NCAA Pick’ems

Recommended Posts

I got your back:

Rules:

Pick a team of 10, one guy from each weight class, according to these rules:

Two guys seeded 1 or 2

Two guys seeded 3 or 4

Two guys seeded 5, 6, or 7

Two guys seeded at least 8th

Two guys seeded at least 11th

Points for placement:

1: 25

2: 20

3: 16

4: 13

5: 11

6: 9

7: 7

8: 5

Wildcard Bonus:

Designate ONE GUY as your Wildcard. If he outperforms his seed, you pick up 5 bonus points. (We'll extend to the Blood Round for this. If you pick a guy who's seeded at least 13 and he reaches at least the final 12, the Blood Round, you pick up the Wildcard Bonus).

NOTE: If a bracket change affects picks you already posted, you may choose to either 1) stay locked in and earn points according to originally assigned seeds, or 2) make changes according to updated seeds. Please announce your intention if you make changes!

Post your team to this thread with final edits by 11:55am Eastern Time on Thursday, March 16 (not 10:55 as previously posted..morning sessions start an hour later this year in the central time zone).

WHEN YOU POST YOUR TEAM, PLEASE POST WEIGHT, NAME, & SEED

If a rule seems stupid, please alert me. We'll change it. 😀

Thanks maligned, the rules seem straight forward, that is unless bracket changes occur.

I'll add a rule that states that a bracket change affecting picks you already posted allows you to either 1) stay locked in and earn points according to originally assigned seeds, or 2) make changes according to updated seeds

Sounds great to me! Just make sure, multiple people could pick the same guy per weight correct?

Yes, everyone picks their own team however they want, as long as it's one guy per weight. I'm sure we'll get some duplicate "locks" and under-seeded guys.

By the way..we did something sort of similar a few years ago for Big 10s and there was a lot of variety in people's picks. I'm guessing we'll see nice variety here too.

Ah yes I remember that. Especially with a bigger bracket we should see some different lineups.

I just looked back..it was 5 years ago. We did Big 10s and NCAAs both as confidence picks where we made champ picks and assigned confidence levels from 10 to 1. Maybe @MD92 will show his face to make another go at his NCAA title.

Is it just 5 bonus points if seed exceeded..or 5 points per seed exceeded ie 10 seed finishes 5 you get 25 points?

It's a 1-time bonus of 5 total points if the one guy you designate as your wildcard surpasses his seed. You need to choose which guy it is in your entry still.

Just saw where McGonagal is out now.

* Just wanted to add that this will be huge for Jesse to now move to the 13 seed and get away from Vito. He will most likely wrestle McGee Thursday night as long as they both take care of business.
