Looking forward to some of the ticket round matches at NCSS this year, should be fun. For me. Not so much for the parents or the coaches and some of the wrestlers.

Now that it's tournament time, there are a lot of wrestlers that will not end their seasons the way they want.  It is imperative, that we, as coaches, hold them accountable for their post match behavior, even when it's a disappointing match for them.  I see so many kids throw child-like temper tantrums and are disrespectful to the other wrestler, the referee, the opposing coach, and sometimes their own coach.  We owe it to them to teach them that things in life will not always go their way and that maybe they just didn't work hard enough to accomplish the goal they set out to accomplish.  You know, tell them the truth.  When it is just one individual, I understand, it is probably just the one wrestler, however, when it's the majority of the team, it has to be what is tolerated as a program.  Making good wrestlers is very important to all of us, making great people through the lessons of our great sport, should be the ultimate goal.  Good luck to everyone advancing in the tournament and let's all do our part for the sake of our young people!  

That happens, it is unfortunate, but we all go through that at various times. My son was not the easiest to coach sometimes. Glad to hear that bob is doing better.

I am more wondering who will the MIC invite in? There are no schools that compare to the two that just left. And what school wants to schedule WC and BD in football every year?

I did not know that about Dusty, my son wrestled him so many tines in ISWA events. I always wondered what happened to him.  His mom and dad were good people, and dusty was a great kid.

Only just “rival” the MIC in football?  I think that’s an understatement. Besides Center Grove, HCC has been owning the MIC in football as of late.  Times change and that trend could change too so not claiming anything is set in stone. But the Westfields, HSEs, and Brownsburgs of football have been roughing up Pike, LC, NC, Ben Davis, etc for years now. Westfield barely lost to CG in the title game and Westfield needed the last play of the game to beat HSE in football sectionals this year. The HCC will be a handful now if this goes through and that’s just football. Baseball?  Forget about it!  Lots of other sports too. I’m not saying this conference alignment is a good thing or a bad one. I’m just saying let’s not act like the HCC was terrible and all of a sudden a player because Carmel and CG are going there. Obviously lots of wrestling power spread out throughout the state elsewhere but this sure makes for an interesting HCC Conference Tourney too if Carmel and CG are involved.

Carmel will be the driving force in that, Center Grove being second, and nobody in the HCC will ever again win a girls swimming conference championship besides Carmel, but that is not changed from when they were in the MIC.

losing 5 kid or so kids for a small school and losing 5 kids for a big school is different. small schools are lucky to have a JV team... you talk about kids quitting because they are on a team with a bunch of middle school placers champs and state qualifiers. Small schools have to deal with kids not wanting to wrestle JV because they may only get 5-10 matches a year because some ADs won't schedule JV meets for only 2-5 JV wrestlers and it's hard to get JV matches at varsity meets because all the teams that have numbers send their JV to a different meet. Yes big schools may lose some wrestlers from year to year but a team that may have 10-15 kids lose 5 compare to a team of 30 losing 5 is a huge difference. 
 

Congrats on a great HS career, and best of luck going forward. You should be a force to recon with at the next level.

All this being said, Cottey's friday night match should have been under the lights.

He did get knocked out, Injury defaulted the 3rd 4th place match. Feel sorry for the SS champ that busted their butt today, only to draw into Cotty next week.

Maybe somebody at each site could go around and remind the table help that the mic is on and everybody can hear their conversations. Theres been some interesting and colorful discussions going on. Lol

Yeah they look like they have one ref from ZZ Top and another from Metallica today.
