    Who's in,who's out

Actually, I'll reply to this post since I happen to be one of the parents of this particular individual. First of all, I will be the first to say that before this season ever started and Myles was going back and forth on whether not he was going to wrestle, the only thing we asked of him was that if he did indeed start the season that he finished it as that is all we've ever asked of any of our kids. We didn't "allow" him to quit the team. He is almost 19 years old and unfortunately he is technically an "adult". As his parents, there's not a whole heck of a lot we can do! Believe me there have been numerous people, past/present coaches, administrators, mentors, that have tried talking to him. We have literally done all we could to try to get him to complete the season. It's easy to point fingers and say "why would they", "how could they"? Sometimes as parents our hands are tied. We have to let them fail on their own, allow them to make those "adult" decisions and pay the consequences. There's no doubt that he will regret this decision one day. We don't support or agree with his decision but we will love him regardless. If this past year had taught me anything, it's this. I will never again say "that won't be my kid" or "why didn't those parents do something about it" because now we are "those parents".

  5. Got to be impressed with the whole Jay County wrestling team! They won a lot of close matches and wrestled really good all the way through their lineup. Congrats Patriots on your sectional title!

  7. Seen the same thing by a sixth grader at the Delta Folkstyle Open today. Was told it is illegal to turn with a bow and arrow, but was legal to secure the fall. Looked like sour grapes to me yesterday, I actually thought AC should have been deducted a team point as their coach was half way out on the mat.

    Mills v Garcia...

I’d go as far to say it’s better than Rumph and black last year, if it happens. Both have wrestled under the lights. Both have placed every year so far. Doesn’t get much better than that. Props to both of them for not dodging each other and running to another weight class.

  9. Regionals are the only brackets you can pre-determine before their official release occurs. Just pair up the other sectional with yours in reverse placement order. 1/4, 2/3, 3/2, & 4/1. Minus anyone withdrawing (injury, illness, etc.) you can figure out the possible brackets for each round yourself. Semi-state and state are the only unpredictable ones since 4 areas feed in, so the opening round matchups are randomly decided.

  10. I went thru the same thing this year, and 2 years ago..this year my son, like myles, technically an adult informed me he was quitting.i told him no,absolutely not,but his mind was made up.hes 18,6'1",300,i cant make him do crap!!.but i love him,and hes my son..its such a touchy and sore subject, and can put serious strain on a relationship..i dont condone or approve of his decision, but ill support him til the end,as i will myles...and fyi,Scott and Elaine and 2 of the best parents and peoole ive ever met!

  11. The same stuff happened 25 years ago. The whole, "we were tougher back when" gets tiresome. Maybe this is one of the reasons kids quit, they get told how soft they are constantly by these glory dayers.

  12. I don't want to offend anybody or get accused of "talking about a kid," but this stuff needs to change. Today's kids are okay quitting when things get tough. Moreover, the parents allow their kids to quit. This is disappointing to me. Once you start something you need to finish it, not only for yourself, but for your team. If you choose not to go out for the sport the next year, then fine because you aren't quitting. You are just choosing to not go back out. It happens way too much nowadays. Unfortunate.

    Jay County Regional

I’m really looking forward to a 113 matchup of Curtis vs Zadylak. Curtis is the proven wrestler and Zadylak is pretty lengthy and funky. Should be a fun match

