  1. Fact check: 1. i meant what i said: Hendricks county has great wrestling. Sticking a hashtag in front of a phrase does not change the conventions of the English language. 2. There are not "millions" of Indiana high school wrestling fans. 3. Penn State fans do not shout "We are one community". Their chant is "We are Penn State". I defy you to show one instance where a Penn State Kid has given the Iowa, Minnesota or Ohio State coaches or athletes "credit" for their success. Pretty much all of the Big Ten contenders hate Penn State; the feeling is mutual. Take a look at Penn State's wrestling forum to test this assertion. Furthermore, i have never heard a "We are one community" chant at any Indiana high school wrestling meet. 4. Hendricks county kids train 365/24/7? They do not sleep? How do they maintain their academics if they do not go to school? I thought human beings died after five days of sleep deprivation. 5. Pretty much everyone "gets" that Contenders is an outstanding club. Outside of #thecounty drum-beaters, everyone "gets" that Maurer-Coughlin wrestling club and Region Wrestling Academy makes their kids better. 6. It is interesting to watch KT Nelson. He has clearly moved to the next level...at Brownsburg. Dorian Keys is a first-year wrestler? Is that true? if so, i'm sure that is a result of #thecounty, as opposed to wrestling for Brownsburg. This year, i saw Brownsburg shock everyone and win the team duals and a month later, put seven in the finals at semi state. If i lived in Hendricks county--based on results--i would want my kids at the Contenders club and a student at Brownsburg. On the other hand, I could be wrong. I fully expect Asa to win his third title next weekend. It's not hard to imagine Avon getting three champs. If forced to bet, i would put my money on the Orioles to win their first title. Let's give this "We are one community" some legs: 1. All Avon kids should scrap any apparel branded with "Avon". That would extinguish this "1 schools ego" thing that you mention. I suggest that the singlets are emblazoned across the chest with #thecounty and the back will state #weareonecommunity. 2. During their post-match interviews, the Avon champs should not mention their "Avon" coaches or team mates, but should give credit to Derrick Snyder, Contenders and the kids from the land of the hashtag. 3. Should Avon get grand prize, the trophy should reside at the Contenders club. 4. Finally, and crucially, the IHSAA will NOT recognize Avon as the State Champion. The championship clearly belongs to the "One Community" and should be so noted in the record books. Avon's administration should refuse the trophy unless it is presented to #thecounty.

  2. Before the season I was talking with my logansport regional guru @Wrestling Scholar And we discussed how much wrestling AJ had did this summer and how he had solid results. AJ was 6th at the Lafayette jeff sectional as a sophomore and worked his butt off. Saturday he was in the finals at east Chicago that is an amazing turn around. For everyone that is not wrestling next weekend remember keep grinding and improving, hard work will pay off. Great Job AJ and keep it rolling

Oof. I don’t know about everyone else, but from what I saw yesterday, it sure wouldn’t seem fun wrestling any of the Ft. Wayne champions first round.

  7. I also didn't know that Contenders and Coach Parrish were the only academy...someone may be confused as Contenders is in Bburg and some other joint called Red Cobra is in Avon. To @MattyB point...I cheer for all these kids because I see how hard they work all year long. I'm a Bburg guy through and through but will root on Brewer because I see what he's doing in July when it's 100+ degrees in the sweat-box behind the Thai Restaurant off of Rockville Road. I root for Asa because he has no fear of getting together with other county guys and making each other better. He puts in time doing teaching to the little guys in Snyder's room...because what's good for the sport is good for all and we like to continue to grow what we're doing in #TheCounty. We recently moved, and one of the biggest things I hate is not seeing these kids get after it daily at RC or Contenders. #TheCounty is strong. We truly do pull for each other. I believe it was Jaden Reynolds that said it best...all this rivalry stuff is kinda silly. We've all been wrestling together since we were little and we all work together all year long. So we're all friends. Haters gon hate.

