  2. So this year's state tournament was "fine" and you are no less a state champ, placer, or qualifier if you went to this one than if it was held at indy or somewhere else. However blindly acting like it was all sunshine and roses is silly. Evansville as a city did great. Most people found criticism with the IHSAA leadership. They could have moved the state tournament. Do it the same time as swimming. Ncaa does it all the time especially at the D2 level. It's a great atmosphere. . . It's also cheaper for most schools. 1bus, better hotel rates, AD only has to be in one place. Communities love it. Ihsaa leadership wanted to be at all the state events. Even came out and stated travel to and from the different sites on competition day was not something they were interested in doing. I think some of you would feel differently if your loved one was competing in this tournament for possibly their first and/or only time. Easy to blow off poor planing and tickets problems if you already have a "hookup" or you don't mind spending $102 on tickets. moving wrestling was the path of least resistance. Wrestling is a second class citizen in Indiana. It probably won't change until we get a "wrestling guy" on the ihsaa staff. So was this year's state tournament perfect? ? ? No... is it time to move on? Definitely Ps. Shout out to this 2024 class, Guys like May, Leavell, Ison, and Myers only got one "normal" year 2021- no fans present 2022- split parade of champions 2023- Normal year**** 2024 moved tournament
  3. @Y2CJ41 did our subscription just start over? Had access all year and now I don't
  4. Anyone selling ncaa tickets? Or have a idea on where to buy them from.
  5. Poway California and Edmond North Oklahoma are the 2 top public schools. Wyoming sem (1) and Blair (2) are the top ranked teams in the country. It's behind a paywall for most, so I get why it doesn't get seen be everyone. But that's why it's super impressive and important to give credit were it's due. I feel like @Y2CJ41 does a good of posting about it on X (Twitter) when he can.
  6. https://www.rokfin.com/ranking/3515/Fab-50-National-Team-Rankings-3424 It includes all schools public or private, state and prep national teams. The rankings are managed by Willie (aka the brain) and Josh (themat.com) they are what I would call the most accurate/ real rankings in the country
  7. Looks like Indiana will finish with 3 teams ranked in the top 25 in the country. Big congratulations to Brownsburg, Center Grove , Crown Point. For context has Cali has 5 and Pa has 4
  8. This is what I've been talking about for years. When was the last time the champ and runner-up team came from the same place. Throw in a very good Avon and a bunch of "small school super teams". Zero place to hide and good kids absolutely get left behind in that regional. Also look at the numbers and then realize that Franklin Community should be in that regional. This was the first year they weren't. Annnnnn wow o wow they suddenly have 9/10 semistate qualifiers. Franklin has always been good. It's just a meat grinder of a regional. Everyone complained about how the Perry regional got altered and the good teams that got added. (Those teams are great btw) and still with the added teams it still didn't get to the level of Mooresville (minus a good team) The crown point regional is tough because Cp is in it. The Perry regional just got tougher. But they still fall short of Mooresville by a lot. It's honestly kinda ridiculous the ihsaa let's it continue. Yes it is a soure of pride for those that have to deal with it, but that doesn't always make it right or fun.
  9. Last update all 3 teams are top 25 in the National rankings.
  10. Interesting take. So LaRocca, VanderLuitgaren, Courtney, Krejsa and Johnson are all boring? Wow, not sure who you are, but you must be dominant in wrestling and just a physical specimen, scoring at will. Sounds like you just didn't like the outcome of one match or weight class. I get it, its hard to watch people you like lose but also with center grove bringing so many kids to state, simple math would say that not every kid on the team every match would be up to your clearly high standards.
  11. But why? I'm surprised Warren Central is seeded below Mater Dei ?
  12. Correct, crazy too because some of that talent must have stayed with west central. They just got the 2 seed at team state.
  13. Dude had to come through 2 semistates in the same year. #Mooresvillesemistate
  14. Totally agree, the strength of a team is the sum of all parts not just the superstars. FSU got hosed they should be in the college football playoffs........