  16. solid picks there should be a lot of really good semis. 106- rematch from the DAC where it was a tale of 2 matches. Moran with the win dominated Early. Cruz showed that he never quits and came on strong at the end. 113- gosa wrestled Russi early in the season with gosa won 8-7. He missed a sometime and russi looked tough in the finals against hegedus who has looked great winning DAC. 120- I expect a rematch of the Griffith sectional final between Brock peele and Tylor Trina. This match needs no hype watch Saturday broadcast. I hope this is rd 2 of 4 with the finals being at the bank. 126- A show down of sectional champions daniel mora Diaz who was a lake county champ will look to knock off highly ranked and returning medalist Colin poynter. 132- reese Rodriguez returning from injury has been tested and passed so far the 2x state qualifiers is the favorite. The winner of the Alec Luna vs Jacob Maldonado semi should be a nice test for Reese 138- Kris rumph looks to be firing on all cylinders. Which should frighten the 138 weight class. Ursey from merrillville is a lake county champ and has the ability to make a run to the medal stand. 145- #1 kasper McIntosh is “on a mission” he has been lights out this year. He is looking to finish his impressive career with a blue medal. Cole Cervantes had a huge win in the semis Saturday which should give him a good shot at the finals. 152- i will be looking forward to a pair of DAC champs squaring off for a possible title. Dj Washington has done nothing but impress in his debut season in Indiana. Aaron griggs will have a rematch of the lake county finals in the semis with hobarts Mikey hunter. If Griggs wins there could be a rematch of a Early season match in which Washington took a 6-5 win. Griggs is dangerous and should be medal chasing In Indy 160- state ranked Dante colza has had some tight one in the post season so far. But he wins the tight ones. Colza could have a rematch with last years 152 regional champ Zach nugent. Colza was a OT winner in the semis Saturday. The other possible semi between Calumets Cody snook and Malik Hoover should be a great match also. Maybe one of the deeper weights. 170- it will be the zack fattore show. He is the only undefeated wrestler in the field and it is well deserved. He is looking to finish his career under the lights at the bank. Standing in his way will be two seniors looking to finish their great careers in the parade of champions. Cody Crary munster and portage drake Guerrero. 182- another very deep weight class. A trio of state qualifiers headline this weight Jeremy Torres took care of business at the sectional defeating Bradley Grover putting him in a bracket with merrillville ranked t-lock who defeat him at lake county. Torres and Lockett have had nice rivalry this year with Lockett winning two tight brawls. Don’t sleep on gavits Washington he gave Lockett all he wanted at the sectional. 195- a handful of great athletes head line this weight Erion Hogan defeated Dennis Watson in finals of ec so set up a possible semi final with calumets AJ Fowler. While Fowler wasn’t upset Saturday a lot of people expected a shoot out with portage Jacob Bondon Before Bondon scores the fall. Bondon has been on fire the second half of the season a popular dark horse pick to make a deep run in Indy. 220- 3 of the top 4 at 220 will be closely contested. Chester swopes took care of business Saturday setting up a possible semi with munster Caleb Thomas. Brandon streck a medalist at 285 is down a weight and should be a heavy favorite. Streck has his sights set on Indy and a possible date with #1 nationally ranked mason parris. He shouldn’t look past calumet grinder James Lewis. The top 4 will be a handful at EC for any other regional. 285- merrillville lake county champ Anthony Atria is the favorite. He has had a impressive first season in the varsity line up. He is wrestling Inspired. The other sectional champion had to weight for his opportunity as Ricky Beehn was a 3 year back up but is looking to make a huge impact in his final run. Calumet Martin should challenge atria in the semis. This should be a great day of wrestling. I am a better talker then writer. Hopefully I didn’t butcher this too much. I am excited to see how Hobart runs this I know they will do a great job.

    Mills v Garcia...

Thought the match was typical Ty & Asa matches from the past, pretty boring much like watching paint dry. Lost count how many times they have wrestled so you get where I’m coming from . Most of you don’t know that they trained for many years together, wrestled on the same Middle School together, Wrestling trips together ect... ect.... Both are #parrishtrained. They know each other very well and it shows on the mat. They both know what’s at stake . Win, you set your own path, lose you take maybe a harder path to State . Two great wrestlers going at it every week, one committed to ACC in Duke, other making a name for himself for the rest of the Colleges in a few years . Iron only sharping Iron. I feel sorry for the rest of the competition knowing that Your probably going draw into these two hammers these next couple of weeks knowing they are battling every week getting better & better. Round 3 in Moorseville this coming weekend. Heck.... instead of asking questions on here what happen & details.... why not make the trip and be a Witness ? There are so many great matchups to count going down in MVille. Glad our boys are giving you guys something to talk about other than the County they come from also.

  20. Wasn’t a fan of the quick pin call in the finals. I think my biggest frustration was refs were taking forever to call pins all day and then they call that one very fast.

    Nick Lee question

Yes,there's more than just Yianni. In fact Eirman holds a 9-6 victory over Yianni. And Yianni holds a OT win over Meredith. Can Lee beat either of those, absolutely? Can he beat Yianni, sure. But I think they have faced off a couple times with Yianni holding the lead. Anything can happen, but one thing is for sure, 141 is going to be fun to watch.

    Nick Lee question

Yianni, Bryce, Kevin, Jayden, Dean take your pick, this class is stacked. The defending 2 time national champ is only ranked 5th. Definitely going to be a fun class to watch. Personally I think anyone of 6 or 7 guys could win this.
