When was the Logic (reasoning behind their decision of a rule) posted?
I understand trying to highlight all athletes, but how many were in the stands to see Leighton Jones win state vs Revin Dickman? So are we really highlighting all athletes?

I can understand at Sectionals, Regionals, Semi-State. But why not the state finals?
We started the state finals in 2022 at 152 lbs first round.... I just do not understand the logic behind their rule.
The Red vs. Lee match should have been the last match, Mendez 4x should have been the last match, etc. etc.

Granted my perspective is nearly 15 years old, but when I was in school I trained at the local wrestling academies Region Elite/Vega/RWA year round starting at age 10.
Then every year high school wrestling season would start and I would have to limit myself to just the practices at the high school.
In hindsight it was clear that each year I was at peak wrestling performance in November and would steadily decline until February with my worst performances always at State.
I could never understand as a high schooler why kids that I would dominate in the off season were able to pull off close wins against me late in the season. Ultimately it all came down to them improving during their high school season while I declined.
My high school coaches were great men, and I value to this day the lessons in character that I learned from them, and despite that, I certainly wish my parents would have moved me to a different high school program with more gifted/technical coaches and a more difficult strength of schedule.
Coaching, culture, competition, and community are critically important and make a substantial difference. I would not begrudge any parent for wanting to provide the best opportunity for their child.

Another great RTC tonight at Mishawaka. We had 55-60 wrestlers today and at least 10 coaches making the room better. This RTC has really grown over the years with plenty of hammers around every weight. If you didn’t reach your goals in February and want to improve this off-season, our room is the place to be! 🔥
Stay tuned- we may switch to Thursday just for next week due to our banquet.

brickfor6 got a reaction from Paycheck141 in Best to have never won it?
Obviously a little bias, but Zack Fattore.
102-8 in his career.
14-1 as a Freshman, his only loss was to Tommy Cash. Didn't wrestle the rest of the season.
9-1 as a Sophomore, Injury default. End of season.
37-5 as a Junior. 2 Losses to Swank, 1 to Penola, Sprained ankle in quarter finals wrestled on 1 leg against Webster and lost 5-1, Injury default in 3/4 match. Ended 4th in the State.
Ohhhh Senior year, was 41-0 going into the semi finals of state- had 2 Techs in the previous rounds, then had a (Very) bad call that gave him his 1st loss in the semis against Rader. Crary injury defaulted the 3/4 match. Zack finished 3rd and 42-1.

brickfor6 got a reaction from ontherise219 in Conference placers at state
Add in that this was the first time in I think 40 years that Portage didn’t have a qualifier.
If based on rankings by the expert @ontherise219
DAC: 35 ranked
HCC: 28 Ranked
Very close, but I think DAC has the edge in tournaments and possibly duals. Merrillville was a really good team this year both duals and tournaments, and lost to Portage. Portage had a tough team. Chesterton and Zionsville have beat each other in tournaments. Zionsville took 2nd at HCC, Chesterton took 4th at DAC.

brickfor6 reacted to Steven Sandefer in MISHAWAKA RTC - Wednesdays 6:00PM
Our first RTC of the 2023 off-season was hot out of the gates. Over 50 total in wrestlers and coaches. We were joined by 10 state qualifiers, 4 of those were placers, and 1 state champion. Coach Zack Johansen brought a great group all the way from Hobart, Midwest RTC’s Chris Fleeger was in the house with the young New Prairie studs, Jimtown’s SQ’s, Crown Point’s Orlando Cruz, Elkhart hammers, Wawasee SQ Salazar, Marian and head coach Wes LaFluer, & SB Riley all represented tonight. Our goal is to keep building this room one week at a time to benefit northern Indiana and southern Michigan wrestlers 💪🏼

Instant replay for finals only? Have the ref, assistant ref, and then ultimately a mat chairman determine the call from replay?

Bummer, we host a tournament that date. Maybe we can work on a different date, we would entertain a week night dual if necessary

brickfor6 got a reaction from bomber_bob in Team State qualification leaderboard 2023 (FINAL)
Stinks that the Hobart Regional was Category 2 this year...
Hobart Regional: 9 qualifiers, 6 placers, 3 semi-finalist
Logansport had 2 placers from the same school. They were a category 3.
IF is the biggest 2 letter word in the dictionary.
Hobart was on the cuff of making it as an autobid. Our HWT only scored sectional points, and wrestled at the semi-state. Our 220 Scored only regional points and wrestled at the semi- State. IF they would have won 1st round of SS, that would have boosted our score by 29 points I believe. (Putting us in 3rd)
@malignedI know this is a ton of work, but I just wanted to say thank you. I believe we are good enough to be there next year. 2 Returning State medalist, 5 returning semi-state qualifiers, and some MS wrestlers that will make an immediate impact. 2 of which are ranked #4 & #22 on the MS Rankings on Indianamat.

brickfor6 reacted to maligned in State qualifiers by Team State Teams
Interesting that these 40 teams (13% of wrestling schools) have essentially exactly 50% of the state qualifiers (113 out of 224).