  15. Yall have a nice quiet drive home now. Be safe on the roads. Brownsburg, Center Grove, and Cathedral all played them significantly closer. Or did you mean they would only score 3? Hey @DawgPoundRed I like your conference, truly. But now you gotta take your lumps and all the light-hearted jokes. Ps. Mt. C by 6 this year on 1-12-24
  16. Really I think the bigger picture is being missed. The Mooresville Regional isn't "tough" because it has a great team in it. ( it has two Center Grove/ Brownsburg) It's the whole sum of all its problems. Kids that likely should be semistate or state level kids get left at home. Lots of Regionals can/do have a stud win.... but show me depth. What's 4th place look like. Last year at 126 a returning state qualifier with 30 wins on the year got 4th. The state runner-up was 3rd. The champ needed overtime to win. And unfortunately the guy who took 2nd draws into another power program EMD a week later. Best part is this isn't a freak thing... happens every year time and time again. 3rd/4th for 138 last year could have easily been a Friday night state match. #3 vs #18 Opening round for 182 last year #13 vs #20 only to go on and wrestle #6. Also #15 lost opening round. 145 had two 30 win wrestlers face-off only to turn around and wrestle the state runner-up. 3rd at 145 was ranked #6. I could go on but, I hope you get the point. Another factor is yes Mooresville has some big schools. But dont count out the little guys. Monrovia and Cascade have hammers. If I go to Crown Point regional I'm worried about a few standout wrestlers and anyone with CP on the singlet. At Mooresville I'm worried about Center Grove and Brownsburg... plus all the other top level kids. Power poll for teams in that regional was 2,3,6,and 16. And if I do everything right... I still have a chance at semistate of drawing a well coached EMD wrestler to go to state. Who's team did spend the first part of last season in the national team rankings.
  17. I don't know if Cp takes the dual or not. Would come down to bonus points. 106,113,120,132,152,195,285 going to Mooresville regional. 126,138,145,160,170,182,220 going to crown point. But my "results" are based on Final state standing. They don't take into account any standout performances or upsets. An with these lineups and talent it's sure to happen.
  18. @Y2CJ41 great work as always. Did notice that girls 135... has the same girl ranked 2 times at 12/13 amber Blackburn. Time to move someone up from the watch list on to the top 16.
  19. Damm daylight savings must have got ya on this one.
  20. So is Waylon Cressel a freshman? Or a transfer from out of state? I must be behind the times. Just watched a few of his matches on flo
  21. Thanks for the info. Maybe since it's still an emerging sport status they can do it?
  22. I'm hearing that allllllll 3 teams are getting the full 14 weights this year. Gonna be a fun early season look at some of Indiana's best. Center Grove will be looking to keep the momentum going from last year. Can Dickman and Rinehart repeat as placers? What about Hockaday? He had some big wins in the off season to go with that 2nd title. The weights will be the same for the hoosier state. Any girls wrestling on Saturday and Sunday? Will we see everyone? Center Grove is looking for its 4th state title in football. Brownsburg who has gotten better over the last several years is ranked 3rd. Crown Point is currently 10th.
  23. Title says it all! Looks like the little giants will need a new head coach. Does this change any commitments? We see a lot of in state talent go to school there. Who will be the new head coach? Can they keep up the standard that Coach Anderson started?
  24. Some quick thoughts/questions that come to mind right after reading this news..... Soooo just not gonna fix the Mooresville (semistate) problem? Just gonna keep two of the nation's best teams in the same regional. How does franklin community get to move clear down to Jeffersonville. Indian Creek goes to Bloomington. Center Grove, Greenwood, and Whiteland go to Mooresville. All from the same county. Some sectionals still have 8 or 9 teams in it while others have 12/13. 13+13= 26 (Jennings county/ Jeffersonville) 8+9= 17 ... that's a whole sectional worth of teams difference. Honestly I know it'll never be "perfect" just seems like a missed opportunity. The indy school shake-up is also interesting with Cathedral and Perry/Southport. Makes the "city tournament" matches a little more relevant. Poor Rochester I feel like they have moved back and forth several times. I know they are right on the border... but still. Ft Wayne Snyder lost some hammers, Rochester leaving as a team... we will get a new semistate team champ. Jimtown? Tippe valley and Rochester are really close. Speaking of small team HAMMER'S tell city goes clear up to Bloomington.... but franklin goes to Jeffersonville. Do high-school coaches sit on this board? Lawrenceburg should go to Evansville (maybe not) Brownsburg should be in Ft. Wayne semistate. (Maybe not) Gonna be fun year..... wonder how this changes the coaches association team state race.
