Very sorry everyone. I was on a 2 week trip moving my family from East Africa to the U.S., and just got back on Sunday. It means some of the info behind the procedures we use for Team State qualification is behind schedule. Usually we'd shoot for Wednesday/Thursday leaderboard release after sectional weekend. Sadly, it will be later than that, but we're hoping for getting it out before regional. Thanks for your patience!!

Some barn burners during the Welch years. I remember having good conversations w/ Castle and MD parents. Very respectable towards each other but wouldn't mind if each got hit by a bus.

Crown Point and Brownsburg wrestled TOUGH schedules, if neither school has an undefeated wrestler.

In my estimation, a real rivalry has to stand the test of time. The more time that is elapsed, the better the rivalry. By that measuring stick, MD has two great rivals- Reitz and Perry Meridian. The Reitz rivalry is detailed in the previous post. The PM rivalry began in the late 1970's when Perry Meridian and Mater Dei competed in the same semi-state. Who could possibly forget Jeff Parkinson's 1981 controversial victory over PM's Steve Adams in the semi-state semifinal match? Legendary coaches Mike Goebel and Phil Strader had words with the referee and each other. Let's get it on! The state individual and dual meet series has been dotted by PM/MD dust-ups. Nearly every year, MD and PM boys bang heads at the Gainbridge in high-stakes matches. More than once, it has been for all the marbles. MD's coach, Greg Schaefer and PM's Middle School coach, Shaun Richardson went for the blue ribbon, under the lights. During the team state era, MD and PM delivered big-time for their fans. MD hung it on the Falcons their first three meetings at team state. The last IHSAA team sanctioned event was in 2012. The Perry juggernaut beat the 'Cats in the semi final and ultimately won the gold. MD fans had grown accustomed to winning this event. Losing to their arch-rival was a bitter pill to swallow. Three years later, the Wildcats returned the favor, beating PM for the IHSWCA title in 2015. It was a pinnacle achievement for MD, as this edition of the Wildcats have never defeated the Falcons at a grade school, middle school or high school level. For my money, there is nothing much more satisifying than beating PM and nothing much painful than losing to them.

Castle/EMD is an interesting one, I would say during the regular season in any sport I played in we wanted to beat Castle pretty bad, but come state weekend I was usually hoping Castle would win unless they were playing/wrestling us.

I believe Baker only pinned Dickman in Greco. In Freestyle Dickman TF'd baker at Fargo.

Big wins this week for Silas beating up on Andrew Davison and visibly broke Amos with a 7-2 win, with over 3 minutes riding time, take down and a sweet Granby kip sequence to reverse Amos, after a early slick throw for Amos, it was 1 way traffic For The good guy!! His pops @Perseverance up there in heaven smiling.

1. The ticket stuff will be fixed this year per Robert Faulkens. That was likely a server issue as they didn't expect to have that much demand and were not prepared. 2. No clue 3. Both are around 10,000 in a hockey setup. Both are basically a smaller version of Gainbridge Fieldhouse with great views no matter where you are.

i can't imagine anyone not agreeing with this... still... it is rare a free wrestler still brings me joy to watch... i did watch the 86kg bronze medal matches and mostly all i felt was bored and slightly offended...

Emami wasn't good the whole day, that win against Salkazanov was huge but then Salkazanov lost to Japan in the repechage too. obviously in a terrible shape. this was a good waking call for Emami, sometimes you can learn more for a defeat. Emami has all tools to become the world champion soon but just not yet.

Hell of a day for Waldon!!!

The stupid LC invite that we hosted Friday and Saturday after thanksgiving was awful and I still have ptsd from setting up mats and cutting on thanksgiving.

I was close. 23-14 PSU. A fun dual that really could have gone either way.

None of these compare to the greatest rivalry of all though. Grandma's home cooked Thanksgiving feast vs. the weigh-in scale at the tournament that Saturday.

Come watch it at Sidelines in Avon. We are always showing wrestling on the big screen every Friday! It's a bar for wrestlers. Drop the kids off at Red Cobra and watch Ohio St. Michigan.
