  1. Loved it when Lee climbed up on the rail at Rec Hall and flexed to the audience. How about when Lee’s dad ran in front of the TV camera and posed? Exciting!

  2. You’re seriously going to try and compare a win at a dual meet in Rec Hall to a win that capped off an undefeated career and fourth state championship in front of a hostile Bankers Life crowd that was 90% against him? Get real. The C. Red hate is real and I don’t understand it.

  3. This has got to be a joke. He had him beat today. He didn’t get a stall call in the neutral position. He got them while he was on TOP CONTROLLING LEE. I seriously do not understand what you all have against CJ. The fact that he does a little dance to celebrate after big wins? Reece Humphrey literally break dances after matches and it’s all fun. CJ does a dance in good spirit after people doubt him and it’s, “Have some class, act like you’ve been there before.” The hypocrisy when it comes to this kid is ridiculous and it’s a shame you all hate to see him succeed.

  4. Dropping to the leg in the top position is a five second count and if you aren't off the leg it's stalling.

  5. With the postseason six days away, who are some of your favorites to win the team championship? I’ve got a few schools that could make a claim for the title with some heavy hitters. 1. Cathedral – My biggest favorite to win. They are the defending champions and probably have a lot they want to prove following their State Duals loss. I could see them put four under the lights in Seltzer, Mosconi, Rodgers, and Slivka, along with high placement from Bailey and Walendzak. 2. Evansville Mater Dei – Always expect EMD to bring the heat. They never make any tournament easy. With wrestlers like Freeman, Ross, Boarman, Egli bros, Lee, Dickens, and Parkinson, I’m sure we’ll see high performance and placement downtown. 3. Columbus East – A big threat to Cathedral’s run for dominance at Bankers Life. Cayden Rooks, Nick South, and Jacob Bolte all hold #1 rankings and the always tough Schnoegge could make a deep run and score lots of points for the Olympians. 4. Brownsburg – The returning runners-up showed that this year is far from a down one in Fort Wayne some weeks ago. I always expect quality from this team and while they may not have as many potential finalists, they could definitely bring in a high volume of players to rack up points. 5. Avon – The second best team in Hendrick’s County has a shot to be the best team in Indiana come February. The Orioles have heavy hitters in two-time champ, Asa Garcia, and nationally-ranked Carson Brewer along with Rioux, and Nathan and Tyler Conley. Stranger things have happened in Bankers Life. 6. Perry Meridian – A team who has sat upon the pinnacle of dominance along with the likes of EMD for quite some time now. Perry Meridian has had a down year to say the least but can really come alive should they get their guys to perform in the postseason. With Cottey being a clear favorite to win 106, we could also see him joined under the lights by Aiden Warren who has been nothing short of excellent this year. A couple of close encounters with Mosconi have been his only blemishes while being the only loss on what has been an otherwise phenomenal year for Cayden Rooks. Returning state runner-up Sam Fair and placewinner Brooks Davis could make deep runs at Bankers should everyone be healthy, not to mention Gabe Smith and Austin Lane who have been wrestling great. 7. Roncalli – The Southside Rebellion has come alive in recent years and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the hunt for the IHSAA Championship in February. Returning state champion Alec Viduya has one loss this season, but otherwise has wrestled great. Brayden Lowery is looking to finish on top this year. His pin last week over Walendzak proved he could go with anyone, bumping up a weight class and scoring six for his team. Tyce Freije, a returning placer, can also score lots of points for this squad. Heavyweight, generally one of the more coin flip weights has John Harris who could really turn in a high performance at Bankers should he make it. Last but not least, the always creative Elijah Mahan can beat anyone and make a huge run for the 170 crown and help the Rebels to win an IHSAA championship.

Whoa... hold up ! You got me mixed up with that crazy lunatic Pistol Pete guy that only loves Oklahoma State, Columbus East school colors, and 6 shooters and rifles in fancination stuff. MackG isn’t me, this guy posting a interesting topic about Counties . (pssss..... I think MackG has a thing for Counties himself) I just might of well..... so .... happen to be biased for TheCounty and where my kids was born raised in Delaware County where I grew up. Only like 2 Counties. If i wrote this up there ONLY be 2 Counties listed on there and might of forgot Allen County in the post entirely . LOL ! I only answered Mattyb about Hendricks County Wrestling . Mattyb might also like TheCounty. That’s all I got lol. The Notorious P.S. there is only one TheCounty = That’s Hendricks County

  9. 1prouddad, I’m sure your son or sons have never wrestled under the lights. It is bigger than a dual meet. CJ will give Nick all he wants the next time they wrestle.

