  1. My kid, Brendan Bentz, won 138 and his teammate Garrett Deuser that won 175. They just don't wrestle a ton in the spring/summer b/c they are both also really good baseball players and play travel ball March - August.

They gathered some hardware this winter but not in notable USA Events

Brendan - won Bluegrass Nattys, won Music City Brawl Nattys, 2nd at Christmas Sparty individual and was undefeated in team duals, 1-2 at IHPO as an 8th grader, 3-4 at MS duals in Toledo.

Garrett - won Bluegrass, won Sparty, undefeated in Sparty duals, and was runner up at Music City, he also went 6-1 at MS duals in Toledo.

  2. We had a ghost nearfall in one of our matches and when I went back and watched it they were arguing about it.

The ref came up to confirm and when he walked away "See I told you" the other said "Man I just didn't see it", good banter back and forth.

He didn't see it b/c it literally didn't happen!

Not sure I get the reference, but of course when you start getting to those numbers you're splitting hairs.  I love the tournament because it will all sort itself out on the mat!

This kid beat that kid, who lost to this kid, who beat that kid.

It's a wormhole of track wrestling results and comparisons.

  7. I would guess, Evansville in particular, 5-10 a year maybe?

The Mooresville Regional always wipes kids out and so does non wrestling issues - weight, injury, etc.

Also the jump from 8 ranked kids to 12 is a hard jump to make. B/c the south is soooooooo spread out we don't have tons of head to heads like the other 3 SS. I have to do the 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon on a lot of 11 and 12 ranked kids.

This is a very good point.  I think you are right.  I know of at least one family that is from that area that will be attending and only went to Indy when their son wrestled.  Just not sure it will offset the number of people not going from 3-4 hours aways.  I'm not to worried about tickets.  I think it will work out fine.  What concerns me more is food around the stadium.  In any case I will be there and if less people show up shorter lines.

Yeah the food/areas around the stadium will slammed Saturday between sessions, that's for sure.

How do i create a profile for my wrestlers. I mean for example without using names. we beat a 175 from the Pac 2x in convincing fashion but we couldnt update that we beat that individual. And that not we want to update it to say we ness beat a person but so that when team state starts looking at rosters and who beat who for consideration for team state they can see those things.

Send it to me, I enter it and a profile is created. You have to be SS ranked or higher to get a profile created.

  10. Spoke w/ some Evansville peeps yesterday and Evansville is buzzing. The anticipation is that there will be a crazy amount of walk ups. Wrestling is massive in Evansville and the Southwest part of the state. Evansville is 2 hrs and 45 min from Indy, Mt Vernon is over 3 hours, i'm guessing most don't make that drive unless there's a personal connection to state.

I think it's not crazy to say 2-3k fans in that area that don't normally make the the drive will attend this year.
