  1. Man.. I love seeing these young go getters on this board trying to find opportunities. Joe is doing these kids a solid with this forum. With this said, can we get a pinned topic for a free agent list? A place people can go to show interest to wrestle and a place where teams can post open spots? Just hate to see things get buried on the board if these kids really want it! What do you say @Y2CJ41????

  5. I would argue that McKenna was gassed at the end of all three matches. Last year the difference was he had riding time. Lee gave up a bad take down with 1 second left on the clock at the end of 2 to loose the lead. He tied it at 6 in the third but couldn't overcome the riding time point. The dual this year Lee was down 5-1 after 1 and then out scored McKenna 6-1 the rest of the way. When Lee got the final take down with about 30 seconds to go McKenna had nothing left and barely made an attempt to get off the mat. In the B1Gs it was almost a similar story. McKenna goes up 5-1 with Lee giving up another bad take down with 3 seconds to go in the first. The difference this time is McKenna puts on a clinic on how to defend. There are at least two shots that look like he is definitely giving up 2, but he keeps wrestling and fights off the take down (Flo calls it Matrix level D). In the third McKenna is very slow to return to neutral and Lee does get the take down on his second attempt with about 2 seconds left. I think if Lee finishes the first attempt in the third we see the same ending as last time. But he didn't. And all credit goes to McKenna for stopping him. That said, let me paint a scenario for you. Its Friday night and Lee is facing McKenna in the semis. They both wrestled Friday morning. McKenna looks bigger than Lee. That is because he is bigger. He has to cut harder to make weight. He has to stay at weight all day. Hard to do without an effect on the energy levels. Lee is more natural at 141 and is less affected by multiple weigh ins. Now Lee avoids giving up the silly take down with zeros almost showing on the clock. It is a close match because they are closely matched, but McKenna finds himself even more gassed than normal in the third. Lee/Diakomiholis under the lights Saturday night.

  9. At least you can take solace in the fact that it was IU basketball (and UofI) that prevented Michigan State from getting a 1 seed.

  13. I agree to a certain extent. In the two matches McKenna has won, he is slowing down in the third but has just enough left to hang on for the win. In the one win for Lee, as you stated McKenna had nothing at all left in the 3rd. Your theory about the weight cut definitely has some logic & isn't far fetched, but I'm not to sure that what you're calling silly mistakes by Nick (takedowns at the end of periods) isn't Mckenna earning those points purposely at a timely moment. All 3 of their collegiate matches have been extremely similar. Let's hope Nick can find a way to win at this most important time. He has proven he can.

  14. That's awesome! It has the formulas in cells so that you could replicate it for your own use in the future. I love pick'em and bracket games. This may be the ticket I was looking for to create a wrestling bracket, like I do for college hoops and hockey. Thank you and to whoever created this awesome spreadsheet!

  15. Might be both Indiana Gold & Blue Teams beat Illinois in the same year . That might of not been done in many years ?

  16. We had a very good team in 2017 that beat a very good Illinois team

  17. Streck finishing top 4 in the Big Ten this year seems a bit of a stretch to me. Getting six in is a bit empty in my opinion when none are seeded in the Top 10 and three of the six are seeded in the bottom half of their bracket. They'll need some serious upsets just to have anyone still alive on Day 2.

  20. Up to him. He legit eats them everyday. Really just planning on going up representing the state, taking care of business, and not ruffling any more feathers at culver. All about team Indiana. Same as it has always been all the other times that he represented on a national team. It’s gonna be a great dual.

  21. How about Todrank at 157? I know he is listed as 141/149 for Buffalo but he did score 2 on Nolf and instantly went viral. He may not win any matches but at least it would be entertaining.

Not sure why this matters to you. He moved his family 150 or more miles away to a better opportunity for him and his family. Not across town to Mater Dei or Memorial or Castle. Hard to argue that he isn't going to a better school and that his dad didn't get a better job. And maybe it was partially for a better wrestling opportunity too. Can you blame him? Maybe KT gets a scholarship to wrestle in college that he never would have gotten had he stayed at the same school in Evansville. Think about that. That move could change the kids life. Good for him for having the guts to go.

  23. At 149, I'd take a full-sized Brayton Lee over an overweight Red. He was 26-7 this year wrestling unattached for Minnesota and just beat two WrestleStat Top 30 guys (including the Cal Baptist guy who was the D2 national champ last year) while winning the National Collegiate Open. I'd leave McCormick up at 165 where he belongs over a sucked down Hughes. McCormick is rolling right now. Finding a 157 would be the challenge. You could be right that it would maybe have to be someone who sucked down (maybe Brad Laughlin with his 18-10 record backing up McCormick), but Kasper McIntosh had a winning record wrestling unattached for Minnesota and Mason Gaines and Brett Johnson were NAIA national qualifiers. At 184, our best option might be Thomas Penola, who looked tough in open tournaments for Purdue this year (16-7).

Straight from the indystar. States Brownsburg has the best combined scores. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.indystar.com/amp/1507804002 Here is the link. Not sure a bad stat is the correct term. I believe it is all relevant, happy and lucky to be at one of the best schools in the state.

  25. Definetly hurts losing Streck, he’s probably top 4 in the Big Ten this year. I really like Ersland for what he has done on the recruiting trail, but these good recruits aren’t getting any better. Parriot has been a huge disappointment so far, Brunner hasn’t really changed in 3 years, and guys like Schroeder, Limmex, and Lyon are just ok. Lydy has been awesome. After watching him in high school and his freshman year, I thought he’d end up being a lineup placeholder, not a potential AA. If this was a more wrestling focused school, I’d say Ersland could be on the hot seat, but as long as they send the majority of the lineup to nationals and stay a ranked duel team, he’ll be staying.

Why is this a debate ? @Matthew Nelson Said he did for the better of his Family. Doesn’t matter where, he made the best decision for kid(s). I did the same thing 12 years ago , Muncie to Avon . Gotta do what’s best for them . You posters wanna talk like he did something wrong . He moved his family like ***(175) MILES away*** Lol . Not like it’s 5 miles away or to a different neighborhood thats 15 mins away in Evansville.

  27. in my opinion brownsburg braden haines will be the “dark horse” in an out of a great brownsburg lineup and finished 4th at a very deep 120 bracket was impressive
