Congratulations to Elijah Anthony of Frankfort. After 3 years of being a qualifier he finally got it done as a senior so happy for him tought match against Brady Ison, but Elijah was determined and never let his foot off the gas!

Two Friday sessions sucks! Really takes away the electricity of the State Finals. Reminds me of State Finals in multi-class states that I have coached at including Ohio and Georgia.

If my math is correct... 152-285 placers from each semi state. Evansville gets all four at 195 and almost gets all four at 160 and 170. Fort Wayne gets all four at 160 and find themselves in 2nd place in the semi state race. Evansville 20 Fort Wayne 14 ECC 12 New Castle 10

I think this is where we have to remember what Mr. Faulkens mentioned on our Zoom call “for coaches and AD’s to tell parents to have patience when ordering tickets” It’s 10:40 and we still don’t have #1 ticket. Hard to tell parents to have patience when they have a son or grandson wrestling tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

Newman is a Competitor , he had a great Season. I want to give him an Applaud. I talked to him at their first tournament of the year. (Edgewood) He said it is my Senior year and I'm going after the Title. Great try Young Man that was a match to remember. Wow, could just be recent bias, but Goodwin and Newman may have been one of the best Friday matches I’ve seen.

2 sessions sucks. Need a Friday night crowd. Why is the upper level of one side blocked off entirely? Might want to sit there in the middle vs low on one end...hard to see the far mat.

State is always wild, and the perfect state bracket is more impossible than a perfect March madness bracket. So I decided to do a coin flip pickem along with my usual pickem. I followed a few rules, because straight up coin flip was way too chaotic. First, I put Seltzer, Mendez, and Carroll into the finals. Those aren't changing. So heads is the top man, tails the bottom man on the bracket. True tossups were a straight one shot coin flip. If I deemed someone as a favorite, than the underdog had to win two coin flips in a row. So say, I get tails for Jackson Ingenito vs Gabe Sollars. The next flip would have to be tails for me to pick Ingenito. Heads would auto put Sollars moving on. And in that specific scenario, I did have Ingenito pulling the upset, and to appease the coin flips rulers, I flipped several more times and continued getting tails. So here are my picks, and honestly feels like a standard chaotic state bracket. Definitely some longshots, but I'm still interested to see how much better this bracket plays out than my actual pickems. It was very good. Newman made the mistake, in my opinion, of trying to avoid getting taken down and not staying offensive in the last :30. Ends up giving up a takedown while on his bike. Great effort by Newman, just couldn't quite finish it.

Vest over Bohn was a good match. Bohn came out strong and got the first takedown. Second period, Vest on bottom gets the escape, Bohn takedown, Vest escape, Bohn up 4-2. Third period Bohn chooses bottom and gets put on his back. Vest didn't get him pinned, but the 3 put him up 5-4 for the win.

This Ticketmaster thing was a horrible idea. Go back to the old school way of selling them at the ticket office and general admission

That match was worth the price of the Ticket alone and all the frustration of getting in the building this morning. Tharpe was amazing and went out fighting… you couldn’t help but root for that kid. What an epic match!

I thought the Stalemate was a bit quick and I am Ben’s dad. I think Ben would have still been able to hold that position, but it was quick for sure. The head scissor was definely there, and I think Ben would have been able to convert that one had it not been BUT… I am a little biased. I could easily see some frustration on the stalemate calls. Cast is a stud. I hate to see any Senior go down who has worked their butt off, but wrestling in Indiana is soooo Brutal and that is why we love it.

If this is the way it's going be, 2 Friday sessions, can we at least get wrestle-backs for round 1 losers? I mean, I had plenty of time to kill as we were eating lunch at 1:30 and the second session doesn't even start until 7 pm, and I watched every match. Come on IHSAA, make it meaningful to the kids, coaches, parents, fans.

Brody Baumann is just a machine. Always on the attack with super clean finishes. He switches from single leg to double leg and vice versa mid shot so well. And to turn a pretty good shot from Cashman into a rolling spladle for the fall? Next level stuff!
