maligned
Think you can put together a solid state finals team? Let's find out. Here's the game: 1. You must not spend more than a $38 salary cap on a team that is trying to score more points than everyone else. 2. You must choose one individual state finalist from each weight class. 3. Points are scored as follows (based on average Coaches' Trophy points scored for each of these positions): Champion: 24 Runner-up: 20 Third: 14 Fourth: 12 Fifth: 9 Sixth: 7 Seventh: 5 Eighth: 3 4. Salaries are as follows: These #1-ranked wrestlers are worth $5.50: 103-Boston, 140-Tsirtsis, 145-Roach, 189-Sliga These #1-ranked wrestlers are worth $5.00: 112-Phillips, 119-Ayersman, 125-McKinley, 152-D. Welch, 171-Stein, 215-Reese These #1-ranked wrestlers are worth $4.50: 130-Harvey, 135-Jackson, 160-C. Welch, 285-Meyer All other number 1 seeds are worth $4.00. All other number 2 seeds are worth $3.00. All number 3 seeds are worth $2.00. All number 4 seeds are worth $1.00. Tip for finding seeds--on the brackets, each quarter of the bracket reads like this: 1 4 3 2 Brackets: http://www.indianamat.com/2011-ihsaa-state-finals-brackets/2011/02/ Game deadline: 6pm on Friday. Now buy your team! Don't forget--$38 only!
gstemv81
I predict that a combination of #1 seeds and #3 seeds will get the most bang for the virtual buck. The price disparity between #2 and #3 is too great and doesn't account for luck of the draw at semi-state. Many #2s vs. #3s are tossups. Looking at the point scoring system, it is skewed to the top. First=24 pts while Eighth=3 pts. It would take eight 8th placers to equal one champ. This makes the Coaches Trophy almost a lottery. A dual meet team with a core of eight 8th placers would be extremely decent.

maligned
Points are as listed above--the average points scored for each placement at the state finals (including advancement and bonus and everything). For calculation purposes, we'll just award a flat score for each placement as is listed above.
