  1. Wow. You took the words right out of my mouth. I love wrestling in NWI. Yes even the Bulldogs. But if I'm being honest here something wasn't right with them this weekend. To ban someone because someone else asked, when the poster did nothing wrong, is a very slippery slope. Let's not go there. This site keeps my love of wrestling burning. Don't change it. Just wouldn't be right.
  2. CP had a season almost any team would love to have but will never get there. And I'm a bit conflicted cause I love my region wrestlers. However, I can only think of one word to describe their weekend, choke. And yes I know they are kids, and things happen. And I won't talk about the kids. But wow. I will make a suggestion, my opinion, maybe it's the coaches. I saw one assistant CP coach drinking his coffee matside during a quarter finals match. I saw the head coach argue a call and the referee looking like thanks for verifying I made the right call. He, coach, had no clue of the rules. Saw that one up close and had to laugh about it. Anyway congratulations CP on a great year.
  3. Let's give CP their due. This team is probably the best ever in Indiana. Love watching them. You are never going to find evidence of breaking the IHSAA rules. But let's be completely honest here. When you have a wrestling community like CP, and you had the great school system like they have, and a few other things that make wrestling and or moving to CP beneficial, why wouldn't you wrestle for them. I mean I bleed purple but if I had a son wrestling right now they would 100% be going to CP. I am sure they, coaches/parents/wrestlers, don't have a recruiting budget or go out there and say 'Transfer to CP.' The system does the recruiting for them. So, you are right let's drop it cause no one is ever going to have evidence, but let's also not lie to ourselves and say there is no recruiting going on.
  4. I don't think it's a 'Maybe I'm being naive. Maybe it's a terminology thing for me.' question. But maybe an alliance to a program thing. Which is cool and I understand. Cause if you say recruiting doesn't exist you are blind and definitely not in the know. It is there. I think the better question is whether you agree with it or not. I'm ok with it. If as a parent I think wrestling for a certain program increases my chances of my son being successful in life than I am moving. As long it is done within the rules. Heck there is recruiting at every level and in every sport. Just don't lie and say there isn't.
  5. I am sitting there next to my wife when I heard the hotdog announcement. She looked at me and said 'You want one don't you?' I was like I need to try one. Man they did not disappoint. Best hot dog I have ever had at a high school sporting event.
  6. Not bad. I would add Pellot at 157 as a lock.
  7. Can someone please change the post to "Indiana needs class wrestling". That is what I am getting from all the numbers, percentages etc. quoted on this post. Don't really have an opinion either way. But getting kind of tired of clicking and seeing the same numbers, percentages, etc. as to why we need class wrestling. How about this, someone come up with a master plan as to how we get class wrestling in Indiana. And let's move from talking about it to getting it done. I have no clue what that would entail, but I know someone, way smarter than me, can figure it out. I mean, come on, numbers don't lie.
  8. This is a very good point. I think you are right. I know of at least one family that is from that area that will be attending and only went to Indy when their son wrestled. Just not sure it will offset the number of people not going from 3-4 hours aways. I'm not to worried about tickets. I think it will work out fine. What concerns me more is food around the stadium. In any case I will be there and if less people show up shorter lines.
  9. Yeah, used an old formula that gave 1st 26, 2nd 22 etc. Don't even know where I got those numbers from. Anyway, same results with 18 for 1st, LC 134 Merrillville 142.
  10. Wow. My spreadsheet shows almost exactly the same thing. Only difference is I have LC with 3 champs. I have Merrillville with 6 second placers to LC's 2. Final score 216-200 Merrillville. This is without taking into account any extra points for falls, majors or techs. So should come down to bonus points.
  11. My understanding is that Indiana does not have class wrestling. So why is there even a debate on why a 6A school is in the same sectional as a 1A school? Does not matter. Unless someone or some organization is trying to give the appearance of some type of classing and maybe appease some of the 'We need class wrestling' people. Who knows why the IHSAA does anything. The only thing that I know is that there is not class wrestling in Indiana, yet. So go ahead 6A schools beat up on the 1A schools.
  12. “It ain't the six minutes. It's what happens in those six minutes.”
  13. I am so conflicted. The wrestler, parent, coach part of me would love wrestle backs. The fan in me loves the round to go. No other round in the country compares to it. You can quote every piece of research out there (and I commend you for all that you have already done) but nothing compares to "If you want to go to State don't lose in the round to go". If you are the number 4 kid in the state and you lose in semi-state guess what you're not the best in the State. I you lost in the first round and wrestle back to 4th maybe you just had a good day. That does not mean you are one of the top 4 wrestlers. No system will ever be perfect. Yes maybe wrestle backs are better than what we have now. But not buying that wrestle backs will get you the top 4 of every semi-state to state. Not even sure that should be the goal. If that really is the goal why not just have the top 16 ranked wrestlers go to state regardless of what semi-state you are from. But that's why we wrestle on Saturdays.......
  14. So do I have this right, you are saying that a Dual between CP and the best wrestlers from the rest of the state (minus any CP regional wrestlers) would result in a win for CP? Love the support you show your team. But no. Just thinking out loud here. That would mean that there would be 7 or 8 State Champs from the CP regionals. Even if CP gets 5 champs (which is a very real possibility) there are not 3 other State Champs from the CP regionals. Keep up the love and support for your team. Very refreshing...
  15. Yeah, I've seen a lot of returning state champs get beat. Not taking anything away from McCubbins, but Talamantes looked unstoppable that year. Who knows maybe a 'defending state champ' and 'best wrestler in the state' just might have gotten beat that day. It's happened before and will almost certainly happen again.
