Y2CJ41
Saw this today, very interesting the coach paid for a kid's tuition payment and he gets suspended for two games while the team aka kids are banned from the tournament. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/11/18/ihsaa-bars-southport-basketball-2019-20-basketball-tournament/4227204002/
TripleB
I've heard some wild stories about Indiana High School basketball and recruiting players from overseas. It's almost like human trafficking, there are websites w/ profiles, etc.
casualwrestlingfan
Does the IHSAA share offices with the NCAA? Sounds like their logic. Why not suspend the player and coach (and other guilty parties) for the year and leave the presumed innocent out of it? Dwilly
Bigtoe19
Come on, The Coach was only helping a foreign student get an Good Education!! (Bluechips) *Only problem is that Southport is a Public School. Totally fine if a Private School!!! Mattyb

The IHSAA says they are all about the kids. But they show that is not true every year. casualwrestlingfan

He is being banned from the tournament, too, along with the rest of the school. And whether his motives were to help a foreign student get a good education or simply to improve the chances of his basketball team winning, presumably he isn’t getting his money back. Obviously, the IHSAA wanted to send a strong message to the school (and other schools who might consider doing the same thing). I agree that it is unfortunate that innocent parties must suffer, too. But in life there is often collateral damage that occurs when people err.

It's not like the kids can transfer to have a chance to play like the NCAA. This is a horrible decision that affects innocent parties. piscis1956
