scoob134
In your opinion, what are the best and/or biggest tournaments in this state? Why?
Caleb Spires
I gotta nominate Al Smith. Has so many tough wrestlers and tough schools that go to it. One of the state runner-ups placed 4th at the Al Smith if that says anything.
Spartan103
The Mooresville Holiday Classic. 3 State Champions, 8 Placers, and 5 Qualifiers participated last year
KyleM
Al Smith the toughest hands down. Mooresville is a good one as well, we wrestled there my senior season!
WC182Dad
Personally like Capital City its always a great kickoff tour. with State champs and placers every year.
BClark
Al Smith...and it's not even close.
Coach Brown
I would say the Al Smith is a great tourney. Early region matchups against some of Marion County's finest. I concurr that the Mooresville is a good on as well. Last year was our team, (Howe's) first year. The caliber of wrestling was great with Castle, Yorktown, Mooresville, to name just a few. Not to mention the experience that some of my kids grew from; and to have a freshman place at 135. Can't wait until Dec. 27-28th.

indyshred
Evansville Mater Dei Classic is a great tournament. Great atmosphere, great teams (Franklin, Avon, Mater Dei, Memorial) and Union County and Trinity from Kentucky. Don't kid yourselves these Ky. boys can wrestle! maligned
For duals, it's the Traicoff. The North Montgomery holiday tourney is not too far behind.
WC182Dad
North Mont is a great one as well, all are good teams.
julio
We would have to break this down into 2 sub sets, Team and Individual tournaments. Team wise I would say the Traicoff at Calumet High School and Individual I would have to say the Al Smith in Mishawaka.

rdrodd1
Zionsville Eagle Invite is a pretty good tourney. 12-10-11 Brownsburg Carmel Center Grove Evansville Reitz Mooresville Western Boone Zionsville of course....... Chickenwingz
On the individual side, besides any of the post-season tournaments. Al-Smith is hands down thee toughest tournament during the regular season.
indyt
All great tournaments but I have to admit I am biased towards the Marion County tournament. As Hall of Famer, Dave Walpole used to say when he coached with us at Perry, if you find yourself at the Top of the Podium at the County meet there is a good chance of you being on the podium at the State meet. So true for many years. I love it when I hear the county is down and then two Marion County teams wrestle in the state championship match.
