NCAA Pick’ems

Just saw where McGonagal is out now.

* Just wanted to add that this will be huge for Jesse to now move to the 13 seed and get away from Vito. He will most likely wrestle McGee Thursday night as long as they both take care of business.

For our pickems game, it doesn't matter whether Jesse is 13 or 14 in terms of affecting entry rules or wildcard scoring opportunity. All pickems entries affected by McGonagal's departure are good now.

My Official Picks

125 - Lee - 1

133 - Nagao - 8

141 - Barlett - 6

149 - Blockhus - 11

157 - Coleman - 12

165 - Hamiti - 3

174 - Starocci - 1

184 - Brooks - 3 *Wildcard

197 - Sloan - 7

285 - Davison - 9

Hey, with updated brackets, Blockhaus is up to a #10, but by rule you can stay locked in with him as one of your 11+ seeds if you choose. If you make any changes before the tournament that involve 149 or any other weight whose seeds have changed, you'll need to consider everyone at all weights by their updated seeds.

Understood, thanks.

Dam#, This did not work well for Blockhus or my picks, IMO.

Blockhus goes from potential 2nd rd & quarter final matchups of Brock Mauller & Kyle Parco to Yahya Thomas & Sammy Sasso.

The latter are substantially tougher IMO. The former is one of the big reasons why I took him.

For the heck of it, trying to pick a complete lineup that nobody else has chosen.  Could be disastrous 🙂 but hey will be fun for me and will give me interest in some other matches

125 #6 Stevo Poulin - Northern Colorado (remember the old YouTube videos of him stomping around as a little kid with the mohawk??)

133 #1 RBY - Penn State (surprised nobody has chosen him)

141 #1 Real Woods - Iowa

149 #4 Caleb Henson - Virginia Tech

157 #6 Daniel Cardenas - Stanford

165  #13 Alex Facundo - Penn State  ## WILDCARD

174 #18 Tate Picklo - Oklahoma

184 #10 Travis Wittlake - Oklahoma State

197 #3 Rocky Elam - Missouri

285 #10 Zach Elam - Missouri (wanted Mason here, but couldn't make it work with my other weights - can't believe nobody has picked him yet!)

Good luck and go Purdue/IU and Indiana boys!

It is a little surprising noone took either, but both of those weights are loaded at the top.

Hey! Looking good..but you've got 3 weights in the 5-7 range and only one at 11+. Please change before noon 😀

Since you had an error where you accidentally took 3 guys at seeds 5-7 and only one at 11+, I used a random number generator to randomly select 197 as your error weight. Then I ran the randomizer again to choose between 11, 12, 13 seeds. You get Jaxon Smith of Maryland at 197 instead of Michael Beard so you can still join us without major frustration. 😉

Just realized you copied and pasted Argyll's entry (definitely not just same guys..all same style and caps).

I'm guessing that was an accident? I'm guessing you just wanted the format but forgot to enter your own guys..woops, sorry about that.

A lot of chalk in the first round: 8 pick'ems entries go undefeated, bigballerb, Sig40, & Argyll lose 1, rookie78 loses 2, and Base's "heck of it" entry loses 3

That wide-open 197 weight we're all so interested in went literally 17-0 for the higher seeds. Ha.

Rundown of people's lineups:

125: Lee x 11, Poulin, McKee

133: Mendez x 5, Byrd x 3, Latona x 2, Nagao, RBY, Vito

141: Bartlett x 6, Jack x 2, Hardy, McNeil, Young, Woods, Hart

149: Yianni x 6, Gomez x 4, Blockhus, Murin, Henson

157: Andonian x 5, Coleman x 2, Saldate x 2, Humphreys x 2, Cardenas, Robb

165: Amine x 4, Monday x 3, Hamiti x 2, Griffith, Kharchla, Olejnik, Facundo

174: Starocci x 7, Lewis x 2, Smith x 2, Picklo, Jordan

184: Brooks x 10, Finesilver, Wittlake, Assad

197: Allred x 5, Dean x 4, Sloan, Beard, Elam, Smith

285: Kerkvliet x 7, Davison x 4, Hillger, Elam

Pretty good variety. You'd need to take at least one guy who's been taken by 2 guys or less even if you're trying to copy everyone.

haha, that's a major downgrade, but i guess i have to eat that since i made a mistake. lowkey think Beard will win NCAAs, but at 197 you can run it 10 times and have 10 different champs.

If it's any consolation, I had a really hard time choosing that 5-7 range also because there's a lot of good value in there. Andonian and Smith are definitely guys we all looked at too, so those are the others you could have lost.