  10. Never say never after a 5-4 match. Look, you are either clairvoyant or lack discernment completely.....I'm guessing the later. If he majored him I might play your game. He did not. What I saw was a close match. Penalty points decided that match. Even a person who makes arbitrary statements like you I would think could see that. But then I saw where you are from.....now I digress.

  11. Hypocrisy. We all talked about that high school final like it was the match of the century. Bankers Life was packed to the gills and the roof nearly came off the place (two matches later when Joe Lee won by pin you could hear a pin drop). Christian Pyles on Flowrestling called it probably the greatest high school final ever. There were almost three years of "will they meet? Oh, please I hope they meet. My life will be complete if they meet." Beforehand. And then, when Chad treats it like it was the match of the century and celebrates like a kid (he was a kid after all). The adults all say "how dare he? I'm shocked, shocked I say. He is giving me the vapors." I said it then, I will say it again. Who cares how he celebrates? Four years undefeated? Finishing with a win over a nationally acclaimed opponent? Have at it.

  12. Same thing for the state finals. He wanted no part of forcing the action against Lee then and still doesn’t now. Difference is, proper officiating can change the outcome of a match.

  16. that bothered me on the penalty points...each had a takedown...clearly Red is great at countering. Lee is better at hitting offense. Red is better on top. Red needs to turn up the pace a bit...if anything Red gets his mind right and turns the corner to go get another AA

  17. Well Red still shows he had the riding advantage over Lee, but he gets himself into a few bad positions and gets hit with stalling trying to hold on a little longer. You could see Red was a little hesitant at first but when he was on top to start the 2nd his confidence grew as he accumulated riding time. In the end Lee takes this one, but it was really a matter of penalty points deciding it. We may see this one again at Big10s.

  18. Lots of tying up and hand fighting to begin..... Red not initiating anything and doing nothing but stepping back to avoid Lee's shot attempts. Stall warning on Red. Lee gets in on a single leg. Red fights it off for a good 30-40 seconds and rolls through and gets hold of Lee's leg. Lee gets the leg free and spins behind for the takedown. Lee with a spiral ride. Red gets up, but Lee returns him and they go out of bounds w/ :05 left in the first period. After the first period, it's 2-0 Nick Lee. 2nd Period starts with Red on top. Lee starts to get out and changes to a switch attempt. Red hangs on for dear life and a stalemate is called with 1:05 remaining. Red hangs on and Lee comes close to getting out but Red hands on. Stall call on Red, 3-0 Nick Lee with :12 left. Period ends 3-0 Lee leading with Red having a 1:12 riding time advantage. 3rd Period starts with Lee on top. Red escapes with riding time reduced to :56. Lee gets in on a single, Red rolls though. Big scramble and Red gets the takedown. 3-3 all tied up with Red gaining riding time advantage again. Stalling on Red makes it 4-3 Lee as Red hangs on to Lee's legs. Lee stands up and gets the escape to take a 5-3 lead. Both wrestlers facing off in the middle. Red pushes the action for the first time. Lee gets a Stall warning as they go out of bounds. They lock up, Lee pushes Red and he falls down. Lee remains in the middle as time wanes. No takedown for Red as time expires and Lee takes a 5-4 win after Red's riding time is added. Nick Lee wins 5-4

  30. Very exciting match tonight as Purdue and IU square off at 7 p.m. at Mackey Arena. I'm a Purdue student and Perry Meridian Wrestling alumn currently covering wrestling for Purdue's student newspaper, The Exponent. I had a chance to talk to Coach Ersland and Jacob Aven yesterday after practice, and tried to highlight some of the match ups between Indiana guys in my preview article. https://www.purdueexponent.org/sports/mens/wrestling/article_fc0966d0-1b35-11e9-983b-af97b5d99edb.html Aven was very in tune with everything going on in High School wrestling, and felt that many of the wrestling fans present tonight will cheer for both sides. Let's hope for a great night of wrestling!

  32. On a side note, Team Garcia listed 28 counties with a state championship wrestler in the last 10 years. I guess that makes 64 counties that doesn't have a state championship. I won't use that stat to start the annual "class wrestling" argument, but it does make you think. Also, what does that mean that if the county you live in doesn't have a state championship? I'm not mentioning names. Another observation, why is the geographical breakdown by county relevant? I think Team Garcia has a fascination for counties.
