WrestleMan reacted to Cricket21 in How many wrestlers are playing for a title this weekend
Mater Dei football starters that are also wrestlers are the following:
Joey Pierre
Clay Martin
Austin Vanover
Tyler Vanover
Spencer Turner
There are more that are underclassmen, but above is roughly half of our starting roster. Congratulations to MD on bringing home a state title!

WrestleMan reacted to Jcjcjc in Indiana’s Best
When someone wins a sprinting event, we don’t look to see how many people ran the 100 meter dash in high school because we know the Olympic sprinter would smoke every single person in the world.
Hildabrandt and Miracle would smoke almost every single woman in the world on the mat, and it’s a big pretty big world.

I am not a MD guy, but I don't know how the All Time team is coached by anybody other than Mike Goebel.

WrestleMan reacted to SIACfan in NCAA Division I Nationals (Brackets Released!) Discussion Thread
I also want to thank all the Indiana wrestlers who ended their college careers this weekend.
Drew Hildebrandt
Brock Hudkins
Chad Red Jr
Stevan Micic
Andrew Davison
I'm sure I am missing some names but those are the ones I know of. You all made us proud.
Thanks very much!

WrestleMan reacted to SWINfan in Nick Lee GOAT?
He definitely needs to stop getting beat up on the mat. I haven't seen a top wrestler with more black eyes, cuts, blood etc. Or maybe he needs to get better at Dodgeball? It has been happening for several years now. 😉

WrestleMan reacted to Caleb Spires in Lee vs Red
I don’t think Chad had a disappointing career by any means. 3x(somewhat 4x) AA is a hell of an accomplishment, no matter what high school hype you had coming in.

This would be funny if I actually smoked. You just be too worried about me, my biggest fan. I’ll sign a We Are MD book for you and say “I love 03!” just for you.

WrestleMan reacted to VisionQuest87 in 2024 State Finals and NBA All-Star Game
There is no way State finals could be held on the same weekend as the NBA All-Star weekend. If you look at the number of people who attend this event, it's crazy. It's not just a game. It is a full weekend of events. There would be no hotel rooms, no where to eat and the number of people just walking around would be crazy. Only solution would be move it to another weekend. I just can not see having State finals any where else other than downtown Indianapolis. I know in the 80's we had it at New Castle because of the weather. I was there and it was not the same electric feeling as MSA, Conseco or now Gainbridge. Do not care what anyone says nothing compares to spending the weekend in Indy for State Finals.

WrestleMan got a reaction from MUSKEEWRESTLER in Hyatt Place/House Elevator Debacle
Apparently the expectation of common sense among people has become unrealistic. That is sad but probably can provide some insight as to why our country is headed the direction it is.

I’m not saying that using the term “Jesus Christ” wrong but when your 7yr old is watching with you and his first response is “daddy he said a bad word” now you have to explain to them. It was just not the appropriate time or place to express how excited you were.

I'm afraid I have to disagree on the first point. While I agree it is common, I don't think that makes it right. There are plenty of other things that could have been said in that instance. A simple "Wow, I've never seen that kind of raw strength!" would probably get the point across just as well. I completely agree on point 2 though. As a commentator you don't have to agree with the officials. You should be able to give your opinion as long as you can back it up with a rules interpretation that makes sense. Viewers should receive honest, unbiased, educated opinions from commentators.

They did the same thing to Mater Dei this year in the 2A state football finals. Who knew Mike Goebel coached football at Mater Dei? But, getting the kids' names wrong is worse. These kids work so hard to get to the state finals and make that podium. Its sad and disrespectful not to have their names right. I know mistakes happen but damn.

WrestleMan reacted to QuinnHarris in Wrestling Opportunities
Thank you Matt! We are headed in the right direction!
The Cascade team will be all over the place this summer. I think the difference is providing opportunities. Provide as many free opportunities as you can when it comes to practice/training. Offer to take kids to local RTCs and Open Rooms. Do whatever you can to give these kids every opportunity they could possibly want! At every single level from HS - Youth.

WrestleMan reacted to KoontzDaddy in Is Jesse the best ever?
Best ever. We can talk about excluding outside wrestling, but how do you do that? What he has done as a high school wrestler both in the state and out of state is beyond what any other Indiana wrestler has ever done, or could've done. He almost won U23 Nationals as a freakin' 17-year-old!!! I'm not saying he'll be better than Nick Lee is now, but as a high schooler he is unmatched by any other Indiana high schooler... Ever.

WrestleMan reacted to Y2CJ41 in Is Jesse the best ever?
I know it's been a few years but a couple minor, but important corrections....
Jason was 18 years old when he wrestled in the Last Chance Qualifier for the Olympic Trials and defeated Caldwell. This was NOT the trials, but a tournament that if you placed in the top 2 you qualified for the trials. There is a HUGE difference between the two events.

WrestleMan got a reaction from MUSKEEWRESTLER in The real team target for "best ever" is 161
The number wasn't just beaten, it was destroyed. Crown Point has a special special team. What they did was amazing. Records get broken. Mater Dei held it for almost 20 years. The depth and quality of Indiana wrestling seems to just keep getting better and from a fan's standpoint that's awesome. To see Jesse Mendez, Zeke Seltzer, Brody Baumann, Gabe Sollars and others go out and perform on the big stage was great. I can't wait to see what they do in college. The 2022 Crown Point team is the best ever, for now. That's nothing for Mater Dei to be upset about. Indiana wrestling is growing and getting better every year. We should all be happy about that.

I don’t see that happening but you wouldn’t hear me complain either
-
WrestleMan got a reaction from IU89 in EMD
Who said we would have done more without them? I just don't get your "mediocre" rating of a team that, without Critchfield and May, placed 4 wrestlers and took home 2 state titles. Is reading that hard?
