IMrule reacted to Y2CJ41 in weight changes for 20-21 season?
Additional Indiana information.
If we combine 106 and 113 we would have 157 athletes without a varsity position at sectional. That would be to "save" 154 forfeits.
If we combine 182 and 195 we would have 203 athletes without a varsity position at sectional. That would "save" 107 forfeits.
Ohio Information
If we combine 106 and 113 we would have 274 athletes without a varsity position at sectional. That would be to "save" 311 forfeits.
If we combine 182 and 195 we would have 311 athletes without a varsity position at sectional. That would "save" 270 forfeits.
Again, in both cases there seems to be no real reason to cut ANY weights for the sake of forfeits.

IMrule reacted to Kpbergman in Thanks/Keep up the good work
As a parent who has lurked here for the 4 years of my son's high school career, I just wanted to to say thanks to all the rankers and members of the community here. This has been a valuable resource that I have shared with others throughout the years and has helped in getting to know the competition and sometimes what to expect during the season. I wish other sports had the same kind of community that I have seen with Indiana high school wrestling.

IMrule reacted to #TheBrand in Folkstyle State hurt by Corona?
Gotta love those peeps with mult accounts on a website lol. Anyways. I was looking at how the wrestling community handled the last global pandemic, you know the one in 2009 for H1N1.? I can’t find any findings. Maybe you can enlighten us on how it was handled back then. And I’m in a plane for the 10th time in 12 weeks as we speak. Maybe I should just play the lottery when I get back home. Anyways, you have been enough entertainment during my flight. Enjoy the rest of your day.

IMrule reacted to #TheBrand in Folkstyle State hurt by Corona?
You mean we may have to actually hold our state tournament in an actual arena venue and not in school cafeterias??? Maybe some good will come from all of this non-sense! Eville Ford Center, FW Coliseum, state fairgrounds? All venues would be an upgrade. And don’t tell me they are not big enough. Make it something special for state. Hell Fri-Sun. All finals and placement matches on the final day.

Technically it was December 2018, but that's splitting hairs... Here is the video for those that haven't seen the match. Shot from the stands so not the best video.

IMrule reacted to base in Off-Season Gorilla Radio
Get together 2 or 3 of the guys from some of those great teams of the past like Mater Dei 2003 and let them talk about what their 4 years was like, where they went after HS and what they are up to now
Maybe also track down some state winners from way back when 60s? 70s? and have them talk about what the wrestling world was like back in the old days

That was a great match. Parkinson was the unfortunate victim of circumstances. That Friday night matchup could have easily been the championship match. Thanks for suggesting that video.

From someone who is part of the PAC in Southern IN I thought a big highlight was seeing more PAC athletes representing at State this year. South Spencer, Southridge, Tell City, North Posey, HH and new PAC school Boonville all had some kids travel to Indy to put in some work in on the mats. It’s great to see some new coaches come in and fix programs that previous ones completely killed. Look at HH for example- Coach Zollman’s second year as HH head coach and already has had 3 kids qualify at state, one getting 5th yesterday, I could be wrong but don’t think they’ve had anyone since around 2012. I watched the previous coach ruin that program, exciting to see it’s coming back and impressive how quickly. Great testament to his coaching and abilities. A guy you don’t want to coach against but happy he is helping represent your conference. Extremely smart pickup for them. NP, SS both with place winners. What a way to go out your final year with Stewart- congratulations & thank you Coach Packer. NP winning 1A Team State this year as well with Southridge and Tell City representing 2nd & 3rd as well. Exciting times for the PAC, happy to welcome Boonville & their stud to the conference as well! PAC wrestling on the ups! Proud to be a part of the PAC & continue to watch it grow!

So my brother was a pretty good wrestler. 4x State placer, 3x state champ. I watched him wrestle at state his freshman year place 7th. Got to see every match of his that year. The next year I decided to sign a dotted line and joined the military. During his first state championship he beat a pretty good kid, named Eric Galka, I was in basic training and missed the match. During his second championship run, he beat another good kid, Anthony Quiroz, I was in Iraq at the time and didn’t see it in person. So during his senior year I made it a point to go see every match of his, near or far. He was going for his third state title, and 4x time state placer. Become the first Portage wrestler to ever do both feats. Still in the military I had something going on Saturday morning at state, got to see his Friday night match, but missed the quarters match. Sean didn’t have one point scored against him, he didn’t let anyone up, no escapes, nothing. Pure domination. Coach Wilkins who was the head coach at the time got me a coaches pass so I could go down with Sean, watch him warm up before the finals match, and be right there when he came off the match. He told me that one was for me. I finally got to see my brother win a state while I was standing by the warm up mat they have set up. By far one of my favorite memories I’ve ever had at state.
