The one that I just can't erase off the DVR is the one where Micic dismantled Luke Pletcher and Parris beats Singletary to ice the win for the team. Go Blue!

    Doug Annakin(backtothemat)

I knew of Doug for many years as I went to HS with his sister and ran in the same circle with his wife at times. I got to know Doug in recent years through FB and wrestling. We hung out in a suite at the E'ville Semi-state in 2019. We talked wrestling and a bit about his cancer. I know he was traveling from Evansville to Chicago every other weekend for treatments. I'm sad that I didn't know he had taken a turn. He was always positive. I hadn't spoken to him since right around SS/State this year, so I was surprised to hear the news. As others have mentioned, Doug was a great guy and his obit described him correctly in every aspect I knew. I know his family will be okay. His wife Peggy is strong and has great family and lots of friends to help her through. While I no longer live in Evansville and our communications were occasional, I feel like I lost a friend. Maybe that's the best testament to what kind of guy he was.

I think he’s going to have a bright future. He’s a kid I see that could’ve flourished at the D1 level

Checking for interested teams- the NWCA (National wresrling coaches association) hosts the NWCA National duals on January 8th/9th, 2021. This has the top D2, D3, Naia, Juco, NCWA, and Women’s teams competing for a nationals dual meet title! Many of our former Indiana Hs wrestlers now competing in college will be wrestling there. Last years info: http://www.nwcaonline.com/news-events/events/2020-nwca-multi-division-national-duals/ This is held in the louisville fairground convention center and freedom hall (current concert venue and former home of louisville cardinal basketball)- big stadium! The NWCA has asked me to put together teams primarily from Indiana and Kentucky as a “border war” for a tourney. but after discussion we want this to be open to any team within our travel sanctions. i am looking for teams that might be interested to wrestle our dual meet tourney along side these college teams! teams invited: formulating that now format: a lot depends on the number of teams we get and who there you want to see! But ultimately we are looking to have 2-3 matches on Friday night and 5 on Saturday. interested teams email coach struck dstruck@gccschools.com more questions? Text me at 8127862308 (I realize this is state duals weekend many years, we hope to be able to accommodate teams each year that want to go in and out of these two tourneys as well)

Nice to see this for a change, in the program. I would consider this progress for the coaches. To be able to have options is a sign that more kids are taking an interest in Indiana. Hope this happens with all the weights.

I coached a 15 u team at this event last year. It’s pretty cool. Lots of mats and lots of good wrestling. I am sure that a high school division will be ran right. I would highly recommend doing this event.

May want to checkout wrestlestat.com they have updated their line ups to reflect current rosters and projected starters. They do a solid job. If you haven’t checked out that site, you may want too. Super way to keep up with college wresting. https://www.wrestlestat.com/

Damn. I’m so sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with Baxter and his family. He loved watching Baxter wrestle and was so proud of him and the man he’s become. I shared a suite with Doug at state 4 years ago and I’m so glad my path crossed with this great gentleman. Doug provided a shoulder to cry on and advice that helped me thru one of the toughest couple months I’ve ever experienced as a wrestling parent this past winter. I shall be forever grateful. Eternal peace grant unto him O Lord. What a great tribute to him in the obituary. Spot on to who Doug was.
