SO SAD! Prayers for his family, Connersville Athletics, New Castle Wrestling, and the student athletes he impacted along the way. Mac was a fierce competitor throughout his youth and high school career, always a battle to compete against him. Another great friendship that developed as competitors with respect to the great sport of wrestling. I enjoyed reminiscing when we crossed paths as coaches mat-side. Deepest condolences to his family and many, many prayers. I was one of Mac’s wrestling partners in practice for most of his high school run. I witnessed first hand his tenacity, fierce competitive spirit, and early willingness to help. Mac took me under his wing and taught me on and off the mat. Too many stories to tell. Whenever I got the chance to compete though, Mac would remind me that the toughest matches I had were against him in practice and motivate me to try my best. I had not seen Mac in a few years and my own son was at semi state in New Castle a couple of years ago. We got the brief chance to catch up and he shared some words of inspiration for my son. Such an incredible loss. He will be missed and remembered. Good man.

I have been very lucky to meet so many people and gain so much input from coaches and fans across the state over the last seven years with my involvement with the Team State tournament. My Condolences & Prayers from the Garcia’s Family

So sorry to hear this. Mac and his Dad were quite a pair and it was always fun to coach against him. Really got to know him when he came back to coach at Connersville. Mac always took time to say hello and talk about old times. Deepest sympathies from Arabian Wrestling to Mac's family and Spartan and Trojan Wrestling. RIP, Mac. Dave Cloud

I just saw this on FB. Such a great 4 year wrestler back in the 90s. So sad to hear of this loss.

Just wanted to say how awesome this was and how much it took for everyone to put this together and for it to turn out like it did was outstanding! This is awesome for our sport and for the growth of girls wrestling! I know our two Carmel girls that wrestled had a blast and is something they wont forget! Thanks again for organizing this and the support for the growth of the sport!

Michael larocca center grove I believe is at 26 but behind McConnell center grove has crazy depth down low Anthony Walker was injured sam Allen is at franklin community but they are so good up top it is tough to make the line up.

Yes both have two years left as this year will NOT count against eligibility.

WOW, Not like they were going to the Quick Stop gas station to mingle. They were going to an event where most of the people they would come into close contact with have been strictly watching who they have been around for the last few weeks because of the prestigious event that they were about to be a part of. Sorry Columbus East, your Athletic Director is drinking the Kool-Aid way too much.

Another related tidbit, this one concerning Brayton Lee... 149/157 Minnesota -Brayton Lee and Michael Blockhus There were some suggestions that with Blockhus coming over as a transfer from UNI, Brayton could move up. We have confirmed that is in fact the plan. Lee was 25-6 and the 7 seed at the dance. Blockhus was 25-10 and a qualifier at 141 last year.

Two things: 1. wild to see New Castle as a 2A school. 2.Idiotic that Columbus School Corp let’s their team travel to Hamilton County yesterday, but not Johnson County 3 days later. Bureaucrats suck.

You guys are doing the best you can do in light of the constantly changing situation. Your hard work and quick troubleshooting are appreciated.

Just want to personally thank all the referees from the Calumet Association that came out to Crown Point High School last week for our wrestle-offs. Hope you guys stay safe and have a great season! Branden Lorek

It saddens me to report that Mac Taylor has passed away. He was a member of the 1992-1996 New Castle wrestling team with a record of 227-12 in high school taking two 3rd place finishes at 103 and a 2nd at 103 and a 4th at 112. Since 2015 he has coached at Connersville High School with a record of 72-54 with one state qualifier, several semi-state qualifiers and state placers at ISWA Freshman-Sophomore state and a 6th place and 7th place finisher at IHSGW Girls State Championship. He leaves behind a wife Ashlee, Sons Trey, Bobby and Takota. Daughters Austine and Aubrey.
