Bullock, up 5-0 early gave it away 6-5 by wrestling the rest of the match to "not lose". It didn't work. Carroll looked fantastic today and earned an 11-0 tech in the final. I can't stress enough how sharp he was. I would be surprised if he drops another 16-17 lbs and wrestles 197 next college season, but it's been mentioned as possible, at least by the guys on Flo.
Christian Carroll and Jacob Bullock are both in the finals at 97kg and 125kg, respectively. Carroll looks really good at 97, quick, and has wrestled really well, beating Iowa's Jacob Warner to get there. Derek Gilcher and Henry Porter also had nice days. Finals are at, I believe 3:00 on Flo.
Even as crazy as 25 was all season, it didn't wreck that many pickems here. Look at all of the zeros scored at 41 and 57, there was obviously no clear favorite. Only 5 finalists were picked total between those two weights.
@maligned I'll put the cart in front of the resident dead horse. What is the tiebreaker criteria? I would suggest;
1. Number of champions
2. Highest single finisher above seed
Agreed. Anything that puts him in the bottom bracket. Lewis now is robbed of the benefit that the 1 seed is supposed to provide, the easiest path, he would have been far better off as the 2. Sure, you have to beat everybody, but shouldn’t have to face the guy everyone knows is the best until the final. They factored in everything but common sense.
Not Indiana related, but Mekhi Lewis' prize for getting the 1 seed is facing Starocci in quarters. They should have made Carter the 2 or 3 to keep that from happening. Borderline criminal.
I shouldn't have even brought it up.
I think I figured out who you were at some point this season. You sit behind the scorer's table on the IU bench end? Very vocal, broad shouldered? I was going to introduce myself at the Chattanooga dual, but I didn't see you. Apologies if I am wrong.
