  2. Just sending out my congratulations to Jimtown on winning what I am pretty sure is their first team semi-state championship, spearheaded by their three individual champions. Congrats to Coach Maggart and your three champions.

  3. Look we get it, he’s injured as you’ve pointed out numerous times. Glad he’s made it but let the injury thing go man.

  5. My vote for most dominating performance goes to Silas Allred. He pinned everyone, with the longest match going about a minute and a half. Wow

  6. Great match. Casebolt is a great kid. Just emotional wrestling his last match ever.

  7. What a great article on Warsaw's Jacob Bass who qualified for semi-state this weekend. http://www.inkfreenews.com/2019/02/08/once-a-slave-warsaws-jacob-bass-celebrates-freedom-through-wrestling/

  8. It can be argued that those :02 were the difference thay gave Brownsburg the team title. Montgomery scored 15.5 team points. BB won by 13.5. Every second counts and Brownsburg proved it today.

  11. Swin right you are! Brownsburg was supreme at team state and at evansville semi state...again. Bburg puts seven in the finals? Insane. 1. #thecounty = #brownsburgwannebes. Everyone gets the fact that Hendricks county has great wrestling. What Hendricks county does not get is that Brownsburg stands alone. 2. A GREAT day of wrestling was diminished by a smallish crowd. What’s up with that? A historically loaded field generated no more ticket sales than this? 3. While 152, 170 and 220 were thrilling, the balance of the finals was a snooze fest. The notable exceptions were Avon’s Carson Brewer and Mater Dei’s Matt Lee. Both had a great sense of urgency and made it look like offense matters. Well done, gentlemen. 4. The refs were terribly inconsistent. Returning the bottom man to the mat is clear cut—evansville rules say you can take 20-30 seconds to accomplish that. I’m a fan of Macartney Parkinson and Nick South. However, riding parallel on the hips for two minutes without so much as a warning is ridiculous. What’s going to happen at state? Will Bburg’s depth carry them to a state title? It’s not hard to imagine Avon or Mater Dei producing two or three state champs...it will be hard for the dogs to top that. Cathedral will likely have challengers to MD’s horses...the Irish could prove to be the spoiler, or the winner. stay tuned.

  18. Krummen of East Central was down 15-6 to Tremor Bynum of Pendleton. They actually called a pin for Bynum at the end of the second period but then it was determined the pin came after the buzzer. Krummen ends up pinning Bynum in the third.

  19. Huge win by Nick Lee. That was one of the biggest gas tanks you are going to see. McKenna looked huge, but those muscles need oxygen. He made almost no attempt to get off bottom in the final 32 seconds. Well and truly gassed. It looked like Lee clearly saw that before he cut him.

    #4 seeds

We always talk about possible 4’s over 1’s on Friday night. With no brackets yet available for the state finals, here’s the 4’s coming out of EVV SS that could stir things up. 106- Newman(MV) #4 SS 113-Ross(EMD)#5 State #1SS 120- Conley(Av)#11 State #4SS 126-Meier(BS)#14 State #4 SS 132-Egli(EMD) #11 State #3SS 138-Kreiter(BB) #8 State #2 SS looked like he was concussed. Hope he’s healthy 145-Law(BB)#7 SS tough freshman 152-Ross(BS)#15 State #5SS 160-Sollars(EMD) #8 SS has quality wins over ranked opponents 170-TJB(BB)#14 State #4SS 182-Carson(Dan) #9 State #3 SS young man wrestling with a lot of heart. 195-Stine(Mart)#7 SS 220-Howell(THS)#7 SS 285-Rea(HH)#5 SS Granted it all comes down to the draws, but I think EVV can pull some 4 over 1’s come next Friday. Let’s see what the othe SS’s are bringing

  24. Silas Allred was dominant at New Castle. He's an excellent athlete and all that, but he is so slick and technically advanced. It's hard to believe he's a junior

  28. I appreciate your opinion, and Coach Cloud is way to classy to ever say anything, and I am sure next weekend when we meet it will be as if nothing happened. That is exactly what I expect and know he will be like. I will tell you that I did not listen for the sound, but rather the man operating the visible score and clock was counting down from 5 because we knew it was going to be close. I looked instead for the official to start the signal for a fall. I did not see it, but I also realize that if you asked 100 people that call may be a 50/50 split.

  30. I hate being involved like that. I realize that it is part of the job, and I will never shy away from making what I think is the right call. That being said, it is always nice to find out what others thought, and I have thick skin, I will take whatever they have to say.

  44. That all makes more sense, since I didn't see your posts with JD until after I replied. I wish I could be there again this year, but skipping my anniversary two years in a row is not a good idea. Didn't plan real well and scheduled our wedding in Jamaica for SS Weekend 4 years ago. Will definitely limit my trips back to Eville for SS.

  45. Keep going... you'll save me some time so I can focus on Semistate this weekend! ha ha I will add Jacob Aven won by decision and Dylan Lydy won by major. Purdue tops Stanford 22-9. IU lost to Rutgers 24-11. Jacob Covaciu lost by decision in addition to the above mentioned results. IU comes back tomorrow to face Stanford. Drew Hughes picked up a win by fall against Northwestern tonight. Central Michigan's Drew Hildebrandt picked up a 6-0 win against Kyle Akins of Buffalo. At Wartburg, Kris Rumph gets another win at 149. Kobe Woods drops a decision at 197. At Chattanooga, Connor Tolley split two matches this week. He won tonight against The Citadel and lost earlier this week against Appalachian State. Blake and Forrest Glogouski both picked up wins tonight for Lake Erie College.
