BRANDON JAMES: Will be a Total Stud next year after sitting out a year.

I am sure that there are some current 8th graders who will not be attending HS next year as well. They are holding back... ;)

Mostly academic reasons or "redshirting" their freshman year??

Jake Tucker, Drew Hughes, and Jose Champagne will be 'redshirting' the 8th grade and will not be freshmen next year.

I'm lost, is this allowed? Are you just being sarcastic? I've been up for 7 hours now, maybe that's the problem, but this makes no sense.

So, are they going to be 'home schooled' for a year?  Or will they repeat the 8th grade?

Btw, if a child repeats the 6th or 7th grade, does that mean they could wrestle ISWA Middle School State a total of 4 times in their middle school career?

Boot,

There was a thread on here awhile back about some superdad keeping his star wrestler back a year in middle school while also moving around the country to find the best situation for his kid.  Over the top.

Oh duh, I remember now. I thought there was some way to do it and people were that misguided to actually hold their kids back in middle school to give them a better shot at athletics. I've known people who did it pre-K though, so I shouldn;t be surprised.

They will probably be held back to repeat the 8th grade. Not sure on those specific kids but I know it will probably surprise you how often it happens. I personally would not hold my kids back just to let them mature another year.

I miss the days when kids would play baseball on the sandlot or local farm field with part of the cover of the ball coming off.  Remember throwing the bat up in the air, catching it, then "stacking hands" with the opposing captain to see who got their thumb on top and got first pick?

I miss the days when kids -- KIDS -- could go out and wrestle in some old tennis shoes and gym shorts, and nobody thought anything about it.

Now you got 5 and 6 year olds wearing $100 wrestling shoes and traveling across the country for better competition.

I think too many parents see their little tots as Ivan Drago's.  We can build him -- make him better -- we will BREAK THE COMPETITION!!

sorry, off my soapbox now -- just a pet peeve of mine.
