Reminder to everyone on here, including myself, that we are grown adults speaking on high school kids. From the looks of it, there’s been some jabs and shade thrown on some threads, and it’s never that serious. It’s just wrestling. Sometimes it’s okay and necessary to take a step back from the board and just watch. This is for discussion about the sport, it becomes something completely different when everyone is throwing shots at each other, making claims about programs, and making remarks about kids. This is meaningful to those participating whether as a wrestler or coach, but there is far more to life than high school wrestling.

He asked me how many would Fort Wayne have in the finals. Looks like we’re doing pretty good. I never believed in jinx’s before today. If I was the Crown Point staff I’d disassociate from this guy. Sheesh!

Watching IhsaaTv from home . The Announcers for all 4 mats are perhaps the best I've ever encountered watching a large Tournament. They are all past wrestlers and very knowledgeable .

I think they have asked the school if he can “transfer” to Brownsburg. For academic and family reasons of course.

Apologies for the lengthy post, but thought found this to be interesting. Last night I was scrolling through Tiktok, procrastinating on some homework, and came across a video about NCAA Basketball champions, and how they all fall under certain criteria, and I was curious as to how something like that can be applied to our state tournament. This is what I came up with: All State Champions but 4, (since 2015) have fallen under at least 3 of the 4 following criteria: - Taken 2nd or better at respective Semi-State - Ranked in the Indianamat Final State Top 5 Rankings - A returning Qualifier - Wrestles for a team with multiple qualifiers in the same season The 4 wrestlers who broke this trend? -Asa Garcia (106) in 2016 - 2nd or Better in SS? Y (1st) - Top 5? N (Ranked 8th) - Returning? N (Freshman) - Team with multiple Qualifiers? Y (Avon) - Eli Stock (170) in 2017 - 2nd or Better in SS? Y (1st) - Top 5? N (Ranked 18th) - Returning? Hastings Some Things to note about this data: - 94.29% (66/70) of Wrestlers that fell under this criteria won on Friday night this year - All but 1 wrestler with all 4 of the criteria won on Friday night Now does someone really need all this criteria to be a state champion? Definitely not. If we could predict every champion using this, the tournament wouldn't be as great as it is. These 'contenders' are not the end all be all, but it's a decent place to start if you're looking to pick your state champion. I'll be continuing to keep track of this as the tournament goes on, and see how this list of criteria plays out. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this as well. Thanks for reading!

Dude, this is the emptiest I’ve ever seen a place. No way should it ever be here again.

I doubt they'll be stripped of anything. Having a 4 time champion gets parents asking about the school/program and what it's like to live in the neighborhood. They here "nice houses, low crime, good schools with all sorts of quality programs beyond athletics" and they decide that's where they should send their kids. It's not any different at BB, CG, Bloomington South, Columbus East, Jeffersonville, or a handful of other schools. Success breeds interest, which brings in people from anywhere nearby, which brings in more money, which breeds more success.

CP has definitely recruited a fine team from far and wide, but at the expense of all the hometowns where those kids came from.

How many medals and honors does this family have? I know there are I believe two younger Rioux’s as well? What this family has done is nothing short of incredible. Off the top of my head, Eight state medals, five finals appearances, and now a state title. Props to them, finally bringing that title home

If I noticed correctly there were first time school champs tonight. That’s awsome for their programs.

Please tell me you’re not crying over parents moving into communities that gives their kids the best opportunities and is also one of the states top schools for education. I moved from Crown Point 18 years ago and I track the construction industry for the Region and no city has as much growth in housing and businesses as Crown Point with no slow down insight. I can also guarantee you those same coaches coached those same wrestlers in their youth and It’s more of a family, being that they were all raised together. I find it hilarious when people like you scream recruiting and the community itself recruits in its rapid development. How can the IHSAA punish them for the constant change in their community that brings people there? Don’t forget to put your red nose on today so you can hide behind it like you are here. 132 had a good one to rewatch. Thrine and Scheoff could of gone either way. There was a definite missed TD call for Scheoff. Great wrestling by Schoeff pushing Thrine to the very end.

Center Grove has been hit with at least two fleeing the mats during the state tournament and several stall calls! Center Grove has been such a boring team to watch! They do nothing and win close matches. Kudos to them for winning tough and close matches, but goodness just wrestle! It’s like their coaches watched the “Stall Camp” Flowrestling special and took the “Why win by 2 when you can win by 1” mentality.

Lol I figured that comment would be coming. I didn’t say the ref was horrible, I didn’t trash the ref, I didn’t say I could do better. I just thought it was a takedown. It’s sports man not everyone is going to agree with every call. But just because I’m not a ref doesn’t mean I shouldn’t voice my opinion on a FORUM about how I disagree with a call.

Hey you love your team and you have good wrestlers at every weight CP will be in the mix for years to come with more titles to come also.

I genuinely thought based on how they had wrestled the entire year up to this point that when they qualified 12 through Semi-State with the number of champions they had that the state title was sewn up and they were on track to set an unbreakable record for team points. This state finals does not seem at all like the CP I'd seen all year.

How many people are at Bankers watching the All Star game thinking they’d be watching HS Wrestling?!?!

Some may still be trying to sort out where their tickets are. Joking. Well really half joking.

Overachieving is a very relative term. What might be considered overachieving to one spectator could be a letdown for the actual wrestler. One example: I(very wrongly) had Elias Cressell ranked #8 in the semi-state. I’m sure all of Wabash county thought that was ridiculous, but for most of the state who didn’t get to watch him this year, it probably looks like he’s having the tournament of his life. To him, I would bet he was still distraught losing in the semis despite his ranking being much lower than his final placement.

They have had several matches in the first two rounds that were won by a solid margin. And most kids are going to tighten up some on the action against top level opponents in the semis with a state final bid on the line. So while their maybe some strategic decisions on when to open things up I’m not sure I’d say “they do nothing and win close matches”. And someone on their staff completely forgot to let Krejsa in on this team plan. That’s kids been on a mission almost the entire time on the mat.

Zar Walker vs Ethan Doster for the Title tonight. After reading this thread, I'd say the OP was spot on and a whole bunch of people were wrong big time. I think only one or two replies mentioned Walker and I didn't see any mentioning Doster at all. Just goes to show, there are no absolutes, but there is a lot of empty bravado and hot air on a message board.

Crown Point just built a new middle school, additions to all the other schools, new sports complex at the high school, thousands of houses being built, new hospital, building more stores and restaurants it is the fast growing city in the state. They’re recruiting so much that we don’t have enough Construction contractors to keep up with them. It’s unbelievable that people are moving to that great community and giving there kids a great opportunity to live there.
