Will there be rankings for the Fort Wayne semi-states soon? Also, what predictions for the semi-state this year. Any underdogs or definite champs?

There's no doubt they have more depth than us and far outdo us by almost any metric.  But we are very, very strong by our standards this year at the top of almost every weight.  According to national rankings, we would be favored in 6 of 14 matches in a straight-up, best-guy-available dual against Illinois right now.  We also had a national Top 20 guy not place and a Top 5 national guy place 7th (both of those guys were ranked based on many out-of-state victories over top competition in the offseason).  Our depth isn't Illinois' depth and we would be fooling ourselves to think so, but we're a strong state compared to the rest of the country.

Non senior state champions vs their state champions. This year, I think that we would win 7 weight classes. Hudkins, Red, J. Lee, Hughes, Rypel, Parris, Streck. Most by bonus points. Some of our lineup not being seniors just speaks at our good some of these kids are.

I found this hilarious...they actually took credit away from Red for making it to the finals and beating the guy who beat Yanni....

Yes, Red may have taken a loss during his career if he was allowed to wrestle in all the top tournaments in the country during high school season...but fact remains that he won Fargo and won Pound for Pound and is the current #1 ranked wrestler...

Ty Mills is huge part of Treys wrestling carrer too! Ty was the big brother and did the big brother whipping on Trey through the years! Trey spent many countless hours with the Mills Family, Darren took Trey to tons of Tournaments when I wasnt able to go. And Ty and Trey spent the whole summer together in 2014 with Ohio All-Star Team. We consider the Mills family part of our family!

They will never admit that someone that is not from IL would be able to waltz in and dominate. Indiana will never get respect from a great wrestling state like Illinois until we prove to them that we are good enough. If you read those posts they tried to call out everything they could to disprove Red as the top guy: weak Schedule, not wrestling Cadet world champ Yanni D ( Who I think Red beats), ect. Respect from them would need to come from a total victory over their studs i.e. Junior/Cadet duals or Fargo.

You guys might have misunderstood me. I never said "when will they be scared or fearful of us?" I just meant, when will they see that our top guys would still dominate in Illinois? Such as B. Lee, Nick and Joe Lee, Chad, Streck? Maybe more. If it wasn't senior only vs senior, we would beat them no doubt with this years state lineup. Just my opinion, insight?

I suspect if Indiana ever consistently beats them in the Indiana/Illinois invite then respect will be earned.

For those that care, Deondre is back home training hard for Juniors and University Nationals.  He has a dozen or so offers from several interested schools and right now we are just focused on getting him better as he should be out of here before the summer.

He was ranked first and he did have an incident a couple weeks before Regionals with an opposing wrestler, but he was awarded the win.  He sat the next match due to internal discipline for that incident, and wrestled the last match of the season. However, unknowingly to NIC, the opposing school went back several days later and changed the results from him winning 10-3 to him being DQd - ultimately resulting in him and his coach missing the Regionals getting EXTRA screwed. They were basically looking to get him out of the mix because he was the clear cut favorite, he was an easy target and the opportunity presented itself. NIC protested to the national association, lost, and that was that.

His freshman year he went in ranked 8th, smashed through his competition, beating almost a dozen tough D1 opponents along the way and worked his way up to ranking 3rd in NJCAA.  However, he suffered a knee injury at Vegas early in the year during his win against Jade Rauser, continued to wrestle throughout the season on it, but eventually had to have surgery which ended his season before Regionals his freshman year. He was ranked 3rd when he ended that season. I'd like to believe he would have won that title as well but that's how it goes.

Clearly I'm biased but his spirits are up, he's dialed in, and has even more to prove to himself and the world both on and off the mat. It was disappointing on several fronts but there is a lesson to be learned: just win the match and walk away, regardless of how much crap the fans, opponents or whoever throws at you.  Strategies and tactics become very important when wrestling a dominant wrestler, and if there is a weakness, like a relatively short fuse, then it will be exploited. He's dealt with it plenty as many know, and I 've seen him pass 98% of the time.  But that 1-2% will cost you so you have to keep things in perspective.  Although it was the catalyst to the extra screwing he got, he understands it starts with him - unfortunately at the price of a potential national championship.

One of the things that makes him so tough on the mat is his attitude of fighting for everything, and that is also one of his biggest weaknesses. Lol.  He is a very passionate wrestler, wrestling with his heart more than his head sometimes. It isn't his fault it's in him really but that is the beauty of our sport: it teaches us so much about life, adversity, success and failure, how to keep striving to get better, etc. Wishing him and expecting the best.

Why does it matter if you guys think the tournament would be watered down? You aren't wrestling, the kids are! If it increases their chance of wrestling in college, let's do it. You're trying to limit a kids chance of wrestling in college because of your stubborn old fashion preference. You'd rather watch a one class system than let kids get the chance to better themselves and their life in college. That's extremely selfish of you. The three class system is a need, data points to it regardless of your opinion
