Just spoke with a friend of mine who informed me that the IHSAA Basketball State Championship is postponed until next weekend because of the NCAA having games on Friday and Sunday in Indianapolis. Why did they make us go to Evansville this year? We could have waited a week while the NBA All Star Game was over to have our State Championship in Indianapolis.

You can see it in the schools as well, parents coming in a cussing out teachers and principals right in front of the student. Parents are not trying to be parents anymore, in my opinion, but they rather be best friends with their kids. -

Open enrollment helps everybody in Indiana.

Noticed that out of the top 10 teams, 5 of them have over 2500 students, 2 have over 1000 students, and the other 3 have over 500 students.

There Is No Such Thing as Bad Wrestling In the Region

My wrestler placed 4th and he beat a Sectional Runner Up, how does that not make sense? Are you saying a Sectional champion will take 4th at Regionals?

Should be the person beaten by the 4th place finisher.

Oh my God, I have been saying this for years about going to a 3 week tournament.

Let's just go back to the old vertical pairing system, where you are not eliminated until you lose 2 matches and sometimes 3.

Remember the IHSAA only worries about the best, not the 3rd or 4th best.

You can have class wrestling and still have a bad draw in the ticket round. Then what would be the excuse?

The replacement should go where the last person drawn was placed on the bracket and the last person drawn should go to the 6th seed spot.

Most college coaches recruit based on what an athlete does in the summer and at National events. The high school season has some merit but it is for those that are either in state recruits or border line DI prospects. Just a little insight on this, as I am related to a DI head coach and this is what I have been told by other DI coaches. Colleges want to see what you can do against nationally opponents, because at the college level that is who you will be wrestling.

It seemed to me that nobody wanted to make decisions on how to run the tournament, kept passing it on to other people. Nobody could really tell me who was in charge of running the tournament. Heard things changed on almost every detail of the tournament from the seed meeting to the start of the Regionals. I mean the idea to bring in more girls to filled out the brackets at Semi State was not even finalized until after Regionals. I mean we don't do this for the boys, so if we change 1 part of the tournament why not others?

I brought this matter up at our seed meeting for Regionals. If the coaches association, women's or men's, is running this tournament then run it the way we want it ran. The IHSAA has not sanctioned it yet, so why let them tell us how to run the tournament.
