There was no tarnish on that win. Maybe a little ugly with all of the breaks? Maybe that's the same thing.... I wasn't a fan of all the boos. Carson got a well earned State Championship. Donahue showed heart and battled hard despite adversity. Kudos to both.

Rankings guy said a college coach should look at him.. I didn't think nothing of it but dang! That kid is no joke. I love watching him shoot so much and stay active.

Dang.. I didn't think anything of it, except for it probably hurt. Congrats to Brewer on a great season. The Culver kid has a bright future. Very impressed a 14/15 year old kid could hang with Carson Brewer.

That samich produced 4 state champs as he gave Rodgers, slivka, and south all bites. I gotta get me one.

  7. Big win by Slivka! Proved me wrong. Washington looked like he got a little comfortable after getting a lead, expecting things to continue his way. Slivka had other ideas! So much for worrying about whether Brewer can win by fall. Congrats to Cathedral for getting it done!

One hell of an intro. Shows confidence, and a sense of humor. That sandwich had the folks laughing, especially when he shared it with his comrades. Best of luck in all you do young man. And Thanks

    Stalling?

After watching the 145 semi between Lee and Graves I am left to wonder about stalling. After reading the NFHS rule there is nothing that explicitly states that spending the majority of the match on all fours is stalling, but it does talk about continuously avoiding contact with the opponent is stalling. It seems to me that spending extended time on all fours is a specific tactic to avoid contact because most offensive moves start with leg attacks. In this match I felt the ref did the cowardly thing by waiting to make the stall call until there was so little time left as to be irrelevant, but to avoid never having made a single stall call in a match that one wrestler seemed to decide to try to get to sudden victory before he got on the mat.

    First year?!

Dorian is freaky athletic. So strong and such great hips and feet...which I know well from football. So I knew he'd do good. In fact, I thought he would win a state championship...NEXT year. Prior to the season I thought he might surprise and be able to advance to the semistate based on his strength and athleticism. Total surprise this year with his very limited experience! Awesome job by him, the coaches, and his teammates!

    First year?!

Congratulations to Dorian Keys winning a state title. I know he is a very inexperienced wrestler, but I had the pleasure of coaching him as an 8th grader at Chapel Hill (Ben Davis) where he was part of an undefeated team. Also coached him as a Freshman at BD. Unfortunately, he didn't finish his Freshman season. Also want to congratulate his workout partner Lawson Aiken.

  18. Mendez is just on another level here, majors a returning state champ in the semis. And made it look so easy, I’m just in wow when I watch him wrestle. If Rioux can keep it under a major I’ll be surprised. Good luck to both under the lights!!

  22. like i'm the first person to get behind a great kid..when a kid wins One if the toughest hs tourneys and is undefeated..Majors #3 Bellamy..not had a offensive point scored on him in indiana...Great kid..Class act...my buddy's son...yea im gonna toot his horn and Have no problem being wrong if the stars don't align..I don't knock others when they make predictions so Its comical that anytime a county kid loses everybody loves throwing it in ppl faces...Brewer is in another level and when he's on, there isn't a soul in this state touching him.. And if i'm not mistaken mahan Gave a "Herculean" effort last year so... Where was I wrong? I got thick skin and can handle myself that's the difference between me and most ppl..I'm not just a anonymous smack talker behind a screen name..I have respect for the whole state and sport as a whole and if me rooting for Carson and Trizton and speaking well on them is wrong I don't wanna be right..Ppl can pile on all they want but my opinion is Brewer is once again on a roll and gonna be hard to beat and I don't see what the deal is.. The dudes lost twice in 2 years combined so Whomever wants to disagree that its gonna take a "herculean" effort are plain bitter or crazy.. and never once time have I said any kid ever is unbeatable..I wouldn't ever say that or put that on a kid...

  34. Jacked up scoring is an understatement. A team could have two champs and place no one else will be higher then a team who places all 14 8th place. Seems legit right?

The problem I have, and seen a lot this year. Take the Conley/Rodgers match, they were in a similar position for about 10 seconds, no change and 2 was awarded to Rodgers which ultimately won him the match. My question is, if they didn’t change position how wasn’t that neutral or 2 given when it happened. I think video replay would clear that up greatly

Slightly off topic, but related (in my mind anyway)...... In the current situation, how often does a call get changed when a coach steps out to question an official? 10%? 20%? Never?

Seeing how they have over done it in some college meets I’m am hesitant of having it, especially under the coaches control. Does it fix some mistakes yes, but it also seems to cause problems too with match delays and allowing the tired wrestlers a breather. I can maybe see it at the higher stakes events if the officials feel the call was close enough that a video replay would be helpful to judge a scoring situation. And even then limit it to a few views and if it’s not decisive the call stands so that the action can continue without. 10min break. However, I can see how automatically giving replay just because a coach throw a brick could become as much of a hinderance to the match in some cases as it could be a help.
