IHSWCA Team State Duals in Evansville

Can someone send me Trent McCormick's email address? Or, Trent, can you confirm that you read this?

Ashley Vezzoso, Director of Sales for the Evansville Visitors and Convention Bureau, has contacted me about hosting next year's event.  The EVCB is extremely aggressive about attracting new events.

The University of Southern Indiana has a fieldhouse that is the size of three basketball courts which features retractable and portable seating.  Also available is the Ford Center, our 3-year old, 150MM facility.  It is large enough to host a 3-ring circus and seats 11,000.

Our Convention center has 38,000 square feet, which is roughly the size of four basketball courts.

Evansville has a vibrant downtown, the Tropicana casino and many historical attractions.  Historic Franklin street contains a plethora of bars, restaurants and a micro brewery.  Ask anyone who attended semi state if they had fun at the Gerst Haus reception...

With the near-completion of I-69, it is very easy to get Evansville.  One can be in downtown Indy in 2:40;  We drove from my home to Fort Wayne in 4:20.

I vote Evansville!!!!!

Coaches meeting at Gerst Haus!!

What Joe is saying that w/ all the complaints of cramped quarters, to have pool action and 5-9th placement matches at USI and Evansville Convention Center then have all the finals at Ford Center would be awesome!!!

The Expo center that they used this past weekend was 73,000 sq feet, just a little gauge on what would be needed.

Is that really what Joe is saying, I read this a couple of times back and forward and it just doesn't seem like this is what Joe is saying but I like it...........lol !!!!!!

If you haven't been to the Ford Center, there is not a bad seat in the house.

The Ford Center's main floor can be a maximum of 100'X250'. With a standard 40x40 mat that doesn't leave much room for team seating.

If we could somehow work out a schedule with 8 or 10 mats this might be feasible.

It's actually 85' wide x 200' long unless we pull in the retractable seats, which would then give you about 30 more feet of length.

I would not recommend the exhibit hall at the convention center. It would be hard to see without any kind of theater style seating. Views would SUCK.

Markio, 85' wide has to be wrong. When we are there for semistate they put the mats down two wide. If the mats are the smallest allowed for high school wrestling that is 38 feet times two which would be 76 feet wide. There is much more than nine feet of combined space around the mats.

I'm the production manager at the Ford Center, I promise it's 85' wide. Standard hockey rink width. We lay the mats 4 across.

There is a bill in congress that may annex Evansville into Kentucky, so we may want to put an end to this idea.

If it's in Congress it will never pass... And Kentucky knows we would just take over anyway.

Anything beats having to drive to Southern Michigan just to watch our kids kick Northern butts.
