State Day 1: Results and Discussion

Recommended Posts

What's crazy about the Farnell and Hartleroad 4 over 1's is that the wins look so impressive and deserved. But then in both cases, the 2s and 3s that finished ahead of them last week lost fairly convincingly to the guys who lost to the #1 that they just beat. Ha

Nice win for Woodall 5-3 over Chicione.  Thought he looked good last week at NC. Gotta feel for Chicioe though, undefeated then loses twice and done. Tough for sure...

Chicoine definitely had to have a potential Clark rematch in the back of his mind after almost beating him last week and having made it to the final last year. It goes to show once again that upsets don't mean someone was overrated in many cases--anyone can lose.

How common is it for IN to have TWO nationally ranked wrestlers lose on Friday Night?  Feels like this usually never happens.

Not common. Don't know if it ever happened. Andrew Davison losing when he was #2 in the state and nationally ranked is the only other one that comes clearly to mind.

Maligned, since we dont have wrestle backs,  do you believe this adds more pressure to ranked wrestlers.  And as a result, the 1st round is an elimination match..  Does this cause wrestlers to  tighten up, creating more upsets then usual.

Winged him up real good in the second! I thought they would’ve called it then.

Looking at it pretty close up on TV it was pretty clear but the ref was on the other side.

Fewest people I have seen at a State Finals. Makes sense when you move it  to the farthest south west point in the state. IHSAA is actively trying kill off wrestling.                                       Only good thing is the wrestling.

I’ve driven three hours each way to the state finals for 45 years. Quit being a baby.
