gsmith58 got a reaction from Sig40 in Top Middle School Wrestlers 2018/2019
Indeed!! I am certain that Kyle could be competitive at 106 right now. Given 4 more years who knows, might be the next Seltzer or that other freshman at 126...I can't remember his name. Just saying!

I believe 126 will be one of the most exciting Championships having a potential 3 timer with the potential 2 timer or the Potential 4x Timer .

I certainly would not count him out, but a lock...in that class?

Amen!
This strikes a nerve with me. My freshman son is 85lbs soaking wet, but he's a pretty decent wrestler. He can compete with bigger kids, but giving up +20lbs is a stretch (particularly to the Cottey's, Dalton's, & Nelson's, etc).
Competing on a level playing field was the whole reason that I encouraged him to wrestle. He wrestles year-round in the academies, and I can assure you there are a number of very good kids at or around his weight. Many parents just hold their kids back; who can blame them. We can't, in good conscience, do that, so one way or the other he's going to take his lumps. It is what it is. I understand the rationale, but given how hard he (and the other little guys) have worked; the idea of 110 as the lowest class gets me a bit frosty.

Love seeing Billerman & Syra make the list. Here are a few other little guys for your watch list: Preston Haines, Dillion Graham, Charlie LaRocca, & Tony Wood.
Dickey is certainly deserving, but I 'believe' he is now a Freshman.

gsmith58 got a reaction from Coach Masters in Depth of 126
I recall those guys, but I didn't recall the bracket. That's a good one, particularly since none of the champs made the finals.
What struck me today was the ranking of Mills & Mejia at 7 & 8. That's not a comment on the ranking, but rather how loaded and deep that class is.

I have no issue paying for content I like 200 a year is cheap compared to any cable package. That being said, its BS i pay that money and get ads before everything. web content makes their money of ads, if I give them a direct payment to support thier content it should be an ad free experience.../rant

gsmith58 got a reaction from TRUDiabetic in Alec White...
I'm a little surprised I haven't seen a whole lot of props for Alec White. He battled his way through a nagging cut at Semi-State, and then ran through a pretty outstanding gauntlet at State. Quite a two-week effort. I know state is littered with storylines and tough runs, but he put a good one together (and yes, yes, the big boy match was tremendous entertaining too).
He trains in #TheCounty, so come on. Just saying...

After getting throttled to the mat he gets up with a shake of the head and smile. Loved it. I became a fan right there.

Agree.
MOW.
And NOBODY called it (his championship).
Congrats to the now former New Pal wrestler who was always in someone else's shadow his whole H.S. career........until now.

No doubt a very exciting and determined run by a capable senior. The scramble to a tilt he hit on rooks was amazing. Taking nothing away from the rest of the champions (and the field as well), I believe his run to a state title was the most amazing and unexpected (at least by me and most people from the Evansville area). Congratulations!!!

If there was an OW, I think he would get my vote. I know that some of those other big names were more dominant, but...
First Round he beats a returning two-time state Champ.#3 Ranked coming into tournament.
Quarters beat a kid named Lee from Mater Dei. I know maybe not all the accolades of his older siblings but a tough out no less.
Semis beats the #2 ranked undefeated kid, whom some probably felt was favored to win it all after knocking off the 1 previously.
Then pins the #1 Ranked kid under the lights to cap off an amazing run.
That was pretty impressive, and that pains me to say seeing that at that particular weight, I did have a horse in that race!

I've been wondering the same thing since Alec won his title last night.......there were a lot of naysayers on the board after his SS performance. 4-time SQ 3-time placer and a state title now on the resume. Hardly anyone was giving him a shot on Friday night of advancing. It definitely was one of the best "runs" this weekend. Pretty good run to the top thru Cummings, Lee, Rooks, and Mulkey. Congrats again Alec White on a terrific senior season and HS wrestling career.
