  1. I know Purdue is staying in the matmen. While it won’t be the same field, it appears to be solid.
  2. He is getting his first dual meet start at 165 this weekend at Iowa State. I Can’t tell you how hard he has worked to get to this point. He has shoulder surgeries in each of the past 2 years (same surgery on each one) on top of having to close the gap to get into the lineup. Glad to see him finally getting his payoff. Great kid.
  3. Maryville/Kaufman Brand Open Hayden Lohrey (Purdue) took 1st at 165 in the amateur division. He defeated the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers and didn’t give up a takedown all tournament. One Match of local note: defeated Nathan Conley (UIndy)7-2 in round 2.
  4. Hayden Lohrey (Purdue) also had a great day and took 1st at 165 in the amateur division. He defeated the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers and didn’t give up a takedown all tournament. One Match of note was defeating Nathan Conley (UIndy)7-2 in round 2.
  5. Have 2 at Purdue as well (Pokorney and Lohrey).
  6. Great win for Hayden. I think he is still quite aways way from his ceiling and his best days are ahead of him at the college level (which he will be announcing this week). He really didn’t start wrestling year round until his junior year. His CIA crew is helping him tremendously.
  7. One kid had heart, one kid put it on autopilot.
  8. Anyone know if there is a link available yet to watch tonight’s matches online?
  9. Aiden Warren @145 will be a tough out as a 4.
  10. Also hard to believe is that he is a very young junior. He is a young 16 and I believe he will graduate as a 17 year old next year. 2 years ago as a 14 year old freshmen He was beating ranked 18 year old ranked wrestlers at 170. Very special talent.
  11. Does anyone know when these are announced?
  12. Best predictions I’ve seen...some of those nicknames are pure Gold.
  13. I’ll have to ask Him about that fastball.
  14. I know I’m essentially echoing everyone else’s thoughts here, but having a family member on his team for the past 6 years I have had the pleasure to watch this young man wrestle on a regular basis. I just want to say I have been around a lot of high school athletes over the past 20 years. It’s easy for a kid as talented as Silas to develop an ego. I have never met a more humble, polite, appreciative young man that takes nothing for granted. While he is obviously a great athlete, he isn’t a kid that was just born with ability, he has truly worked for everything he has accomplished. It has been a pleasure to see his development and it will be fun to watch him continue his journey towards his ultimate goal.
  15. I will be on a tight afternoon schedule and trying to decide if I will make the hour drive tomorrow. Can anyone recall ABOUT what time they start the finals? Only about 90 or so matches until the finals.
  16. I was there for that 13 hour day. People saw Shenandoah pop up in the 1A polls the last couple of years. If they would have been able to keep that middle school group together, they would have competed for a state title. They had the Williams kid that lost to Jack Kiser in the finals in OT (moved away). They also had Jordan Slivka, Dallas Pugsley (SQ), Hayden Lohrey (lost to Asa in the finals that year and looking for his 3rd trip to the bank this year) AJ Black 2x State runner up, and Silas Allred (you may have heard of him). John Slivka did a great job building that program when these kids were in middle school before they moved to Cathedral. I can’t imagine seeing a better 1A team.
  17. I was told that It is cancelled
  18. I don’t want to take anything away from the Perry kid, but this was decided by the ref. Lohrey had him down 13-2, had him cradled 3 times and the ref wouldn’t call the pin. The kid rolls him over and the ref immediately smacks the mat.
  19. All 3 won and Shenandoah finished 5th overall and 1st in 1A
