You certainly have an important but thankless job my friend. I can tell you South Adams has not even wrestled in competition but will open the season Friday at the ACAC Duals.

Coach, will you join us on air Saturday at the duals?

  2. Every day this week I have told myself I am going to update the rankings. And each day I spend HOURS of my free time entering results for your team and I never get to the rankings because I don't have all the information.

If you want a seed at Team State, you should not be depending on me to e-mail your AD or local sports editor for results, or scouring your athletics websites for sketchy results.

    PLEASE post your results.

  3. Coaches,

We are barreling towards the day seeds need to be made for Team State. To aide the committee in getting those as accurate as possible, I need you to help your own programs.

I have two tasks for all 40 of you.

1: Please update your schedule on IndianaMat and keep it updated. If you don't know how to do this, e-mail me your schedule and I will do it for you or ask Joe for help. I need this to be up to date. When you wrestle, post your results to IndianaMat. Not just scores, but individual results.

2: E-mail me a list of wrestlers on your team. If you have a large roster, you are welcome to include just those likely to wrestle varsity, but you can just drop me the file you use for weigh-ins or programs. Please attach those files in an e-mail to me at decbell1@gmail.com.

If your results aren't posted to IndianaMat, we won't have the full picture of who your team is and where they belong.

  4. Maybe I am getting old and grumpy, but the Al Smith is Mishawaka's tournament. I get that people want them to do everything they can to make it happen, but at the same time, the tournament is a massive undertaking. It consumes a week of Dean and Steve and Adam and everyone else's life in the middle of the holidays. It has a plan and a schedule and years and years of rhythm and planning.

The tournament is not just something you pick up and move out of town. Alter it and it loses its identity. Just my thought.

  5. Rex Brewer and I will once again be hosting Indiana High School Wrestling Weekly live on WZBD, 92.7 FM every Monday night at 7 p.m., beginning Nov. 2nd, the first day of the season.

The show will feature coaches and former wrestlers from all the schools in Adams, Wells and Jay counties and we will take a look at results, upcoming matchups, and all things high school wrestling in Indiana.

The show is recorded live at the Double Eagle Clubhouse Grille at Cross Creek in Decatur and is supported by many sponsors, including Haggard, Sefton, Hirschy and Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur. If you are in the greater Decatur area, we would love to see you. The Double Eagle has great meal specials for just $6.99 and it's always fun to talk wrestling before, during, and after the show.

You can hear WZBD in Adams County and all of the surrounding counties, or you can listen anywhere in the world using radio apps like TuneIn Radio (free app).

The show will also be put on podcast and shared the following day.

Our show will also be the place to hear the pairings for Team State in December and we will also be hosting a Pre-State Finals Show in the balcony at Bankers Life again this season.

Make sure to come watch or tune in!

  6. If you aren't in love yet with this site's schedule feature, you should be, but either way, now would be a good time for coaches and fans to take a peek at their schedule and help us out with its accuracy.

For Bellmont, I had to switch the location of a lot of our duals because they alternate. It took me maybe 3-5 minutes to make that change.

Feel free to PM me or e-mail me and I can put your changes in for your team.

The more correct information we have out there for our kids, the better our sport is.

  7. Join us Friday afternoon as the excitement builds in another joint broadcast with IndianaMat and the state’s leader in wrestling coverage on the radio, WZBD.

Rex Brewer, Mike Reiser, and I will be high above the lobby of Bankers Life Fieldhouse as the crowd gathers in anticipation of the doors opening to the public at 4:30, discussing Friday night matchups and everything involved with this year’s State Finals.

We will be on air as soon as the kind folks at BLH let us in the building and we can get set up (approximately 3:30) and will go all way until roughly 5:00.

Guests throughout the afternoon will include:

Kevin Whitehead-the voice of the State Finals

    Legnedary coach Mike Goebel

    Official Jim Troyer

    Garrett head coach Nick Kraus

    and several other guest appearances.

You can listen to the show live on WZBD 92.7 FM in the Decatur area or online using the TuneIn radio app (free of charge).
You can also watch a live feed of the crowd growing as you listen to the show on Facebook Live or on Periscope via IndianaMat’s accounts.

    Don’t miss!!