  9. Team Garcia is passionate about are area. Can’t knock the dude for that. With that said, I think that there is a level of respect for eachothers programs that is not typical. Anytime anyone has success at any level, it seems that the coaches, parents, and wrestlers of the other teams are first ones to congratulate the kids. A lot of the parents hang out together. So the sense of together or being as one is real. This is a silly debate. Great day yesterday. Gave some money to the boom squad. Looking out for 1proud.

  15. Looks like MD92 may have gotten a new account??? Lol. Love dem nameless Emd trolls! Must be the “cool” thing to do there. @UncleJimmy Seriously I think both teams are great. I think Avon has a shot to finish higher than Emd at state. Good luck to both teams. I have been a team leader in many teams with Emd guys. Always tough. Furthermore ALWAYS respectful and funny kids. I really do enjoys seeing these kids have success.

There are no absolutes, but some are pretty much locks. We've all seen lightning strike and a heavily favored guy get pinned or hurt or sick and weakened. Which is why I didn't try and use percentages. The thing is... it's kinda fun to speculate. And everyone at this point is good. Question is, can those that are good find a way to step up and be great?

  33. Word on the street is that Brownsburg’s Heavyweight Keys (Semi-State Champion) is a first year wrestler.... some are “novices”! That being said..... I don’t think he’d be where he is at any other program besides Brownsburg
    2 points
  34. Swin right you are! Brownsburg was supreme at team state and at evansville semi state...again. Bburg puts seven in the finals? Insane. 1. #thecounty = #brownsburgwannebes. Everyone gets the fact that Hendricks county has great wrestling. What Hendricks county does not get is that Brownsburg stands alone. 2. A GREAT day of wrestling was diminished by a smallish crowd. What’s up with that? A historically loaded field generated no more ticket sales than this? 3. While 152, 170 and 220 were thrilling, the balance of the finals was a snooze fest. The notable exceptions were Avon’s Carson Brewer and Mater Dei’s Matt Lee. Both had a great sense of urgency and made it look like offense matters. Well done, gentlemen. 4. The refs were terribly inconsistent. Returning the bottom man to the mat is clear cut—evansville rules say you can take 20-30 seconds to accomplish that. I’m a fan of Macartney Parkinson and Nick South. However, riding parallel on the hips for two minutes without so much as a warning is ridiculous. What’s going to happen at state? Will Bburg’s depth carry them to a state title? It’s not hard to imagine Avon or Mater Dei producing two or three state champs...it will be hard for the dogs to top that. Cathedral will likely have challengers to MD’s horses...the Irish could prove to be the spoiler, or the winner. stay tuned.

  35. It can be argued that those :02 were the difference thay gave Brownsburg the team title. Montgomery scored 15.5 team points. BB won by 13.5. Every second counts and Brownsburg proved it today.

  50. I don't. I'm asking. You seem to present yourself as knowing more than everyone else. I am not looking through any "lenses" but am simply asking questions that are fair and reasonable to anyone that knows anything about the sport, whether they wrestled at the collegiate level or not. I've you've read this thread and the other college thread and paid attention, you would have read that I thought Chad would win the match. You would have also read discussions on what could have been holding Chad back this year and at NO point did I ever act as if I knew the answer. I simply asked questions and posed possibilities (injury, health, weight management, etc. for example). At some point, people must understand the difference between asking a question or posing a possibility to making an accusation. Perhaps you can do that while teaching me the definition of the word flaw? I'd welcome that discussion. Lastly, if you have seen me make any remarks about Chad that were disrespectful, please point them out to me. Chad was one helluva a HS wrestler. He was an NCAA All-American as a redshirt freshman. His sophomore year, to this point has not held up to that level. Yet there is time. It can still happen. But the fact is he is 6-7 against D1 competition. It doesn't take an NCAA All-American to know that is not what most would expect from an All-American. Again, to clarify, the criticism is about his performance, not him. There IS a difference. Enjoy your day on your high horse.
