Fort Wayne Semi-State greatest wrestler ever

25 posts in this topic

Who is the greatest wrestler to ever come out of the Fort Wayne semi-state.  I was debating this with a friend of mine the other day and thought it would make an interesting topic.  We figured that either Anton Talamantes or Tim Myers would  be one and two.  We very well could be missing someone though.  Anyone else in the argument?

Anton Talamantes=Junior College National Champion and 3 year starter at Ohio State (Would've had a good shot at placing top 5 his senior year, but withdrew from the tournament due to a knee injury...something to do with the AD at the time I believe(not sure on this) However, he did defeat the Iowa kid who was a National Runner-Up the following year.

If we're going by high school resume, I'd have to think Anton is #1.   Freshman year = Regional Qualifier Sophomore Year = 2nd in State  Junior Year=State Champ  Senior Year = State Champ

It looks like David Palmer from Delta went 2, 1, 1, 1.  Does anyone know the story on his freshman year?  Was he like a 1 career loss guy or anything like that?

Plymouth was in the Ft Wayne semi-state in the early 80's.  David Palmer has my vote. 1 loss in state finals and {if I remember right} bumped up and got a 2nd loss.
