deprh is one thing, top dogs is another, the 2003 class had at least 9 ncaa all-Americans from 5 guys, and 3 World Team members . If the group you post meets 1/3 that I will eat my 🎩 hat

Unfortunately I feel like this idea would take away from what we have worked hard to build. Just not a fan of class wrestling... single class is part of our prestige nationally. We also don't have the depth other classed states do. I just find it hard to call yourself a true "State Champion" if there were 2 or 4 other kids at your weight that won it too...

I could see having a 3 tier level by enrollment (almost as levels like the NCAA).
Open division (D1), a D2, and D3. All large D1 schools must enter the D1 - open division. D2 and D3 have the option to either enter the open division or remain in their current divisions only. D1 will kind of be seen like crown of the classes as we see in college wrestling. It's kind of the like the old school NCAA's where D2 and D3 champs could enter D1s. OR hold a D2 & D3 state on the same weekend, then all the champions advance to the open D1s the next week where only 1 will be crowned?
Idk, there just needs to serve a purpose other than to make people feel better about themselves imo...

Matboss or just upload them onto a private google drive and invite your wrestlers. Very easy to share with other coaches if needed

Our depth as a state is only getting deeper. CP still had some impressive new era talent to deal with on their way to a new record

Evansville Mater Dei's 2003 team--considered by probably the majority of people to be the best ever in the state of Indiana--scored 161 points in the state finals if the same scoring as now were used then to determine the state champion team.  The team champion was determined by duals then and a team score wasn't calculated in the same way. The "record" of 112 that people keep quoting is only a ho-hum total compared to ones we've seen over the years if all matches for all 4 rounds are totaled.

Word on the streets of Indy is that "the powers that be" have concluded that schools will try to take advantage of the lanyard system and load the floor with unnecessary coaches.

Also, it is apparently a rampant issue that these sneaky coaches whose athletes lose Friday night will use that lanyard from Friday to get on the floor Saturday to hang around and that is a MASSIVE PROBLEM.  So big of a problem that it is much more important to keep those scum bags off the floor rather than be sure assistant coaches have the chance to get to coach their kids.

EASY FIX:       1.   2 Coaching Lanyards for schools qualifying 1 kid.
                           2.   4 Coaching Lanyards for schools qualifying 2+ kids.
                           3.   Coaching Lanyards are different for Friday and Saturday.

How could they argue with that.  Schools can trade lanyards around throughout the coaching staff to get the desired coaches in the corners for their athletes, and athletes who are warming up are supervised (unless the instance occurs that a school has 2 athletes wrestling at once).  A school will never have more than 4 coaches on the floor at once.

Look's like we should petition for next year to be a normal Friday night again. This has been a mess. The Friday morning has been really inconvenient for some parents & fans to even make it there. Those kids deserve a hype and packed crowd too. Just my thoughts.

It's almost as if the IHSAA didn't bother to think this one through.  Because they didn't and are receiving backlash, they now blame it on the coaches.  Since we will all be in the same spot on Friday, that would be a good time for some accountability.  Maybe our IHSWCA Leaders need to ask some hard questions of the IHSAA with members present.

There isn't a SINGLE wrestler in the state that wants to compete at a different time than their teammates.  We have three wrestlers in session 1, one wrestler in session 2.  You're telling me that our wrestler in session 2 wants to do a parade of champions and compete in a session by himself???  Crazy.

We ran 4 semi states with the same amount of kids in lesser venues.
