Is "The Region" Losing Ground to the Rest of the State?

If he beats Dakota Thacker this weekend at Bellmont, then I would be more inclined to believe this could happen.

But I also think Mr. Kral and Mr. Johnson will have something to say about that.  Kobe is a helluva an athlete and is learning by leaps and bounds, he might be one year away, but it's gonna be a fun 195 weight class this year either way.

I hate to agree with panther vision, BUT...

He is right.  I got to see Kobe for the first time last weekend.  The kid has tremendous upside.  Very impressive.

I would agree with this . I remember watching Kobe his first match last year . He was very raw to say the least . The strides he made in 1 year are insane and says a lot about his work ethic . If he can make the same gains in another year . he will be very hard to beat next year .

I think Pendoski ending up in Indy metro stripped one heck of a resource from the Region. He is building a monster at Carmel as we speak.

Fringe Top 20 this year...definitely moving higher the next couple years.

I know Ed is one of the best but coaching at Carmel is alittle different dan Portage. Some of his best wraslers came from south haven section of portage. DA cost of real estate is little different. Some pretty mean tough hillbilly boys from south haven. It will be interestin to see hoe it works out.

Carmel has 800 freshmen boys alone. He can find a little Burr Avenue kid in there somewhere. Probably ten. Don't forget about Homeplace either - the Gary of Carmel.

Ed P will have a contender in less than 2 years.

Say all you want about the economic conditions of Carmel and its kids not being tough, but that school wins state championships (including BB and Football).  If Indiana had been in it's current format, Carmel would of won a state title in wrestling in 1997.  It is only a matter of time before Coach P's teams are going to be incredibly scary.

800?......seriously?.......if that is true i don't see any way possible that he won't have a dynasty in no time......numbers alone will produce a good team - add a great coach and.......wow......look at the post showing all the state championship teams......i'm sure these teams all had great coaches but with that many kids to draw from you will get some great athletes that just need the proper coaching to be champions.......

Just a side note to this topic the region has a couple placers and champs wrestling else where

120 Carlos Champagne Marian IL-Lowell

132 Jake Tucker Mt. Carmel IL-Lowell

145 Conner Guzior Mt. Carmel IL- Griffith

152 Jose Champange Marian IL- Lowell

182 Bobby Stevenson- Apple Valley MN- Merrillville

182 Gable Stevenson- Apple Valley MN- Merrillville(8)

the region lost some top talent to other states but its still pretty tough

tO BAD lowell could not keep um home - they would be purdy darn tuff for a few years

Yea Lowell would have some guys overlap

Gross/ tucker mavros/ champagne  also they are missing Bottis at 45 who was injured early in preseason. But year you would have to say there would be 2 more medalist at least if not a champ

I was wondering how Carmel could be so dominant in girls  swimming.

I found out that they recruit from all over the state from what they see

in AAU swimming.  Crown Point has a couple of girls that were approached

by Carmel and thankfully they didn't accept their offer.
