  1. It says they will be airing coverage for 5 straight hours on Saturday. That seems like a full days coverage. Looks like I'm not going out Saturday haha
  2. Saturday April 9th at 6pm CST, 7pm EST on NBCSN and the following day as well. Full schedule can be found on themat.com or teamusa.org Who's everyone got? Any upsets? 143lbs/65kgs should be really interesting. 8 wrestlers in the field with a combined 14 NCAA Division I titles. Wow.
  3. No Offense to Gelen but if you're going to talk about the best athlete you need to bring up Blake Maurer. Dude has more state titles then fingers to put em on.
  4. Sadly enough only ones still proud enough to wear a Chicago Bears hat.
  5. He's also on the front page of intermatwrestle.com currently. https://intermatwrestle.com/
  6. You're missing the point of the state finals with your comment. Instead of having two weeks of tournaments you have one crazy weekend where everything is on the line. Where a team with no individual state champs can still be in the hunt for a team title. Everyone has a bias though. You probably won the team title via dual and others via the individual tourney as a team. It's no biggie but this argument has no place two days before the championship. Maybe we'll pick it up next week. Good luck everyone. RDP
  7. I didn't want to leave them out as they had 7 semi-state finalists. They may get everyone into Saturday as well.
  8. With Penn, Warren Central and Brownsburg being 3 of the top team contenders in my mind, it's interesting to note that all 3 are represented in the first 3 weight classes. With that said it seems the team title could be determined in the early rounds of the lighter weights. They also all have a 195lber with this advantage leaning towards WC obviously.
  9. #17 Devin Schroder 126 #3 Griffin Parriot 152 #16 Christian Brunner 195 #6 Kobe Woods 220 #2 Shawn Streck 285 Looks like Purdue's Coach Ersland is doing a nice job of getting some top talent. Boiler Up!!!
  10. Kind of awesome that Reece Hump was followed by Alex Dolly on the same mat at the World Championships.
  11. True Second in high school is completely useless. That's how you want the state finals to end? Watching the 2nd and 3rd place match? Full wrestle backs im all in for just like in Illinois but never true second.
  12. Northwestern's Wrestling Home Page is looking really nice these days! They may be a force to be reckoned with in the future as a team. http://www.nusports.com/sports/m-wrestl/nw-m-wrestl-body.html
  13. I wanted to send my congrats to Andrew Howe on his stellar NCAA career. 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd is nothing to shake your head at. He has represented Indiana well and I look forward to watching his USA wrestling career in the future as it looks bright. He's one of the hardest working wrestlers the sport has ever seen and he's never settled. Thank you for everything you've given us and we wish you well in the future!
  14. And Of course Dardanes the #2 seed gets upset in the first round. Another reason we can be upset with Jason's #5 seed.
  15. Typically the conference tournament helps determine your NCAA seed but in this case it seems as if that was overlooked. Dardanes got the 2 seed and was big ten runner up. Creates a very tough road for Jason with the 4 seed being Kendrick Maple and the 1 seed on that side of the bracket as well. Just wanted to know the thinking behind that.
  16. You summed it up perfectly with your own words, " I don't know all the facts..." Yorktown is a storied program and to question their integrity is borderline comical. Coaches make decisions all the time to protect their wrestlers. This is just me speculating but Cael probably had a nagging injury and there was no point in aggravating it even more against the NATIONs #1 126lber. He ended up getting 6th by the way
  17. Superstitions can be easily formed when you win 9 team titles in a row. Good luck this weekend and moving forward the state is cheering for you.
  18. Track wrestling shows Haynes from Charlestown forfeited. Is this true?
  19. Sorry but it's never going to change because it would still be in imperfect system. In this weight class there is a clear cut Number 1 and 2 but in many other weight classes it's not that easy to determine. Take 106 for example. I think one loss Reitz is the #1 in this class but i'm pretty sure Cathedral coaches would love to argue that their undefeated Bailey should be seeded #1. So you would have to determine seeds, in a meeting with coaches from all over the state in an already short week where someone will always be unhappy. I guess we need to be greaful that Micic and Lee get to meet in the Semis rather then Friday night.
  20. Galka lost his senior year to Mcmurray for his third title. That was mcmurray 1st of his 3.
  21. I've never seen so much weight put into rankings. Maybe we should mail the kids their medals based on rankings.
