  1. North Side Redskins Johnny Sewell - 1x State Champ (HWT) Rico Talamantes- 1x State Champ (171?) Eric Early- 1x State Champ (113?) North Side was never known for state champs but these guys were tough.
  2. Lots of respect to all of these guys and they did in fact dominate this year! Those young men are going to do some big things at the next level. Being biased myself, I’m going to put my plug in for Peyton Schoettle. At Marian County, 3 falls and a tech fall in the finals… Mater Dei Holiday tourney.. a fall, tech fall, decision (4th place at KY state championship), and a loss by one point to Isaac Campbell that came with some scoring controversy (watch the video on Trackwrestling). 3 falls at sectional, 2 falls and a tech fall at Regional, a fall, tech fall, and two majors at semi-state, a fall, tech fall, and two decisions (beat the #6 and #2 ranked wrestlers while being ranked #5). I think it is safe to say those who knew him… knew what he was capable of and that he was going to win it. Putting wrestling to the side, he is just a great young man to be around. He is a good student who is humble and leads with a “quiet strength”.
  3. I am certainly proud of our CYO kids as well. Good luck to all of them!
  4. I have seen a lot of aggressive stall calls this year… kid gets hit with his first stalling and in less than 5 seconds gets hit with another. When I have seen this happen it’s in the third period when it could/should have been called in the first. I don’t mind the ref being aggressive but I think that’s too aggressive.
  5. Mr. Obvious… you posted it on a public board where ANYONE can reply. Again, you don’t like the answer than don’t ask the question. I will say I’m enjoying these conversations … I can’t help but think of a quote by Mark Twain… it is better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and reveal all doubt… keep talking… this is great stuff!!!
  6. It was a great match!!! Much better than the sectionals match. Kendrix just didn’t stop… he kept coming after Johnson. Should get real interesting at New Castle!
  7. Kellen Fellure is a beast and totally agree! He will keep rolling!
  8. I appreciate that and good luck to you and your team as well!
  9. Candidly, not sure where you are going with this and thanks for pointing out the obvious that high school students also have seasons. You asked a question and I gave you an answer. You don’t like the answer… then don’t ask the question. I do have thoughts but will choose to share in another forum. I may be “excellent “ but not as good as you. One day I will be as good as you but until then, I will just keep posting my thoughts to the right forum and not getting upset when folks provide answers to my questions when the answer is obvious… congratulations you win the day!
  10. Regarding 4A and 3A… scores after sectional don’t matter even after there was a realignment? Seems strange that some sectionals get easier for 4A and 3A teams and others get harder without accounting for that. The odds of advancing more or less out off sectional and regional are legit. Southport sectional competition has really stepped up while Arsenal Tech’s got easier. This also impacts regionals which in turn affects semi-state. Those are just two “tip of mind” sectionals that I can think of but there are probably more. If you have doubts… talk to the coaches and kids at Mt. Vernon Fortville… sectionals at Southport this year were a hell of a lot more difficult than last year.
  11. Yeah… so let’s talk about registration… for some regionals (one is still open) it was left open past the 13th or the day regionals were supposed to be held. As a result, tons of late registrations and the brackets have ballooned. No excuse for late registrations and they shouldn’t be accepted. While I realize that may not be a popular stance… this is why Central Regionals got out of hand last year in the Fort. Yes, the dude running the tournament cut his nose to spite his face but the late registrations that were allowed killed that tournament.
