    Red Vs Lee ?

Can I like my own post?

  2. From last year’s flyer: ELIGIBILITY: This tournament is open to any wrestler in grades 6th – 7th & 8th enrolled in an Indiana Middle School who has not completed at least one year of 8th Grade.

  3. So the school that has a middle school program is better than nearby schools that don't? This is my surprised face

  4. Logan Boe has always been in the mix but he's having a dominant year at 152 and that weight class is the most up in the air imho..Boe gets his 4th state MEDAL this time he's under the lights and wins it all!

  6. 3 shut outs and 2 blowouts. The SAC is lucky that Carroll isn’t in the conference when it comes to wrestling... change my mind. ps, is Carroll unbeaten in like 8 weight classes? Come on Fort Wayne!

  7. I am not in favor of this post at all. SAC has an uphill battle to even field full teams. I commend anyone that is willing to put forth the effort to help these kids. This isn’t even close to the same playing field.

  8. Lee puts on an absolute clinic against Red. 9-1 and it wasn't that close. Lee hits an outside single in the first and rides out the period. In the second Red starts on top. Lee gets to his feet and Red takes a stall after not returning to the mat. On the re-start Lee gets the quick escape to preserve riding time. They end the period in neutral. In the third Lee hits another quick single and does a great imitation of a back pack. With riding time locked and a 6-0 lead Lee works a bit for the turn before finally cutting Red to try for the major. And he gets it pretty quick as Red looks a bit gassed. They end the match on the mat with Lee still riding. Wow, wow, wow.

    Red Vs Lee ?

Not close from the start. Nick had 3:32 in riding time. Red's only score was when Lee let him up w/ :48 left, so he could take him down again to get the major. Dominating!

  10. Thanks... Ty's dinged up at the moment, but should be back in the lineup within the next week. He's been taking some good beatings, but looking better every match and learning!!! The scores may look pretty bad, but he's learning how to score and screw the boring 1-0 matches... score, score, score!!! The dual tomorrow with Pitt should be on the ACCNX, but I don't think Duke has any primetime duals scheduled this year. The ACCN is still dominated by football and basketball, but hopefully with the ACC knocking on the door with 5 top 25 teams in wrestling, it will fix itself. Next year, Duke should be back in the mix with our Olympic redshirts back and more depth in the lineup. On another note, I'm just amazed at how talented all of our Indiana boys are after seeing the competition Ty's faced. Brayton, Mason, Nick, CJ, Brock, Cael, both Drew's, the Rooks, etc... are freaking STUDS, there are NO easy matches in D1. Plus, we have lots more on the cusp of making the lineup... very exiting! Proud to be a Hoosier on the mat!

  11. The past few years several wrestlers have entered again as a repeat 8th grader after wrestling already as an 8th grader and the IHSWCA has not sent them home so I would assume if Preston wants to wrestle there is enough precedent set that he will be able to wrestle.

  13. Ladies and Gentleman, this fight is 3 rounds in the Indianamat Fantasy Fighting Championship’s Heavyweight division... Introducing first, out of the blue corner, a legendary mma star - holding a professional record of 1 zillion wins to only 1 defeat.. standing at 5’9” tall, 210 pounds. FIGHTING out of his parents basement and reliving his glory days via high school wrestling message boards - FCFIGHTER. And now introducing his opponent, FIGHTING out of the red corner. An ancient eastern Asian martial arts master, standing at 6’0” 225 pounds. The REIGNING, DEFENDING WORLD WANG CHUN CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, GENHEAVYHANDS!!! (crowd goes wild as lights and cameras focus on the imaginary octagon in the imaginary arena)

    Carroll vs the SAC

I asked a question, and you answered it poorly. By my count, Carroll would have a pretty solid shot at winning 9 out of 14 matches against the entire conference. (I can’t can’t even count that good ) and I’m glad you’ve brought the state series into this.... how about: 2019 Semi-State Qualifiers Carroll 9 SAC 9 2019 state Qualifiers Carroll 3 SAC 1 2018 state Qualifiers Carroll 4 SAC 2 2017 state Qualifiers Carroll 5 SAC 1 I rest my case....

