He did not....he had a fine career at Navy. 

They don't consider prior success for sectional placement in any sport. They will bump schools up in classed tournaments if the school shows consistent levels of success, but these same issues happen in every sport. In 1A football, Pioneer and LCC would be by far the top two teams in the state and would routinely meet in the first round or two of sectional about a decade or so ago.
 
Seems like the only way to have the success of a program dictate state series match-ups is if we...oh, never mind...

River Forests Alejandro Velasco (Ramirez) signed his letter of intent last week to wrestle for Wabash College. I couldn’t be prouder of this young man. He was The Lilly scholarship recipient, Academic all state, and a State Qualifier at 126 this year. I can not wait to see him earn his degree and wrestle at Wabash. The Ingot wrestling program has produced 3 college wrestlers in the past 3 years! Good luck Prince Ali. Lol.

I kid of course...tis the conspiracy times we live in...but is it possible you could put your souvenirs/medals on the mantle like most of us washed up has beens so your son can see and remember them? I still have my baseball from my one over the fence home run from high school in my man cave. I kinda want everyone to forget my middling baseball career..oh, wait, they aleady have.
