Here are some stats on Aidan's career: Win - Loss = 171-14 (school record for most wins) Takedowns = 521 (school record) Pins = 104 (school record) 52-0 (school record for season wins) First 4X state placer for Chesterton

  2. 106 I think Dickman bburg and Rouix could still be in the mix at 106 I know they were smaller coming in to high school. possible impact freshman Jensen Boyd 113- Ayden Bollinger moving up a weigh a returning 3rd placer could be a strong favorite. If Dickman moves up a weight I would think he is the favorite 120- returning Champ Larocca I would guess is the favorite, Gavin Jendreas has a win over Larocca at Al smith and Preston Haines has been under the lights it will be interesting to see if Hockaday stays 120 and hunts another champ 126- Jake Hockaday 2x champ moving up a weight took out a 2x champ I would guess he will be towards the top of the pound for pound dark horse Incoming Freshman Clinton Shepherd has been wrestling well and wrestled Jake tough at IHPO 132- could be an exciting weight. Exciting Freshman Tylin Thrine undefeated would be the favorite but 2 incoming freshman have Wins over Thrine Evan Stanley Lowell is tough and Angelo Vargo is equally as explosive as Thrine Thrine and Freshman stud Haines had a wild match in the quarters 9-8 could be good 138- Brady Ison is the runner up and lost some tight matches to Buttler and has a win over Leavell who is a 2x 3rd and a champ I would guess those 2 would be the favorite dark horse Landon Hawkins gotta get on the mat but the talent is there and has won a lot of big matches 144- Reece Courtney and Jeffery Huyvaert was a great match in the semis and could be under the lights dark Horse Parker Reynolds Parker is tough split with Courtney has some injuries at the end but I wouldn’t count Parker out 150- Wyatt Kresja had 1 loss and ran to the lights. Dude is tough Graham will be in the mix I would guess some of the 38’s will grow my guess would be Major 157- 3 semi finalist return at 152 May, Betz and Brabender. May has had an incredible year and wrestled Lowery tough I would say he is the favorite Betz and barbender have improved every year. 165- Brenton Russall is the only returning medalist at 160 he will be in the mix. I wouldn’t sleep on Beck the freshman from Rochester gave Goin the toughest match of the weekend now the weights get really weird 174- Hobart Aiden Costellos last 2 losses were Ruhlman and goodwin the finalist. He has a :34 second pin against cashman who was in the semis and split with Harden the freshman from cathedral but I could see Harden growing out of the weight possibly a healthy Noah Clouser 2 Dark horses I think this will be the weight Nationally Ranked Anthony Rinehart will fall I think he will have a good summer and incoming freshman Rojas Brownsburg will be really tough there I think he will be in the mix 190- It will be Veazys weight to lose Penolas jump from sophomore year to junior year was amazing does he make another big jump and win a title. Weems and Freeman really looked great as sophomore and freshman. Dark horse Brewer had a hicup Friday night but had multiple wins over weems and might get a great partner to work with every day 215 Will Clark is the retuning champ and ran the gauntlet. The shocker of the weekend Cole Chicoine the pride of the logansport regional is returning and I would Guess 195 runner up Mcconell will be in the mix also Gunnar Henry who has a nice rivalry with Will Clark Kendrix puts in a ton of work over the summer and will look to contend 285 Paul Clark had a barn burner in the semis with Jones and only lost to jones in indiana. He will try to match his brother McNutt is fast and strong he will continue to grow in to the weight and look to get under the lights with Clark. If there is any run on sentances or misspelled words sorry quickly wrote from my phone and on my lunch

    Aiden Torres

I do not know this kid at all but I just think with all the talk about the 3 schools and other things it’s getting lost that this young man went 52-0!!! That, for one, is extremely tough to do and cap off with a title. Also so so rare to see a kid with that many matches now. Most kids come in with 30-40 matches most? Looking at his track profile it adds up to him having 184 matches total over 4 years. Just think that’s an awesome career for Aiden Torres really, maybe not to others but congrats!

My dude Ryan making a comeback! What is up my dude? Put the bottle down and think for a second. Are you from Crown Point or Center Grove?…no, you are the Cathedral dude who hates transfers. . That is my dude. Now running your mouth about Brownsburg having 9 qualifiers, 7 placers, 4 in the finals, and 3 champs. Add to that doing it going through the hardest route possible. Dude find a hobby and get out of the bar. This is high school wrestling man. You need some serious help.

