  1. Well the kid who was ranked 5th at 150 in California. He is the Gilroy kid who teched/pinned Bo Bassett at Who’s Number 1. Most people said it was because how big he was but late in the season he dropped to 138 and ran through the bracket . Cali 150 Champ also was Super 32 finalist two years ago losing to Sergio Lemley in Championship .
  2. This one always stuck out to me when me and a buddy checked recently . Not for the placers but other studs in this bracket and how deep it was . This weight division had 58 kids and also included Tyline Thrine Clinton Shepherd Silas Stits Julianna Ocampo Gavin Lewis Lucas Boe Wyatt Hoppes Camden Baumann Carter Krouse Jett McGuire Elijah Guyer Wyatt Cooksey Sam Howard Jackson Bradley
  3. So we went to Illinois to avoid the Elite ? I think we have a wrestler named Ben Davino at the same weight class this year in Illinois and knew what weight class he wrestles . Sergio Lemley looks like he did pretty good in Indiana as a sophomore and must have been running the other 3 years . This might be one of the dumber comments you have made. We live in Indiana and love the Indiana set up with one class . But acting like Indiana one weight class is superior to all other states because of one champ seems like a crazy statement .
  4. Just finding out Illinois uses criteria for 1 seeds only . Biggest point getter is returning State Champ , next runner up 3-8th. 37 + wins , 32-36 wins after .
  5. Hard to be super on everyday with kids as I know one day can look different than the next . Season of sickness but no time to rest now as they will have to battle through it . 144 is a pretty well rounded bracket and can’t wait to watch it play out
  6. Bend the knee sounds stronger . Or Kneel before us. Good luck this weekend ahead as I can see 10 placers possible after the draws. I’m not sure what a record is for a team with State placers but look to be in some good spots .
  7. Bisping ran into CP guys who were state champs from Sectionals on since a freshman . So I’m definitely glad to see him winning and being on the podium . Huyvaert and Zar were a close match both in tough quarters . Zar getting Reynolds Saturday morning is not an easy match . Huyvaert vs Courtney in rematch from the semifinals also.
  8. Man Huyvaert loses a close one and you give up on him quickly . Now on the Bisping BW
  9. Moving to State my top 4 not in order 106- Jones .Newell , Chantea, Robinson 113- Lewis, Harper, Mcknees, Orueta 120-Jendreas, Dallinger, Aubin, Origel 126 Hawkins, Horn, Bennett, Maldonado 132- Demarco, Robson, Rivera, Fritz 138 Shepherd, Smith, Reid, Fritz 144 Huyvaert, Walker, Kirksy , Stanley 150 Harper, Kaptur, Bohn, Kasprzak 157 VanTichelt , Pellot, Brabender, Sessions 165 Rinehart, Beck, Mavros, Sinks 175 Costello, Crisp, White, Popp 190 Bisping ,Freeman, Weiand, Reading 215 Clark ,Chicoine,Deming, Bartoszek 285 Clark , Beck, McNutt, Johnson
  10. Out of those 4 . CP heavy favorite at 215. At 144 big underdog. The other 2 at 132/150 a toss up I would say.
  11. Before the Semi Finals though to even punch their ticket Brownsburg will have need 4 different kids to beat a Top 10 kid .106 have to beat kid ranked 8th. 120 who is multi time placer will need to beat the 3rd ranked kid. Gibbs at 150 and ranked 3rd will have to beat returning state runner up . 175 pounder will need to beat the 5th ranked kid. So in order to score team points at State you need to get there. CP favored in 12/14 matches in ticket round. While Brownsburg 9/13 using the state rankings .
  12. They just switched it from the follow the leader in the last few years .
  13. No it’s not follow the leader. It’s true wrestle backs in Illinois now .
  14. 10 ECSS Champs would be wild. Not saying I don’t like some of the picks. But not sure if or when one SS has won 10 weight classes
  15. This has been the rules for many years . Kids graduate at 19 doesn’t seem that crazy to me. But it definitely seems to be happening more and more . I have heard people say they would never do that and as time went on realized how often it happens, especially with the kids who travel and do a lot of National type duals. No kid is allowed to be 20 in Indiana competing . My son was a 3 Time Middle School Finalist ( 2 time Champ). And his hold back year didn’t do Indiana Middle School State . We used it to help academically , give us more time to decide on school, and another year to mature. But everyone has to choose what is best for their family.
  16. 2022 it was 31 CP - 29 MC and 7-7 on matches . 2023 it was 36 CP - 29 MC and 7-7 on matches .
  17. I would say 5 for sure definitely have a chance. I think in modern era no team has had more than 4. So if done could be a record breaking year .
  18. The disrespect for Thrine seems crazy. Saying it won’t happen like it’s a 100% no chance for him to get under the lights at 132 against Hockaday. Let’s not forget this kid is a special athlete who went unbeaten as a freshman versus a Kid who is wrestling at VTech now who finished his high school career 3, 2, 1, 3 and the 2 was against a 4 Timer. Last year the runner up was considered a lock . That’s what makes this sport great is on any day someone can knock off a so called lock.
  19. He is ready and has beat a lot of state champs and qualifiers from across the country . Super hard worker who puts in the extra time .
  20. Thinking too small . Jeffrey can get individual invite to the Ironman next couple of years and maybe bring a teammate or so. If they don’t like the tournaments just have him miss an easy dual or two .
  21. So far I think Huyvaert has been the most dominant . He hasn’t wrestled the same type schedule as some others but has scored bonus points in every match including scoring 17 points on another Top 5 ranked kid this season.
  22. It’s one spot difference and I think most 8/9 match ups are a toss up most the time.
