  2. Here is one that everyone is overlooking. I have followed this Sport since my days watching Bryan Bailey Dominate at our HS of Martinsville. This wrestler was over looked cause of the Highly successful guys in his years. Win you finish under the Lights with guys like Tsirtsis, Escobedo, Maurer, Coughlin, Humphrey, Elkins you are a very talented wrestler. Not to come out as the top guy on that Podium says a lot about Indiana Wrestling. The HS Carrer that CHARLIE PINGLETON has was great and should be considered a Top 5 to come up short. Great Family and away of him back in those days. BT19

  6. I noticed that a couple of freshman wrestlers met in the Maryville Kaufman Brand Open finals in the amateur division at 174 pounds. In a re-match from last year's IHSAA State Finals 3rd/4th place match, Derek Blubaugh (UIndy via Bloomington South) gained a bit of revenge by defeating Elijah Mahan (Lindenwood via Roncalli) 12-6 in the tournament finals. Mahan defeated Blubaugh 13-10 to capture 3rd at 170 pounds at State last season.

  7. Hayden Lohrey (Purdue) also had a great day and took 1st at 165 in the amateur division. He defeated the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers and didn’t give up a takedown all tournament. One Match of note was defeating Nathan Conley (UIndy)7-2 in round 2.

    Most wins in a Season

The most with today's rules is 66 BEFORE the stat series 6 single duals 6 two-point events that are all two-day 10 match events It's not likely, but still possible. Add in 3 matches from sectional, 3 from regional, 4 from semi-state and state and you get 82. FYI, I didn't have to take my shoes off to count!

  17. Eastern Greene High School is in the beginning process of starting a wrestling program. We would like to start a club this winter and move into having a high school and middle school team next year (20-21). We have interest by athletes, in the community and have quality experienced coaches ready to run the program. We are looking for ideas for different fundraisers and/or whom to reach out to for sponsorship/donations. We are currently in need of everything. If you have any ideas or have wrestling equipment you would like to donate or sell at a discounted price please feel free to reach out to me rbruce@egreene.k12.in.us We appreciate all of your help as we dive into this new endeavor. Sincerely, Roy Bruce, Jr.

  18. You are getting your feathers ruffled over something you know nothing about. Just because someone is speaking on a topic, doesn't mean they are talking about you. You are making just that, an ASSUMPTION. I didn't assume anything, I simply said I was happy that these young men found their best academic fit. If it was for other purposes, that is not for me to decide or discuss.

  19. I’ll only indulge you because the two young men you are referencing above have completely different situations. To generalize them as equal is irresponsible. I do love how people always assume kids pursue Cathedral purely for athletics. Athletics is just a minuscule upside of the Cathedral experience. Stop by campus sometime and see for yourself.

  20. No, I was not. Your assumption is incorrect. I was simply saying that these young men that jump from school to school are obviously doing it for academic purposes, because per the IHSAA, doing it for athletic purposes is considered a violation. I was actually saying I was happy for them because they have obviously found the best educational institution for them after trying several of them out.

  21. I assume you are referring to Cathedral’s 100% graduation rate and 99% college placement rate? If so, you’d be spot on. How are the graduation rates and college placement at your schools? If you want to improve your kid’s chances to prepare for or get into college, send them our way. The $15k tuition is quite a sacrifice, but they’ll be part of an amazing campus culture and most likely be a part of a winning extracurricular. The Cathedral Open House is tonight! Come check it out for yourself from 7-9pm. No invitation required. The Wrestling Center will be open with the rest of our facilities. Come one, come all!