  30. Also of note and I don't think it's been mentioned back here but the ACCNet is now broadcasting wrestling on Friday's (I think) as well so those of you with appropriate cable providers can check that out as well..possible Ty Mills action (just wanted to "Ty" it in to the thread topic of IN kids!!).

  33. A kid I like is Keegan Williams at 120 for Ev. Memorial. He's a freshman, isn't ranked and may not make it out of SS, depending on his ticket round draw. But I could see him getting to State with a break or two and he's a guy not many people outside of Evansville have heard of.

  34. couple things.... Rankings don’t mean ! 120 is a toss up, Carroll’s Ehle is tough.. Maybe you aren’t smart enough to realize this? He’s a 2 time Michigan state qualifier, who Ester had the opportunity to wrestle this past week, BUT DIDNT EVEN WEIGH IN FOR THE DUAL.. 138 - Who has Sotero even beaten this season? Quick answer - No one.. Carroll’s Fitch is a grinder, just like his uncle Jon! Didn’t he beat Sotero in the offseason? 152 - At minimum a tossup... Saylor has a much better resume and wrestled Hollis to a tough 3-1 loss... Hilger was tech called by Hollis. 182 - Schwehn has beaten best guys SAC has to offer. (Not exactly a mystery) 220 - Bills only loss was an injury default to the snider kid in the first 30 seconds.... Also, pinned the wrestler who is likely to be SAC’s #1 seed... You would need every Fort Wayne team to just have a CLOSE dual meet with Carroll!

  36. I wouldn't say Cole Ross is a sleeper... I would like to say that Cottey has 113 locked up but there is definitely an opening. Cole is ranked 2nd for a reason.

  38. 120 – Andrew Haggerty (Perry Meridian) | Battle-tested kid who’s had just about everyone you could have on the schedule. 152 – Kade Law (Columbus East) | Al Smith champ, faced a who’s who at 152; close battle with Freije at Team State. 160 – Tyler Fuqua (Franklin) | Only losses to Dickens and Law (152) in the UTB. 220 – Alex Hernandez (Warren Central) | Solid big man from the east side room who’s faced great competition. If he’s healthy, he can make a deep run. 285 – Jacob Johnson (Franklin) | Ranked eighth in the semi-state with five losses all coming in OT to wrestlers in the top ten.

  39. I ask in all sincerity.....does your team allow "open practices" whereby parents can come watch? I don't think I saw one live practice of my kid in his 4 year high school days. If you do, maybe that enables the snowflake culture for your athletes? Disallow parents to attend and start coachin' those dudes up how you want..amirite?

  43. Even if that mentality is outdated in the mainstream, I don’t think it is ineffective. Quite the contrary. It definitely leads to success. I am not speaking in terms of wrestling, as I am no expert in wrestling. I am speaking in terms of life. And this mentality is the reason I have my kids wrestle. Of all the sports I participated in as a kid, wrestling taught me the most. And it taught me the “mentality” that you’re referring to—that pushing yourself to the extreme gave you an edge over the competition and made you realize that your limits are far beyond what you think. That is invaluable in all aspects of life. With that said, I would struggle being a coach because I would be hesitant to push other people’s kids the way I push my own. And that is because of the change in society as a whole doesn’t fit with my mentality. My favorite coaches of my sons’ are the ones that don’t give a hoot about the changes in society and say and do things I would not if I were in their place.

    Red Vs Lee ?

From what I have seen from the two so far this season, I have to go with Lee. Nick looks like he has really improved over last year, but Red is looking better as well. This should be an epic battle that doesn't disappoint. At my age I hate wishing time away but I to can't wait for Friday night.

  47. Anyone who knows me, knows I love the dual part of wrestling. As I give an opinion, keep in mind I’m at Brownsburg. We don’t have a dog in the fight. We will be largest division regardless. Our goal is to win so it doesn’t matter if 8 or 12 teams go. Those that have an issue with the new system, would Joe’s suggestion/compromise take care of this - 4A and 3A have 8 teams. 1A and 2A have 12 teams. Is there a schedule or space concern I’m not aware of? If this is best for 1A and 2A schools, I’d say do it. Just my 2 cents. Thanks to everyone who makes Team State such a great event. Snyder
