Not my greatest wrestling memory but I tell the story of getting booed out of Rec Hall. I was wrestling heavyweight at 205 and lost 6-2 to 2 time AA and MMA fighter Pat Cummins. I was just trying to survive and stalling a lot. I can still here those boos and that wasn't in their strongest years. I'm sure he will one day tell the story because it is a good story. The other funny part of that trip was when Greg Schafer and I were in the van together he said "Sisson I liked you when you were wrestling 184 but the minute you started wrestling heavyweight I hated you. I hate all heavyweights!" My feelings would have been hurt if the giant Mt Dew I was drinking and Doritos I was eating at the time didn't taste so good.

2004 portage team was the first team to beat EMD in the state dual tourney. At least we have that going for us lol

yes that Mater Dei team was that scary..my team had 5 state qualifiers on it and 11 SSQ and they beat up by 60 plus.. they were UNREAL

Asa got it done when it mattered the most... the battles between Ty and Asa were both awesome and gut wrenching as a parent. Those two were battle tested when it came time for the State Series and it shows with their results. Neither had any fear when we saw each other in the Dual, County, Conference, Sectional, Regional, Semi-State and State! @TeamGarcia and I would just smile at each other win or lose because there is no better way to get better than to see that type of competition week in and week out. Do I wish a couple of those red rings were blue, absolutely... but I am extremely proud of those two boys since seeing them battle it out when they were 7 or 8 in the CWA room, partners in MS and rivals in HS! Congrats to Asa and his family on an awesome HS Career!!! Now, we're gonna prepare to flip the script when it comes time for the NCAA's!!!

Now you know I how felt when Miranda weighed in at 106 Ty's freshman year at our Dual... I was like, well... let's get it on! No where to run, no where to hide! It set the tone for the next 3 years, wrestle the best and see where you shake out! I'd bet we get 3 NCAA Champs from Hendricks County: 125 - Hudkins, 133 - Garcia, 141 - Mills (just don't tell the Red and Lee kids about our plans!)

Miss those days bro, wish we could rewind time do it all over again going all the way back to MS days when it was not so hectic . Actually watched a few of the battles on huddle a couple days ago . 2015-16 was some of the best back and forth wrestling . Asa would win one, next weekend Ty win. They wrestled each other 6x that year, I believe that Ty won (4), Asa (2) . Round 1,2,3,4,5,6 Not going to lie that year I was worried, Ty coming off his Runner Up 106, I text you later that year in 2015 right before season. We’re going 106, I was thinking to myself maybe he’d say 113.... text ..... you said so are we. You said there can only be 1 State Champ coming out of Hendricks County at 106. I said damn it ! Laughed, then so be it . Lol. After they lose to each other they drop in the Rankings . I kept telling @ontherise219 i’d keep them where they started the year. Did he listen nope. Dropped them both cause they was beating the hell out of each other. I think he learned a lesson that year . Lol Good times & great memories. College match... ? Guess there can only be 1 NCAA Champ from Hendricks County to huh ?

After MS state we have quickly finalized the teams with firm commitments from all of the below kids to finalize the rosters. It should be noted that this is the quickest we have gotten all commitments locked down and to my recollection the most 1st and 2nd place finishers to make up the teams. I have to admit I was skeptical about the early weigh ins affecting this and it appears it had no affect on getting the best kids to participate in the Team IN teams for Heartland Duals so to Center Grove people I say thank you for all you have done to make this years MS state a success. This year’s state tournament was a low scoring affair for the champs in comparison to the past three years, but nonetheless this Cathedral team went through hell and came out on top. While I think last year’s team was the best Cathedral team of all-time, this year is in the top three as it is a state title team. What other teams do you guys think showed the best versions of themselves? I’d give a nod to Avon. A program that’s been on the come up for years and after wrestling above their seed at IHSWCA Team State, I thought the state finals was their breakout performance that showed the true heart of the Orioles and that they belong in the conversation of powerhouse programs in Indiana. I’ll give some more teams a shout out below. Who do you guys think is the best version of a specific team? The entire team was tough! But Hesseltine unfortunately didn’t get his title. But that spladle was nasty!

I've watched the match a couple times now. I loved how game he was and that he didn't stall out or lay down. He was attacking the best wrestler in the country relentlessly and was smart to slow play the escapes (even though he got dinged a couple times for stalling) to avoid the cradles. He wasn't ever going to win but that didn't stop him from trying like hell.

Not for weeks together but maybe days for National Teams together. It’ll be fun to see them all together. If you go back to Elementary & MS days Moran, Rooks, South, was on some same teams together. I’m sure they rolled around in practice together.

How bout the 2004 Griffith team w Escobedo tsirtsis and Hernandez

This is based on a combination of dual meet strength and team scoring. The 2014 Perry Meridian team you mentioned was a very talented group. The 2014 squad went 23-2 that year, suffering a shocking loss at the hands of Franklin Community, 27-26, followed by a foolish loss to a game Penn squad, and finished 4th at both the IHSWCA State Duals and IHSAA Finals with only three placers in LeCount, James, and Elliott, among eight total qualifiers. Not to mention, they led the majority of the tournament with just those three making it through Friday, consolation rounds allowed Cathedral, Franklin, and Yorktown to pull ahead of them. The Cathedral team that won the title that year won in one of the most unconvincing fashions. They finished 5th at IHSWCA State Duals and had six losses on the year losing to about every other top squad in Indiana. The best team from top to bottom that year was Franklin Community, in my opinion. Losing Petrole Friday night really hurt their chance at a team title. 20-0, Traicoff champs, IHSWCA State Duals champs, IHSAA Runners-Up. The following year, Perry Meridian, Mater Dei, and Penn returned as the big three of 2015. Mater Dei won IHSWCA State Duals over Perry Meridian, 31-27. Perry beat Penn 33-32 to get to the finals in a death match of a dual. That squad went 19-1 and Mater Dei went 23-0 that year if I remember correctly. EMD had secured the #1 dual ranking, but Perry Meridian was the #1 team in the power rankings heading into the postseason, but they had the most nightmarish semi-state meltdown I’ve ever seen. They were predicted to get about 8-9 through and they dropped like flies in the ticket round after advancing 13 through to New Castle. Also, another squad that was very good that I don’t think gets enough credit was the 2013 Warren Central team. At one point, I thought they were gonna figure it out and push past Perry, but injuries plagued the squad and my boy Georgio Blades had the unfortunate draw of Wes Bernard in the ticket round. They finished sixth that year at the IHSAA Finals, and don’t forget my 2011 Roncalli boys! Had the misfortune of Perry in the first round of Team State in 2011. Lost 35-27.
