  2. Folks, we are looking to pack the Crown Point HS Main Gym this Saturday June 15th for one of our own CP alumni and one of the best to ever come out of the Region 2024 NCAA Champion Jesse Mendez. Also, there will be an autograph and celebration gathering at Station 21 right on Main Street downtown from 6pm to 9pm upstairs same day This Saturday June 15th, so its a well deserved Jesse Mendez day as he comes back home to give some of our young wrestlers some of his amazing skills and techniques. Let's pack the house people and this camp is open to all ages! Schedule goes as follows for this Saturday, Check in- 830am Session 1- 9am to 11am Lunch- 11am to noon- bring a bag lunch and or a cooler as food will not be provided Session 2- Noon to 2pm Cost- $100 cash or check written directly to Jesse Mendez Any Questions, please call or text me Bill Hawkins- 219-308-0603

  3. Congratulations to Valpo's Luke Reid, who won his division's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship today. Luke, who wrestled in the State Finals this season, works extremely hard every day in the wrestling room and is an even better teammate and person. I am so proud of you Luke. Coach Plesac

  4. Indiana finishes off their great run with a solid 3rd place finish over Iowa. California ran through Pennsylvania to win. Indiana was the only team in the event to be within 10 points of the Cali squad. I didn’t dig into the competition level, but would assume some guys on our team faces a few nationally ranked opponents during this event. Top individual results were: Case Bridge 6-1, Case Bell 7-1, Jenson Boyd 8-0, Clinton Shepherd 7-1, Thomas Gibbs 7-1, MJ Staples 7-1, and Lucas Boe 7-1.

  6. Christian Carroll to Iowa State. Says it's his "final destination" so we'll see how that works out. So far he has committed to Illinois and Penn (forgot about that one) took a redshirt year at Oklahoma State, and now is wrestling for Iowa State. This is on top of stints at Penn, Prairie Heights, and Jimtown in high school. I hope this works out and he becomes an AA/national champ there, but I think the kid still needs to figure stuff out.

  11. Cameron I’m from Eastside and DeKalb. I coached at Dekalb for 17 years. I get it. But trust me there are other factors than the size of the school that play into success. I give you total props on the success of your son and those around you. I saw you at everything for years and it is paying off. Leo has always had a great culture in wrestling. As a matter of fact I use to go to your room to train in high school with Mark Toarmina. Then I was close with the Hardley family. I can tell you this much I am pretty sure your wall of champions has more names on it than Homesteads. My goal is to change that but that has been a big lift. I have been head coach for 4 years now and had about 30 semi-state qualifiers but no one break the ceiling for me yet. Is it my fault? Well as a leader that takes ownership. Yes it is. So yes I take offense to it when my school gets brought up. You can go back and read every post I have ever written since this board was created. I have never talked negative about a kid or a team. What I have done is stick up for my wrestlers and anyone that talks about my team. Which is what I think a coach should do. Someone said Homestead was going to be a powerhouse and suddenly the sky was falling and size of schools and amount of semi-state qualifiers gets brought up. These statements were made by a Leo parent or wrestler which is how Leo got brought up by name. Sorry your wrestler or parent got trolled by a random parent that is probably a Homestead parent.

  13. Ugh, New Prairie. All I know is you’re both up north with Prairie in the name lol. Too bad it wasn’t Prairie Heights, would’ve brought a title to the best semi state.

  16. New Haven did a great job. It was a little windy but that made the warmer temps just fine for wrestling. IMO it was a near-perfect night weather and wrestling-wise. Thank you New Haven for hosting this fun event.

  17. At this point I wouldn't be shocked if we only see him wrestle in one national tournament. He's going to need to be able to settle in one place long enough to wrestle a full season. It has always seemed to me just by following him on social media that he likes working out and getting bigger and stronger more than actually wrestling. And making a move to 197 goes against wanting to get bigger, but he doesn't have the frame to get to be a good sized heavyweight.

    Iran wrestling news

Second match Geraei get a quick takedown and an exposure. Then from there Esmaeili scores four straight push outs and a takedown to win 6-4. Geraei looked better in the second.

  22. I say that a new rule for the board should be that if you plan to make a mystery post about wrestlers or teams that you should accompany it with a vidoetaped spoken promo. I need more entertainment value to go with my drama.

  23. I'm not pumping anything. We took 16 wrestlers to Virginia Beach and our off-season will be on point. I have 7 returning Seniors who all have Varsity experience and are at the least Semi-State level kids and they all have real ticket round potential wins in my opinion. I have been coaching them all since before Middle School. If you add Jordan Raines and Ian Hutchinson we got something special, we also have a few knocking the door behind all my kids that may be starters. On top of that, we fill those 106 and 113 holes we had last year with great freshmen coming in that will be immediate impacts. Remember these names Drew Heisler, Camden Raypole, Callen Olry, and John Bair, if you don't hear about them this coming year you will before it is all said and done. They also have a supporting group of incoming freshman around them that wrestling is a priority. As far as transfers go, out of all those schools Homestead and Leo have never had a transfer so not sure what you talking about there. We do have a wrestler who has always lived in our district have reasons outside of wrestling that is now on our roster and he will be a big impact. Yes, we had a very bad day at Regionals last year. That isn't happening again on my watch. All of those schools I help train their wrestlers and I love doing it, and you left East Noble off the list of top schools that are putting the work in. This has all been working in the background and great things are coming for our area for sure. My plan is for Homestead to be a big part of it and help lead the way. Call me arrogant or whatever you want but I know I put the work in. I'm on the ground in the grind every single day and I have been for the past 3 years. I took a job at the school system to get closer to the program. I'm tired of being downplayed. I absolutely can't wait till next year. #260 is here and it is only going to get better.

  24. Homestead as a 4a school qualified six for semi state and got one to the ticket round. Also graduating one of the kids that made it to semi state. Not saying they wont be good but a powerhouse is an overkill.

  25. Seems like B. Frazier and Moran may just have to battle it out at 125. As far as the other two spots, Rini wouldn’t have had the option for a redshirt during has under-grad time at Columbia since it’s an Ivy League. So could he be open to taking one as a grad-transfer. If so that’s at least a short term solution. Though it just punts that long jam until next year unless Porter and B Frazier still maintains 125 (not sure he’s a career 125). On the bright side at least Escobedo’s has options at a few weights where either could be competitive Big10 which is something that IU has not always had.

  33. At Center Grove state qualifiers are all named on the wall in the wrestling room; state placers are recognized with their photo in the "hall of fame" (which includes anyone recognized with All State honors in other sports). Basically, they use state placement synonymously with "All State" when it comes to wrestling.
