145 will be interesting.  Nate Anderson from Columbus East lost by 1 after a 3rd period reversal to a very tough Asher Ratliff from North in the sectional championship last weekend.  He was last years regional champ at 132 and beat a tough Coy Bender of Terre Haute South at team state last month.  if both get through tough semi matches it will be a fun rematch in the finals.

Bradley Owen from Jeff is a sleeper at 145. He's tough, looked really good last weekend at Sectionals. "He Built Different"

  2. There are story lines at the upper weights

182 - After winning regionals as a freshman, Van Skinner has been battling Olympians, can he shake what's become his kryptonite and pick up another regional championship?

195 - Can any one stop the human Tank from Scottsburg, Bryson Matta?

220 - The Morrill of story here is no one is stopping Tommy 220

285 - Land/McMahon 3 - McMahon won a wild one at Jeff Duals, there was like 30-35 points on the board, then he takes the HHC title in a little less dramatic fashion. But Land is a triple-crowner and as mentioned above, we are at Jeff, will the day finish w/ the Red Devin on top?

  3. We are a week away from the Great Evansville SS write up featuring the Barry Horowitz Curtain Jerkers.....

The Jeff Regional constantly gets slept on... .but what matches will want you to make sure you have your Heine Bros coffee early and in the door by 9:30am Saturday morning?!?!?

106 -Nolan Riley, Freshman Columbus North vs Brayden Walters, Freshman Salem

113 - Dakota Fields, Sophomore Switzerland County vs Hunter Pitts, Senior Corydon Central

120 - Eli Stewart, Sophomore Madison vs Eli Theobald, Junior Providence

126 - Collin Cain, Senior Jeffersonville vs Keegan Gross, Junior Southwestern

           -  Ricky Bogard, Sophomore Seymour vs Noah Phillips, Freshman Charlestown

138 - Bo Wagner, Senior Columbus East vs Cole Bagshaw, Senior Silver Creek

145 - Jonah Mathews, Junior Jennings County vs Gabe Pugh, Senior Eastern

152 - Jordan Guerrero, Freshman Charlestown vs Sam Chandler, Senior Seymour

160 - Evan Bowling, Junior Salem vs Mitchell Williams, Senior Columbus East

170 - Skyler Maisttison, Senior Borden vs Evan Saevre, Sophomore Columbus North

           - Zander Hobbs, Sophomore Jeffersonville vs Ayden Waggoner, Sophomore Madison

Don't Miss - 138 - The best weight class by far of the day. Some dirty Semis.....

Don't Miss - Finals at 120 and 126 - Can the Corydon Connection of Owsley and Schreck keep the Panthers rolling into Semi-State? Lights out finals matches here as Freshman phenom Peyton Richards will go to battle w/ Jayden Owlsey and two state ranked wrestlers, #15 Zane Schreck and #9 Liam Krueger will battle for that big draw next weekend at Evansville.

Don't sleep on----- Switzerland County, The Young Gunz of from Wine Country come into regionals guns ablazing.....

But I still wouldn't sleep on ---- Bo Wagner, Columbus East, can he come back from a 4th place finish to Regional Champ?

And don't forget - ---- The Home gym factor for Jeff, The Red Devils wrestle a tough regular season schedule and are always battle tested by state tourney time. Having Regionals at home is a huge advantage and every year an "upset" happens.... who will step up this year?

That is an absolutely absurd to put a price on a competitive advantage. It is disgusting that the people in charge of this tournament let this happen.

Spicy..... I like it Y2, bring the fire!!!!

That being said, I'll be there w/ my 20 Saturday night.... hhahahaha

  5. "Folkstyle wrestling is not Freestyle. You don't get a point for pushing your opponent off the mat. It is actually supposed to be stalling on the wrestler doing the pushing if they are not actually working for a TD."

I actually got into it w some parents at Jr High match over this. An upperweight just kept pushing our girl off the mat and making zero attempts, the other coaches were doing their best drama class act and getting the stall calls. Ridiculous.

  6. I reffed and a kid compete at North.

It's a win win all around, good for programs, good for state. It can make state and being a state qualifier feel more special going forward.

Also hats off to Jenn Ratliff for making certificates for all of the state qualifiers, not sure every regional did that.

I know Madison was pumped to have 12 state qualifiers and that can be used to grow the program!
