  1. The state got shutout at the Battle of the Citadel... @141 Ty Mills, Duke draws 2x NCAA Qualifier and NCAA All-American, #15 Sa'Darien Perry as his first collegiate match and loses 0-6. Then gets majored his next match for the official dip. Almost 18 months since he last competed, so happy to see him back on the mat. @149 Bryton Goering, Presbyterian loses his first match and is winning his consolation match, but gets caught. Oh well... tough day, but getting better and Duke will be at the Mountaineer Invite next week.

  2. How many did you start with? Update what you're at by weeks end. Our number at Garrett is 51. One wrestler finds out if he will have eligibility tomorrow. I believe one more is quitting. Two more are on the short list. I believe we will be down to 47 by Saturday and I think we will hold steady there. This is the best turnout we've ever had. Notes: 1. Most of these kids will not quit. We got them to start wrestling in our youth club/middle school and they enjoy it for some reason. 2. We've been attracting some new kids who are athletic that can develop. Just need to get them at a younger age. 3. We've had some kids that didn't come out their freshman year that are back out this year as sophomores.

    3x vs 4x

There are only nine four-time champs and 28 three-time champs, much more ability to have success when you include more guys.

  7. Sunday Nov 3 Clarion Open @165 Joe Lee wins 4 straight and wins the title. He had a Fall, Dec, and 2 Majors in his 4 wins @157 Matt Lee went 1-2. He took it on the chin in his first match, drawing #1 seed and 2x National Qualifier Alexander Klucker of Loch Haven. He won his 2nd match by major and lost by fall to Farouq Mohammed of Loch Haven and 2017 IHPO 4th Placer.

  8. The slam call on DJ Washington was very controversial. He lifted the kid up and put him straight on his back. DJ was to the side and looked to hit the ground with the kid. I was talking to Nick Willhams grandpa when it happened. He is a high school and college ref. We both agreed that a slam should not have been called. The kid that got returned to the mat is a great kid. He used to live in Lawrenceburg and moved to Cincinnati for high school. Unfortunately he suffered a stinger as the result of the impact and could not continue. I truely believe that if he could of continued he would of. As matter of fact, he tried and was told no by the trainers. Just a bad call and bad all around deal. DJ did great today.

  10. Some quick results from the Michigan State Open today.... Frosh/Soph Division 133 Cayden Rooks IU - 4th Place 141 Asa Garcia IU - 3rd Place 165 Nick South IU - 2nd Place 174 - Donnell Washington IU - 2nd Place -- note: He lost by DQ in the title match. Anyone that was there or watched online willing to share what happened? 184 - Carson Brewer Ohio U - 1st Place 197 - Nick Willham IU - 1st Place Open Division 125 - An all-Indiana final with Brock Hudkins IU winning by 3-2 decision over Drew Hildebrandt Cent. Mich. 174 - Dylan Lydy Purdue - DNP - Won his first two matches by Major and them MFF'd out of the tourney. Details anyone? 285 - Mason Parris Michigan, took 1st Place with a 9-2 decision over Matt Stencel of Cent. Mich. They wrestled 3x last year, with all 3 matches ending by fall. Stencel won 2 of the 3. Mason gets a little revenge and shows he can take Stencel the distance. 141 in the Open Division wasn't Indiana related, but #3 Luke Pletcher of OSU beat #1 Dom Demas of Oklahoma 2-1 TB1. You could easily see that match again at the NCAA's. Nick Lee is ranked #2 at 141. My apologies if I missed anyone. Looks like a nice way to start the season.

  11. I thought Brownsburg was going to get destroyed by a list of a dozen schools beginning last year? Something about how something of ours were going to get eaten. We weren't interested by the way. Throw out your backhand compliments. We are often criticized. It has worked out okay for us. When contenders are mentioned, we seem to always be in the conversation....unlike someone else, we didn't make a guarantee of winning or list all the schools that were going to beat another school. We just show up and do work. ...and to bring up feeder schools?!?!?!!?!? ? HAHAHAHAHAHA....both of our middle schools are strong. Our Elementary Dual team consistently competes at a high level. Yes, we have strong feeders. I know our coaching staff could never compete with that of Indy Schools, but yeah Smiley was an okay addition. Ayersman guy did okay. HWT coaches took a beginner to a state championship. I have a had a tad success here and at Mishawaka, etc. etc. Keep talking and we will keep working. Snyder
