  5. Well this morning I read an interview with Joe Keifer, who we all know is fighting Leukemia. One thing that many people don't know is that often time?s people with Leukemia require a bone marrow transplant to help them win the battle. The problem with getting a bone marrow transplant is that it is often difficult to find a match, many times patients family members are not matches. What I want to share with everyone today is a website called marrow.org. This website gives information about becoming a bone marrow donor and will send you a packet so you can send samples to be tested. Becoming a bone marrow donor and possibly being able to save someone?s life is as simple as swapping your mouth with a Q-Tip. If you are found to be a match you still have the choice to help or not and there is no cost to you, this organization does fund raising to pay for travel and the surgery. Yes, being a donor requires a surgery, and I have been told that it can be painful, but I know I am willing to suffer some pain to save a person?s life. I know for a fact that this can save a person?s life. Some of you may remember Erik Johnson; he wrestled for Yorktown High School and wrestled Angel in the state finals in 2004. He has a little brother that is now 6 years old I believe. Well at the age of 2 he was diagnosed with Leukemia, actually the same type that Joe has. After a 3 year battle Dakota finally found a match to get a bone marrow transplant and is now in remission and actually a pretty healthy and wild kid. I have chosen to become part of this organization and I myself am a donor. My challenge to all of you is to also become a donor. There are many people that need these transplants and can never find a match. You never know one day someone from this site may be able to help Joe.
  6. Great Edition, When Joe writes that book, I will be buying myself one. Think it will be a great read.
  7. I would say if this is all true there may be a few people that owe Mr. Phillips an apology for the way the spoke about him earlier in the week. Just my opinion though.
  8. I went to 3 J Rob camps while in high school, the 10 day once and the 28 day twice. I came back a better wrestler and a better person every time. These camps not only teach you wrestling but teach you goal setting, hard work, and discipline. When I went we had a book that had to be completed. There are a lot of wrestlers at these camps but when I went we had something like 30 coachs also. There is also technique practice every day. I think before you choose a camp you need to decide if you are trying to learn new technique or you are just trying to get hardcore workout time. At J Rob you will run, lift, and live wrestle and learn technique everyday. These camps will make you stronger both physically and mentally. One thing to remember, these camps are kind of based on Army Ranger school, you have to be mentally tough to make it or you have to become mentally tough if you want your shirt at the end. Yes a shirt does not sound like much but it means a lot when you put it on.
  9. Never been to the New Castle Semi State, didn't realize they only wrestled on 3 mat. I've only been to the Fort Wayne SS and they wrestle 4 mats. Really not sure how they rotate the officials there. Come to think of it there is probably 12 officials there.
  10. I think part of the issue with that model is that Indiana does not have enough officials that have the experience to be able to have 12 officials at each semi-state. Also I believe there are rules that officials can only participate in a state finals every couple years or something. May be difficult to keep quality officials at state every year when you take 12 out of the pool each year. Just my thoughts, I may be wrong.
  11. Is it just me or are all three feeds not working. I just started watching so not sure if this has already been addressed.
  12. Thank you for sharing this Bluebolt, actually brought back many memories for me. Many of you may remember a man named Jim Christiana he owned Mid-American Wrestling Supply. This man was like a father to me. The Indiana wrestling community and I lost him in 2004. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about him and all of the many lessons that he taught me. If it were not for wrestling I would have never meet him and i can honestly tell you that I would not be where I am today if it weren't for him and wrestling. He wrestled only one match in his career but had a passion for wrestling that not many can challenge. He took me to my first wrestling state meet when I was 13 years old and I have not missed one since, next week I will continue that tradition and will be thinking of him the entire weekend. To all of the many people that have helped me and many other wrestlers become the men that we are today, Thank You. You will always be remembered.
  13. AJ that seems to be a little bit of a personal attack.
