  2. Very impressed with the North kids. All of them are scrappers; the coaching staff brings a lot of intensity. North has 2000 students. You have to beleive that with a good feeder program and stability at the hs coaching level, they can produce a very good team.

Another name mentioned was Layne Horn...he was also a 5th grader when my son was a 2nd grader and did the same thing...again there was confusion...I'm fairly certain these matches happened on the same day...it wasn't a national tourney, but these hammers happened to be on their school's team that day...glad my kid kept a good attitude after that!

  17. I'm a Huge CP fan. I have been telling people for a few years that this team was going to be special. And that they are. One of the best ever in Indiana history. With that said I feel the need to voice my opinion/concerns with the conduct of their coaches. Now I know they were in Illinois and with that comes home cooking for Mt. Carmel. And I wasn't there to see and hear what actually happened. But come on three points taken away and two coaches ejected. No excuses for that. Maybe I'm wrong here but let's act like you been there before. Forgive me for questioning the actions of CP's coaches but I think we need to hear something about why one of the greatest teams ever assembled in IHSAA history had three points taken away.

Did the sips block out the Bellmont part of your memory... Correction: I was reading some of the sectional commentary and forgot this was an ACAC post...thought we were talking about sectional...and I haven't even had any sips yet.

Boyd was a 5th grader when my son was in second grade at a set of elementary duals we were at...he hits a shot fake to a snap down, which was followed by a cement mixer...my 2nd grader walked off the mat and was speechless...there were no emotions...no crying, no anger...just confusion haha

  34. I hope we can continue to build these dual meets up, team state is another example of GREAT dual environment and excitement. A couple years ago MD wrestled PM in a dual right at the start of Christmas break, PM didn’t travel so well on that one but the distance was a factor I’m sure. That match was awesome I’m sure CP and MCC lived up to the bill. Let’s all keep working towards more of these match ups.

  36. This was without a doubt the coolest high school event I have witnessed. Better than alot of college and pro events. Glad we went. It was good for the kids and good for the sport. I can only see this heating up as the years go by as I believe they will always be top talent teams. The coolest thing is the amount of indiana kids total from both teams as mt carmel has its fair share of indiana talent as well. Indiana is wrestling, just a little scattered. Fun event

  38. Also not sure Frazier was really stalling. Lemley was better no doubt but Frazier didn't seem he should have been called for stalling 3 times. Mendoza from Mt. Carmel is a stud. Is he from the region? Seemed Mt. Carmel had about 4-5 kids from the region a couple from CP. Alex Tsirtsis looks like he could still wrestle. Region Wrestling Academy has something special for some top talent in the country.

  40. Yes thanks for the explanation. Big difference between fans and coaches. I know first-hand how we (fans) can get out of control and there is nothing a coach can do. Awesome event and I'll be there in person next year.

  41. Tylin holds multiple wins over HS stud J.May as well.. If he starts wrestling more off season stuff, he could make serious noise, was going to be with him at MS state qualifier but it was cancelled.. He doesn't even realize how talented he really is. M.Vargo, Parker Reynolds, Evan Stanley, Jackson Bradley, My guys stud Jensen Boyd, and Hawkins all will be contending for state titles/medals without a doubt. Aiden Carver( he's got a few years left until HS but I had to give him a mention he's really gotten tons better and might've broken records doing so when it comes to total matches wrestled in a year with easily over 500 , look at his track where he's got a staggerin 307-108 record!!! Has currently 140 significant wins on his track wrestling record not counting Flo , he wrestles multiple age/weight divisions at every tourney he's in, all across the United States and lost in the blood round at Fargo falling a point short of being a All American.

  42. Fans were ejected. No coaches were ejected, 2 of the 3 bonus points were fans I believe it was an amazing atmosphere for a dual honestly probably the best I have been around. The MC student section was loud from the first JV match through to the end. thank you MC and CP for putting this event on hopefully CP can bring the atmosphere next year.

  43. CP wins 31-29 (should have been 33-29 I think but CP lost two team points). Good dual. I am surprised Sergio won 10-2. I thought Frazier could have pulled the upset. What happens during 160 match? Two CP coaches get kicked out?

  46. *Sam Hansen is long gone, and won't be wrestling at 182. His baby brother Luke will be at 182 on Wednesday night:-) Just a quick update on Sam, the 2018 state runner-up at 195. He is in his final year of seminary at Bishop Brute' here in Indianapolis. He is studying to be a priest in the Catholic church and is completely happy. He'll be spending time and Creighton University this summer and traveling to the Holy Land in May. When he returns he'll spend the next four years in formation at St. Meinrad Seminary in Southern Indiana. The sacrifices he made in wrestling were always opportunities to grow closer to God, and I guarantee the homilies that he gives will be filled with stories about growing in his relationship with God through the life-changing sport of wrestling. Please keep Sam in your prayers as he journeys towards ordination!
