Last year these Ranked Wrestlers did not go to Semi State:

#15 @ 182 Sam Allen - Whiteland

#20 @182 James LeClerc - Plainfield

#24 @ 220 Walker Van Ness - Cascade

At 182 #18 Farmer from Cascade had to default out at Sectionals.

Add in the two ranked guys that made it out in Weems and Brewer. That weight was nasty.

Mooresville Regional is like talking to PA guy about their toughest District 1- 12 and non PIAA. There’s always that one that stands out every year . I like how PA does their best District vs. the whole State best . Maybe one day we do the same for this Regional . Here is example of how they’re best District 1 vs. Pennsylvania Best .

District 1 Wrestlers at PA-Power's True Power Showcase at Alvernia University on 9/23

Shane Wagner, Faith Christian, dec. Cade Campbell, Nazareth, 3-1
Chris Dennis (Central Bucks West) dec. Aiden Grogg (Saucon Valley), 5-2
Alexander Diaz (Council Rock North) dec. Eli Herring (Bishop McCort), 6-4
Seamus Mack (Hempfield) maj. dec. Steven Harris (Conwell Egan), 14-4
Eli Carr (Hempfield Area) dec. Mason Wagner (Faith Christian), 2-1
Jake Dailey (Bethlehem Catholic) dec. Sam Gautreau (Owen J. Roberts), 3-1
Nick Wehmeyer (Malvern Prep) dec. Dante Burns (Conwell-Egan), 5-0
#1 Joe Bachmann (Faith Christian) pinned Max Tancini (Perkiomen Valley), 4:00
Calvin Lachman (Quakertown) dec. Brody Kline (Berks Catholic), 3-2
#20 Melvin Miller (Bishop McCort) dec. Chase Hontz (Faith Christian), 5-2
#12 Tahir Parkins (Nazareth) dec. #19 Mason Ziegler (Quakertown), 3-0
#8 Dillon Bechtold (Owen J. Roberts) dec. #20 Brenan Morgan (Central Valley), 8-5
#5 Bo Bassett (Bishop McCort) maj. dec. #11 Eren Sement (Council Rock North), 15-1
#4 Conner Harer (Montgomery Area) maj. dec. #8 Collin Gaj (Quakertown), 11-2

D1 wrestlers scored 18 team points vs. 24 points for their opponents representing all of PA

If Indiana did something like this how do you think it’ll do in a Dual . 2023-24 Mooresville Regional vs. Indiana Best ?

Unfortunately, Crown Point existing outside of the Mooresville Regional makes this dual a lot less competitive.

I think CP Regional takes the 2023 Regionals Dual.

2023 CP Regional vs Mooresville Regional:

Mason Jones of Lake Central - Revin Dickman of Brownsburg

Gavin Jendreas of Crown - Charlie LaRocca of Center Grove

Ashton Jackson of LaPorte - Jake Hockaday of Brownsburg

Logan Frazier of Crown Point - Landen Haines of Brownsburg

Griffin VanTichelt of Crown Point - Joey Buttler of Whiteland Community

Cole Solomey of Kankakee Valley - Cheaney Schoeff of Avon

Aidan Torres of Chesterton - Wyatt Krejsa of Center Grove

Chase Kasprzak of Lake Central - Chase Carrington of Greencastle

Sam Goin of Crown Point - Andre Merritt of Center Grove

Cody Goodwin of Crown Point - Vincent Tinoco of Whiteland Community

Orlando Cruz of Crown Point - Caden Brewer of Brownsburg

Anthony White of Crown Point - Kaden McConnell of Center Grove

Will Clark of Crown Point - Nate Johnson of Center Grove

Paul Clark of Crown Point - Leighton Jones of Brownsburg

Both of these regionals would beat probably Kentucky’s state champs and Illinois state champs from 1 to 3A.

Kentucky has some absolute hammers in the Raney brothers. Also Illinois is a pretty deep state with plenty of Top National kids. Illinois at Cadet Duals this summer makes the finals in Both Freestyle and Greco. Also a lot of Super 32 placers .

I don't know if Cp takes the dual or not. Would come down to bonus points.

106,113,120,132,152,195,285 going to Mooresville regional. 126,138,145,160,170,182,220 going to crown point. But my "results" are based on Final state standing. They  don't take into account any standout performances or upsets. An with these lineups and talent it's sure to happen.

Really I think the bigger picture is being missed. The Mooresville Regional isn't "tough" because it has a great team in it.

( it has two  Center Grove/ Brownsburg)

It's the whole sum of all its problems. Kids that likely should be semistate or state level kids get left at home. Lots of Regionals can/do have a stud win.... but show me depth. What's 4th place look like. Last year at 126 a returning state qualifier with 30 wins on the year got 4th. The state runner-up was 3rd. The champ needed overtime to win. And unfortunately the guy who took 2nd draws  into another power program EMD a week later.

Best part is this isn't a freak thing... happens every year time and time again.

3rd/4th for 138 last year could have easily been a Friday night state match. #3 vs #18

Opening round for 182 last year #13 vs #20 only to go on and wrestle #6. Also #15 lost opening round.

145 had two 30 win wrestlers face-off only to turn around and wrestle the state runner-up. 3rd at 145 was ranked #6.

I could go on but, I hope you get the point. Another factor is yes Mooresville has some big schools. But dont count out the little guys. Monrovia and Cascade have hammers.

If I go to Crown Point regional I'm worried about a few standout wrestlers and anyone with CP on the singlet. At Mooresville I'm worried about Center Grove and Brownsburg... plus all the other top level kids.

Power poll for teams in that regional was 2,3,6,and 16.

And if I do everything right... I still have a chance at semistate of drawing a well coached EMD wrestler to go to state.  Who's team did spend the first part of last season in the national team rankings.