  8. Guys, I'm not an official, but try to imagine reffing that many matches a day. You will miss calls you will get calls wrong. Last week we had wrestle offs for my grade school team. We had 9 matches and I reffed every one of them. I made mistakes, I'm telling you that job is a whole lot harder than it looks. Those guys out there make it look EASY until they mis a call or make a call you disagree with. I understand the frustration but try it for yourself and see how you do. Go ask to ref a Folkstyle tournament, you will see that reffing from your butt with popcorn and soda is a whole lot different than being down there and trying to get in good positions to see AND know all the rules AND get it all right.

    Best Semi State

hmmmm .. Ive coached middle school at Brownsburg for 3 years and in this area for 20ish. We’ve actually won a lot of stuff here in that time. and….. did we not have 3 state champs last night??? Came up short team wise, but still pretty proud!!! Call me what you want loser. I’ve never been nothing but positive for my area and have never and I mean never picked against any wrestler or taken joy in a KIDS failure! I’ve never posted anything about or mentioned your team ever. You already got on here and took a shot at my kid after he took a very emotional loss Friday. What’s your deal with me? You’ve got issues. I’ve coached or been a team leader for the majority of state placers over the last decade and a half. I know how much work these kids put in and refuse to discount any of them. You keep getting on here and putting kids on blast when they come up short. Probably because you have been described to me by the cathedral kids as “Ryan Hasbrook the creepy donor guy” … and to top that…. your on the board of directors for a prestigious school and continue to bash people. Man… I bet the other board members appreciate your 2am drunken post. Ryan Hasbrook is a dirt ball rich guy who makes kids feel creeped out. Keep it up. Piss off buddy!!! And… … after my kid graduates with honors from college in a few months and walks across that stage with ZERO debt we will will go out to eat with him and his best friend who happens to be one of the best ever from Cathedral … I will tell him that creepy Ryan Hasbrook said he hasn’t won anything! I anticipate a great laugh! Notice I’ve mentioned nothing about his wrestling accomplishments… it’s about what he got in the end. Did he win or not??? 15. Logically... it should go to whoever was a 4 time runner up. If no one, then a three time runner up. So... Delaney Ruhlman and Tristan Tonte are both three time runner ups. They are the only wrestlers to my knowledge who have made the finals three times without winning.

  19. The 2003 Mater Dei team would have had the record before Crown Point last year. According to this article, they would have scored 158. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/02/09/indiana-high-school-wrestling-evansville-mater-dei-best-ever/23118865/ But that score is not recognized by the IHSAA records because the IHSAA team title was crowned through the team dual tournament.

  22. He lost it the conference Finals when he was very sick but no excuse he was beaten by Huntington Norths Nick/logan Randle at the NCC championships keeping BC from being a four-time conference champion! BC had beaten him pretty handily earlier in the season for losing to him at conference. What's even crazier is that was Randall's only loss going into State at 41-1 and he would lose a heartbreaker 4-3 to Mason Todd in the first round... That 112 bracket is one of the most loaded brackets I've ever seen in the state finals history... What's even more wild is semi state that year Campbell won, the top four were Campbell, Todd, McKinley and Harvey. That is three state champs and a two-time runner-up all in the same semi state LOL.. Campbell lost to the state champ back 2-0, but that bracket had so many legendary guys that I'm going to have to post it.

  26. So many great names in this topic. My brother and I had a conversation this weekend about how tough it is to make the semi-final match of the State tournament. I get that some paths leading there are more difficult than others, but to get to that match, you are beating someone pretty good, or at least someone that just beat someone pretty good. My hats off to all the current and previous state semi-finalist. To me this makes it even more impressive how some guys just make this look so easy.

  27. Anyone see the last heavyweight match for Evansville SS?!?!?! Ref awarded 2 for reversal at the buzzer, then took it away and did not even give the kid the escape. Kids were completely separated and should have been tied and gone to OT. Worst call I may have ever seen at any level. Refs were trash at points this post season

  29. Yep, this is what most do not realize about the FW semi state. We have wrestlers who do much more than wrestling in schools that are much smaller. The schools that carried the semi state back in the day are very much smaller than the likes of Brownsburg, Crown Point, and Center Grove. Hell if we combine all 3 Adams County schools we may still be smaller than the big schools down by Indy. I'll take having 3 straight 1A football appearances in the finals with maybe a 4th this upcoming fall with some qualifiers and maybe a couple placers at this point from our county. Also take the 1A team dual results for AC & SA going above their seeds. Bellmont has done well in 2A as of late even being a former shell of themselves. Plus the baseball teams have had a little success too. We will keep feeding the country with crops & livestock as well!

