Which team this year has the most going to state.

Yorktown has 8

And what is the record for the most from one team?

I may be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure that EMD got 11 through one year in the early part of this decade.  I thought that was a record at the time.

BB145: Am I missing 1? I know they had a great day but wasn't it 4 champs and a 4th? 5? I wish it was 6 because I wanted to see Wikel get through...I've enjoyed watching him wrestle.

Champs - Welch, Welch, Rosebrock, Daughtery

2nd - Brown

4th - Welch

Evansville Mater Dei also got 11 through to State in 1996, with 10 in the Semi-State championship matches.  All 14 had qualified from Castle Regional and all 14 won first round at Seymour Semi-State.  MD had 5 champs, 5 runnersup, and 1 3rd, with the  other 3 losing in the ticket round.

I have noticed that EMD only has two qualifiers this year.  When was the last time they did not have a qualifier and when was the last time they did not have a placer?

In 1982, EMD only had 1 person go and he did not place.  I think it was sometimes in the 70's since they did not have a qualifier.

Mater Dei had 11 in 2003 with 4 individual champs.

2003 was a crazy finals year.  It saw a series of

3 Griffith State Champs in a row

Followed by first state champ from the tiny school of Turkey Run

Then 4 EMD state champs in a row.

That was also the year Craig Macke met Escobedo and Aaron Scott met Tsirtsis is the Semi-finals...or EMD would most likely have had 3 runner ups & 1 3rd placer, rather than the other way around. That was a GREAT year at State...lots of great action!!!

MatChick: Aaron helped me one year at Gibson Southern with MSchool some. What a great young man. I called him once this past summer about something and left him a message claiming to be Alex Tsirtsis...I can't tell you his response on here when he called me back though...LOL!

Aaron is a great guy...and since he married a Haubstadt girl... he'll probably end up helping more in the future at GS!! I'd love to know what he said :)