  31. I 100% agree. I was one of the loudest realignment advocates in the past because I felt like it was lopsided and didn’t see a path to evening it out without it. However, in the past couple of seasons we’ve seen a massive step forward from the Ft. Wayne area in general as far as depth. Are there some weights where you want to draw FW? Sure, but there were some where you absolutely did not and that’s a big improvement. As a coach that felt we’d get more kids out if we were in that semi-state over New Castle for a long time, I’ll admit I no longer believe that’s true. I think top end talent will always lag but there’s many more darn good kids up there than there used to be and it’s a testament to the coaches that have put in the time to drive it at schools like Delta, Rochester, Western, and Jay County all being teams that were frankly on par with any 3A team and most 4 A teams. My team wrestled a tough schedule for the most part and finished 16-5 (far better than I though we’d do) and we still got blasted out of our shoes at individual tourneys by Western at the Kyle Osborn Invite and By Delta at the Mooresville Holiday Classic. It won’t be long before Shepherd lands another on top of the podium (Betz will be in the mix next season) or Lecount gets his first (Bollinger and Mosier both mighty close already and their MS team is nails too). Rochester did it last year and has the horses to land another there soon (did you see little Beck compete with Goin on Friday? And Horn will be in the mix too) That’s just a few small schools to say nothing of the improvements Snider and Homestead have made as well, and I’m sure Carroll will bounce back soon. And I’m sure there are plenty of other programs seizing the day and making strides that I can’t speak on, but good on them. To summarize, Ft Wayne has turned this once non-believer into a fan. And Indiana wrestling is better for it. Now I have to go get to work training my guys to be able to compete with and beat those teams and it’s gonna take all 300 days I have to to do it!

  32. No Brenden Campbell mention yet? 2x runner-up, third place finish, and an injury default out of the tourney as a freshman while ranked first. Only losses in his career at 201-6 were to runner-up Paul Beck, 3x champion Kyle Ayersman, champion Mason Todd(2x), champion Paul Petrov, and sadly one more as a sophomore I can’t track down.

  39. Tylin’s success did kill a lot of my arguments for class wrestling. New Castle is a 2A school that is at least an hour from any major club and the only coaches he’s had are the current New Castle coaches and other NC alum in their youth program as far as I’m told. I guess it isn’t a matter of resources, but just a matter of heart. I love it. He proved you can do anything if you just have fun and attack.

  42. True, but not in all cases. I think MD would have won in 2020 had Matt Lee stayed and won his 2nd title. So it doesn't always factor in as highly for some as it does for others.

  43. They've been wearing sport coats and ties since at least the early 80's. Talking to an opponent of mine after the Seymour semi state finals (31 years ago!!) he told me how awesome it was and that he wished his school made them wear them. Definitely a down year for MD. We have some holes to fill next year, especially at 220 and 285. No clue who will be at those weights. Only lose 6 seniors, but it will be tough to fill 220 and 285.

  49. I don't know if you ever read anything or just spout off to spout off. Hotel rooms are being booked solid for 2024 in downtown Indy at rates that are 3-5X what they normally are. The NBA books WHOLE hotels for all their people. Not sure if you have ever taken a gander at a map, but Lucas Oil Stadium is in downtown Indy. On top of the NBA All-Star game having some fan festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium no school or fan will want to attend state within the Indianapolis area that weekend due to the high price increases. This also includes hotels on the outskirts of Indianapolis. I would love to not have to pay more than my mortgage for one night at state. I understand you want to make this some crazy conspiracy theory about the IHSAA, but this is out of their control as the city of Indianapolis, Pacers, and others are behind the All-Star game coming to Indy. With the wrestling state finals being smack dab in the middle of championship season it is also extremely difficult for the IHSAA to move the date. As much as I want to live in fantasy land with the ability to move the dates or use one of the more centralized locations the reality is the best options are either Fort Wayne or Evansville.
